Curval did you check that Canadian thing out? I know of two lab breeders and they usually go for about 400 to 500 CDN $.

Im sure you could get one there and putzing around your house for under 800 USD.

Yup, I checked it Loser..Canada is on the "banned" list under 10 months old too.  :(

Toad...the woman I spoke to has a company called Pups R Us :)  Wonder how she came up with that one?

She is actually very reputable and has a brother in the UK who checks all dogs out. They come with "papers" and are all certified to be free of hip displaysia (sp?).  She also said the breeder's labs live on average over 15 years.

She offered to send pictures...I told her not to until I've thought about it some more.

I'm now leaning towards going to the SPCA and adopting a dog there...only trouble is just about every dog there has some pit-bull in them due to the number of those dogs here.  I just won't have a dog with that breed in them around my kids.

Curval, just thought of something.  Try going to your local NIB (national institute for the blind)

Lab rets are great seeing eye dogs and they often have pups to GIVE away.  The ones who flunk out of seeing eye dog skool. They get punted out for having too strong of doginalities.

Have a friend who picked one of these muts up and it was the best dog ever.

Check it out.

Staga.. think "peak" for "pinnacle". Highest point, greatest achievement.

Curval, ah, I see. Not the dog from Kansas then, one from the UK.

If you like, I can have my friend check out the lineage. She's really very good with the English lines. Let me know the sire and dam and I'll see what I can find out.

You won't go wrong with an English Lab from a  reputable breeder. They are simply a cut above.

Haven't gotten any mail from you and I have gotten some recently through that BBS source.

You can reach me through Toad@13thTAS.com too.

Sent an e-mail toad.  Sent one a few days ago (to whatever HTC has on record)... but it was during the peak of the last worm virus.  I don't think much was getting out that day.

Sorry, didn't get it.

I'll reply. I don't hold grudges or anything like that. Ask Curval.

Hmm..not a bad idea.  Will do and I'll let you know.

It's a very small island so those seeing eye dogs are probably brought in on specific cases...but it is worth checking.

Thanks.

Curval,
We got our dog from a local rescue shelter and we couldn't be happier.

Of course, she's a great breed, no matter want the misinformed Toad thinks!

The waiting list for the seeing eye dogs in Oregon is quite long.  But it's hard to find better mannered dogs anywhere.  The only real downside is you get them as adults and the time you get to enjoy them is shorter than getting a puppy.
