Now as to BBQ.....Sneads, Gates and KC Masterpiece should be in the running as well(Snead's bein my fav)

Bustin clay with Toad and Rude should not be missed either...best to just plan a week here Curv....half of the 13th lives here as well...they all will want to meet ya:)

BTW...just have Toad forge the paperwork regarding the pup:)

There has been one case of human Rabies in the UK in the last 100 years, a man who worked with bats was bitten by one. There are no known cases of land animals infected with rabies in the UK since 1969.

The US has around 100 dogs infected with rabies per year, and it's quite common amongst wild animals, particulary raccoons.

No Nashwan...I was in school in England in the late 70s (I did say a number of years ago

) and there were serious rabies concerns in England at that time. In fact it was so bad that animals had to be quarenteened for 6 months before they could leave the UK.

100 cases a year in the US...well given the size of the country and the number of pets there the odds of bringing a rabies infected dog from a reputable breeder is staggering. I still say it is the STUPIDEST rule I have ever heard.

I think you might be getting confused. There has until very recently between 6 months quarantine for animals entering the UK, due to rabies ie the desire to keep rabies out of the UK.

Britain has been rabies free for decades. The 1969 "outbreak" consisted of a dog which died 10 days after leaving quarantine, and the subsequent cull of wild animals in the area. Apart from that incident, only 2 animals in the last 50 years or more have been found with rabies, both bats.

I agree. Until recently every dog and cat entering Britain had to go in to quarantine for 6 months. Only in the last few years has Britain allowed vaccinated animals in. Seems like too much fuss for a disease that ins't that much of a problem.

Curval, it's going to be OK.

I just talked to my Labrador partner Vet in Atlanta and my local vet here in KC.

Both of them say two shots is no problem. Rabies is a "killed virus" shot, not an "active" shot.

The pup should get one shot now at 12 weeks (and Jason may have done this, I don't know) and then it can have a booster 3 weeks later.

So if you're coming mid-September and everyone gets off their butt, this is still do-able. One shot now (if she hasn't had one already) and one shot in three weeks.

My partner also pointed this out:

You need to ask your local authority if this means a UNITED STATES Federally licensed vet or if a STATE OF KANSAS licensed vet can fill out the health form.

It's all doable, but we'll have to find a local "Federal" vet if that's what they want. Most of these guys are just State of Kansas as the Federal certification involves a class, a test and money. There's just not that much call for it. But we'll find one if we need one. Heck my buddy in ATL is Federally Licensed.

I'm sure we can work SOMETHING out.

Dunno man. I read this as being dogs under 10 months are banned period..and that older dogs with only 1 shot are not allowed either.

I hope you are right..we shall see.

Another "potential" option is to fly to Toronto, get the dog checked there, and then come home. I will find out the rules re: Canada, they may be the same as those applicable to the UK.

I will ask, re licensing. Looks federal to me, but maybe not.

Another option is to tell the Gov't that you own a Korean Restaurant, and that the dog is to be consumed on the premises there within.

Well firstly, you're an old git who's memory is going........and secondly, they still do quarenteen animals going in unless they've been certified by a vet as having had the initial rabies shot a minimum of 6 months ago and any further boosters every 6 months after that. Reason is......the French have rabies. We don't want it.

I wouldn't know what the food tastes like...i won't eat half the stuff my wife and her mother make. You never know what they will put in there.

One time I commented that the perfectly round tubular noodles in the soup she gave me were very chewy. She laughed and said "Those aren't noodles...they are arteries."

Now you understand why I won't even try their food anymore.
