Well that sucked

Power back here at around 6:45pm.  Cable modem just came up a few minutes ago.

26.5 hours without electricity really makes you appreciate it.  The worst part wansn't even lack of A/C, it was the fact that all the traffic lights went out and the police didn't have the manpower to direct traffic.  4-way stops everywhere.

Good to be back.

Try living in a rural area...it happens with every thunderstorm here. My house is total electric (including my water well). Longest I've been out of power was 4 days.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

After the ice storms in early December here in North Carolina, we lost power for five days.  And while no power in the summer sucks, no power with freezing temperatures sucks infinitely more.

Plus it took another 10 days for the cable modem to come back up after the electricity was restored.  Oy!

Wussies! I was snowed in at my mother's house for 4 days with no beer after the blizzard we had in 96 or 97. She was lucky to make it out alive.

Boy, does it suck, no power, especially with cranky teenage children in the house.

rpm, the problem is, there is no such thing as a "10 days supply" of beer.
The stuff just doesn't keep.

Sept 21st to Oct 25th, 1989. That sucked. After the first week ya got used to it though.

We had to boil our water for the first couple weeks, that was the worst part.

Of course, generators came in handy too, but they would only run a couple things.

Sure sounds like a suck to me. Nothing personal tarmac, just commenting in general.

Obviously you guys back east are no where near as good as Gray Davis when it comes to handling power issues.

Ahh, sorry - my ineffective communication skills strike again...

I was talking about my teenagers.

When the power is out, there is:

No TV

No Computer

No Instant Messaging

OMG! There is nothing to do! - makes em cranky

This happens a lot in Florida by the way. We refer to Florida Power and Light as "Florida Flicker and Flash."

What wonders me is how that people thought they can have a nuclear war with us...

I am happy that such things are impossible here. Last long (few hours) blackout happened in Moscow in late-40s.

Nuclear war is still a strong possibility boroda.  The mechanism for nuclear war with russia is fully in place and armed.
