It takes two to HO, so if the other pilot doesn't play the HO game, you're dead.  Remember, the one only maneuvers for the HO shot is the one that usually ends up dead first.

2.the pilot. if you put me in a spit9 give me same suituation i can promise that i wont get the kill cause i cant fly that plane.

While I agree that it's 90% pilot that determines the outcome of a fight but, really...if you have a tough time flying any of the Spitfires, then maybe you should ask for some training by one of the AH trainers or veteran player.

3.your action. what you do next is up to you. you will either screw up and be on fire or you can use your plane and skill right to get the kill.

Good point but if you insist on following your rule #1, you're going to find yourself sitting in a chute and watching your burning plane fall to the earth.  Take some time to learn some ACM and improve your SA and you'll have more options at your disposal in a fight.  Successful tactics makes for a successful pilot and with a tactic like the HO were at best your chance for success is 50% (or less depending on the plane) doesn't make it the best choice for one to rely on.

No offense but having a German Maltese Cross on a USAAF insignia is kind of in bad taste.  Might want to rethink that one.

Roscoroo  :D

Thx very much for the 3 film links as I dl'd quite a few films for my edification, now I'll be watching the majority of them.   I spent a
lot of time studying Leviathn's SA in his "Spit5 Films", his moves are incredible & his gunnery is fantastic!  The man hardly misses,
in fact, he always obtains hits which turn out 2b kills.

I tried to emulate his moves & gunnery skills offline in a Spit5 on
circling drones & found the a/c lacking in firepower, after the cannons are gone the mgs are akin to BBs,ie... the targets were
hit & smoking but didn't go down or blow up.

I learned my lesson that it's the pilot & his skills & NOT the a/c that make the ACE.   Wish I had the eyes that Leviathn has to im-
prove my gunnery skills or how he does it ... leading the tgt as ac-
curately as he does.   Thx once again for ur assist  :)

It's a sad state of affairs that the fire caused the loss of ur property causing so much pain, agony & financial loss plus sentimental value which can never be replaced. :(   I wish u well &
a speedy recovery.  Take care.

Cheers,

Happy1

Hi Happy ,
its about time to get ya into the main .. or h2h land ..live targets are best.

one other thing if you open an offline game go to setup/ arena settings/  look for " PlaneGunAmmoMult=1.000000 "
higher adds more ammo to your plane raise this to 5.00000 or so this will give ya more bullits for those nasty drones..

see this post for settings
this should explain alot and help you tune your game for offline or h2h hosting, this is the arena settings file.

Say there Roscoroo  :)

Thx 4 the info re Arena settings, I made the necessary chgs per ur
suggestions, now I'm ready for h2h or offline games, for the time being I'll be mostly practising in offline & as I gain confidence in myself @ leading targets I'll be in h2h & DA.

Grateful for ur courtesies & assistance ;)

Cheers,

Sloppyjo - welcome!

I'd jump on Leviathon's offer...he's one of the best in the game. If I could fly like that I'd quit my day job

I've got one Q For the master of spit Leviathn here ... I keep forgetting to ask ....

Ok when you line up for your shots are you starting your lead line up from the tail of the aircraft or do you lead  from ahead of the plane ????  (it looks like the tail to me )

(in my FA days we had to lead from ahead "the latency thing here" ,In AH I find my self leading from the tail in most situations.)

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, Roscoroo, but I'll try my best to answer.  When lining up on planes, I usually use their wings as my frame of reference (since it's the biggest cross-section).  I'll then pull lead accordingly from there with the intent being that my shots hit inbetween the wings into the cockpit area.

Obviously this varies from target to target and situation to situation.  If I see someone making a hard break turn while I'm coming in with a slight altitude advantage, I won't line up his tail; I'll angle into an intercept course and fire where I know he's going to be given the geometry of the situation.

Hope that helps!

I think that ansered my Q...

i'm having alittle trouble explaining it with out pictures.and i know what my one habbit is doing to my % , its not a bad habbit it just wastes ammo as im lining up my shots sometimes.
I might need to find a different convergence setting to improve here to ..

this is in reference to my spit/ E type fighter flying ,Im trying to get my hit %up from 30%avg  to 50-60% if possiable,I cant expect much more then that ..(20+ years of welding doesnt help me much )

Thanks

Greetings Dead Man Flying :)

Thx much 4 ur reply ... appreciate ur films as I learn from them ...
wish I had more in order to benefit from ur expertise, I seem not
to have enuff ammo in the Spit5, because, as I found out after
watching ur films I'm spraying & praying instead of firing CALCU-
LATED shots on tgt .... Lesson # 1 learned.... NO D600 firing, but
get in close  ;)

On leading my tgts I lead from the nose plus the size of the a/c
ahead of the nme plane, to wit. where:

X is the nme;    L is the Lead. I conjure the nme 2b thusly:

L  X     then I fire where the L is.  Pls note that

there's a space betwix L & X designating a/c bulk.

I'm prolly doing it wrong as I can't seem to determine the correct distance in leading the plane as I overshoot  :(

I've read articles on Air to Air Gunnery w/pictures & do understand the principles involved but am unable to put it to prac-
tise, however, I must admit that I've never aimed at the cross section of the wings ... stands to reason, as it's the biggest part of the a/c, hence I'll amend my gunnery accordingly.

Is there a particular gunsight that I may use to learn HOW to properly lead an a/c in order to 2b able to emulate ur gunnery prowess?

Thx for ur help, patience & courtesies.

Happy1  :D
