I'll have to custom-mix up a batch of that and give it a try. Thanks for the idea!

One thing I've started doing is painting a base coat of flat white as a primer, then a coat of dark brown (Poly Scale model RR color Roof Brown) then a wash or two of black for texture and darkening.  Since I do 1/72 almost exclusively, its such a small piece that it works ok, but I like the job you did on the tailwheel so much I may try mixing up the color you describe.  I particularly like the metal effect of the tailwheel strut.

So what are you going to do for an antennae wire?  I've heard some guys use a real thin wire that's been run through a pair of pliers for straightening, but I've never tried it.

Im afraid to try the antenna wire, lol.... I picture myself ruining the canopy.

I might try thin wire and see if I can not destroy anything :)

I've tried separating a length of wire from the twisted strands of speaker wire, with limited success.  It retains the twisty look to it and doesn't look like it has tension to it.  Then again, I haven't tried stretching it with pliers.  That might be the trick to it.

One thing I have learned is that sewing threat won't work right.

I haven't tried light-test fishing line yet, though.
