I dont bother messing up my display if i cant see I logg off. If you have to adjust your display to see like day why bother. Night belongs in the combat or historic arena in my opinion. I see night I log off.

Agreed. I am one who just logs off. I still say it's HTCs way of saving a little on bandwith.  ;)

Banish the night, long live the day!

The first 3 words says it all..in the context of a WW2 flight sim with very few planes capable of flying night ops in real life.

That is what i posted in another thread:

I have a cheap monitor whose brightness i have set to 100% even at AH daytime. If i dont want to log off at night because of completely darkness, i must fumble at my vidcards gamma settings.

If i do not adjust gamma, i see nothing. I dont see the horizon but i should because its always full moon. I know where the ground is just because there are no stars.
When i look through the bomb-sight, my screen is BLACK. Once i was attacked by a bomber while in a 109. He must have seen me because he sneaked on my six and started firing. I only saw his tracers.
And after crashing two times in a mountain while nighttime, i begun to adjust gamma.
I can see the ground now, but i dont see how far away it is. It is still night now, but it is playable. And thats what i am paying for.

@ Curval
You obviously dont know what i or Trolla (and others) are talking about.

I cant follow your argumentation. It seems like you need night because its a good reason for you to take a break. If you have the time to play 24 hours a day, you really need it.

Nope...I don't.

I see night I log off too.

Having to adjust my gamma setting to be able to see at night is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of.

How many gamma adjusting programs did WW2 flyers have?

Gamma is very important tool to me when playing the games.
I need about 1.8 gamma to see the colours normally from the screen, otherwise it's darker than supposed and at 1.0 gamma the day looks like very early dawn or late afternoon.
Almost no use to play any games with this monitor at 1.0 gamma if it's any darker than bright.

I still cant see the purpose of the night, but if we want a non cheateable night, how about rendering planes and vehicles only if they are inside neon icon range?

It is ridiculous to log off at AH nights. That means to miss the point.
I lived for years at the countryside, and i remember very well the nights which HT tries to simulate in the game.
In starry nights with full moon you can see for miles.
And i guess even in WW2 it was possible to fly at night at such good weather conditions even without any nightflight equipment. (May the experts correct me if i am wrong. I am just guessing.)
So, if you need to log off during night, we should better discuss if the AH night is modelled correct.
And if the night is modelled correct, we should ask why we dont get nightfighter equipment. Because WW2 pilots didnt had the chance to log off during night. The war went on...even at night.

The war may well have went on, but the day fighters were all parked until just before dawn.

full nightime is just stupid .. some kind of surreal night would be ok, but as the post illistrates- night time is a lame, cheat oriented time....  Something like an awesome full moon night maybe, but with even more 'light' ...

Thats what I get.............. and I do not adjust stuff between day time and night time............ IMO it would be neat if the icons went "shorter" (or faded) too
