this sucker is 512 by 512 but does not use up the whole oversized area and just in the mapping out stages but damn is it looking somthing fierce out of furballers paradise.

fields are close 25 miles or so sometimes less, the close fields are supported by rear fields with 4 zones for each country.

canyons will be at the corners of each border with dual gv bases opposing eachother beta map style, real close fast moving stuff.

as to the fight being too spread out and haphazard...

think of it this way, the person designing this map has more hours playing this game than anyone else on earth and knows every aspect of gameplay in and out, how a furball starts, what keeps it going, what buffs want to kill how far they will go to kill it, what gv dweebs like to fight in and where.

it could be just another map, but likely it will be a catalyst for some fiersome furballs with gv dweebs and strat dweebs

so keep your fingers crossed, all I know is there will be no shortage of fast action and short travel times on this map.

altitudes will be less extreme as well, there isnt going to be idiotic 20k canyons or such nonsense though there will be decent canyons on part of each countries front where the only route of attack in the area is ground attack, further towards the edge of the front is a ocean or large gulf with about 6 carriers (3 per side) in each ocean which can attack sea level bases along the shore.

but the goal here is action, fast paced action on a 512 map, the fights have to be channeled well to keep them from being borefests but hey it just might work

sounds like a great idea Fester... maybe you can pull it off

id include mountain ranges / wide rivers at certian places thru out each strat .    (let them steam roll for abit then have to work hard for the bases )

I'd really like to see the trains with the AI ack again... not everywere but in suprising places . a few task groups without the carrier would be nice . along with suprise AI/ack cannons hiding in canyons or mountain tops .

the HQ's need to be placed into the countrys more  so it makes it harder for the 'off the map"  HQ porkers to get at them .

id like to see something inbetween the huge akdesert and the old smaller maps  along with varied climates thruout each country.
(desert,mountain,tropical,grasslands,dense forrests)

and dont forget our precious sheep.

Good luck

Think when fields closer together, unfortunetly all you'll ever see are swarms of La7's.

One thing about the big maps with distant fields, certinly cut's down on the LaLa's

But all the best on taking the time to develop another MAP, look forward to some screenshots.

i think the texture system is limited to one climate I'm using beta colors I always liked them.

but I will show you the layout of the map and how it works in a few days. Its design is elegant and functional, the elevation mountains etc are still being decided on but the all important field/strat layout is coming along nicely.

bases are strategically placed with heavy action in the center of the map in addition to each country having the ability to flank the other with carriers, air attack and a separate ground attack route.

The textures arent limited by climate you are just limited in the total number textures. you will need transitional tiles so if you did say summer , winter desert you would run out of tiles and there would be no transitional tiles and everything would be square and blocky.

You can make custom airfields as well. Add more fuel per field and spread umm out.

To help ya you may ask on the TE forum for someone to throw together custom fields for ya. If you you want different textures ask there as well. There are some good ones.

I would hesitate to start a new map when a new map editor is on the way?

Fester, put each field right on the radar circle of the next field.

Good luck, looking forward to it!

How big is a sector?   If the fields, or.. a lot of them are 3/4 to 1 sector apart then there will be a lot of action.
