"I think many new people have failed in their responsibility also by not spending 20 minutes to read the FAQ and print out the keyboard commands. That's the least they could do when starting their AH experience. "

I agree but that's a seperate topic.  Reading and even memorizing the manual won't bestow upon them a set of big brass ones.  People either have a competative spirit or they're a lemming (no disrespect meant to Lemming ;)  )

IMO the lemmings are getting too much media attention lately. I've logged on several times over the last week and found no problem with finding good sized fights or targets to try and blow up (ie. ground vehilces)  While the spud pounders go kill the outhouses I found that has generated plenty of enemy aircraft to dogfight against - until the enemy base is rendered "priestly" and I then have to find a new area to fight at. Again, that has not been a problem for me. Maybe I'm on at a good time (9-11pm easter) and I also don't care too much about what fighter I fly (and so the fuel porkage has been a pita but not a show stoper).

i must be playing a different game than you people , i never have trouble finding a fight.

if your a knight join a FB (freebird) mission , they always good. joined one other night, flew a P38 , got to enemy base , droped bombs ( i never hit anything ) and engaged the defenders (plenty)

after doing lots of pilot stuff i got 2 kills an 1 assit before someone hit my right eng.  leaking oil and coolent i exited the fight , shut down the rt eng to save it and headed back to my base, made a one eng landing.

Let me answer this one before anyone else...

*rereads post*

Alright, the reply your going to get it is one of the following:

A) You don't know what the definition of furball is

B) You would'nt know a fight if it bit you in the arnold

C) Your stats are X, your K/T is X which means you are not finding fights like you say you are.

D) Real furballers don't fly missions.

E) all of the above

Now, please understand, I enjoy the same mission you do, and personally love Raptor's missions.I'm not saying ANY of the above. I've just read these boards enough to have a good idea whats going to be said before it is.

So to save time, simply click A, B, C, D, or E.

John we really are playing the same game. Missions are fun, bombin stuff is fun, it's all fun.

Some nights are a blast.

It's the lack of aggressiveness that I see even when a pilot holds all the cards. What are they up there for ??

I burned a half tank of fuel flyin around directly under a couple of cons last night..I pulled open the canopy and held up a sign **Please come down and kill me** with a smily face..

But they were far to smart for that ruse...

A half tank of fuel.

I landed with a full clip of ammo.

Didn't feel like the steamroller thing so I built a workbench..

Surprised you there Muck ?? I'm weird, when there isn't a good fur goin I like to fly out off a base by myself lookin for one or two co-alt or higher. And "work" on things.. But you have to have willing participents. Sometimes they just fly over, take a look and keep goin, even with the sign..

Hhehe..

You mean that's not a universal term?

It means like a snake in the grass.

Sneaky, underhanded, etc.

Muck when I saw Johns post you KNOW I checked..

Checking shows me a posters perspective on the subject.

Different perspective, different conclusion..

A valid one from that perspective.

All warm and fuzzy here..

There had been a formal training academy thing in the works, it never got off the ground as far as I know.  To a large degree I think Nopoop is right about the level of timidness in the arena directly corresponding to some sort of lack of self-confidence on the part of "joe average" or whatever.  I've always been willing to help out people on an individual basis, but I think HTC really needs to figure out a way to incorporate some kind of basic training for people.  That is if they care about it- they may not.  They get $15 a month either way.

You guys can theorize all you want about it being a case of cowardice .. a case of skill ... or both. Chances are you're still not even close to seeing the whole picture. ;)

1: The nature of the game revolves around capturing territory and "winning" the battle (forcing a reset on an opponent).

2: It doesn't actually revolve around engaging an opponent ... whether you survive the engagement .... whether you get the kill .... or not.

3: Most everyone ..... from newbie to vet (most .. not all) ... know this. So trying to shame them into believing something else seldom works.

4: Most here have, at some time or other, logged on and seen friendly territory shrunk down to a half dozen bases or less with everything else getting assaulted at full blast. This tends to inspire one of two reactions ... apathy/logoff .. or ... a resolution to do this back to the other guy with as much frequency as possible. Whether it's "revenge" or whether it's a "pro-active" defense to attempt to assure one's own territory stays pork/vulch free.

5: Some players can attend an academy 24/7 (what fun) and will never become furball blackbelts. Either their bodies (reaction), minds (perception) or hardware (Logitech) can't take it. But if they're having fun anyway ... flying whatever they want, however they want and aren't really concerned about what opposing players think or feel ... then they're probably not going to flock to the lines at the registrar's office, anyhow.

And like Poop's post .... this is just a personal observation. :D
