Someone pinch me ... its not April 1 is it?
Playnet, CRS and the Special Events Team (SET) are pleased to announce the beginning of the World War II Online Special Events program.
About Special Events
The special events program is divided into three categories; scenarios, tournaments and player-made. All events will be held on a dedicated server cluster that will not interrupt gameplay on the campaign server. The program team is made up of CRS and Playnet staff as well as player-volunteers. The program is set to launch with a small test event the week of August 18th with the first large-scale scenario set to follow shortly after that.
Scenarios will often be historical re-creations on a large scale with more than one frame (segment) making up the event. Scenarios take a lot of planning and organization by staff and members of the SET to execute. Specific rule sets and scoring data will be combined to force victory conditions at the end of each frame. Every loss and every victory will count towards the final result. It may be even more important to simply stay alive than it will be to take down the enemy! Depending on their success, we may offer scenarios as often as once a month. Scenarios will require sign-up through the new events website and the purchase of event tickets which are expected to be priced at $2 to $3 per frame.
