Best kill ever:

I take my trusty bravo pony out to stretch its legs.  As I take off I notice a single delta, all shiny and gleaming, coming into the base.  We play cat and mouse for a while, each trying to lure the other into a fatal mistake.  Finally, I have gained enough altitude to take the fight to him.  We go at it for nearly 7 minutes.  We're on the deck, riding the stall horn.  We're scissoring, we're breaking, we're doing everything possible to win position.  At last I manage to get in a snapshot.  His wingtip comes off and he loops into the ocean.

Best kill I've ever had.   to warpy for that fight.

It was also fixed in later B/C models that got retrofitted with the ammo belt feed introduced in the D model.

I remember flying along at 18,000ft in my wooden crate when I spotted such a pretty sight about 6,000ft below me.  Two Bf110G-2s in such perfect and tight formation, the wingman behind and to the left of the leader.  Maybe 100ft between them.

I roll over, hit WEP and dive.

The Mossie is creaking and groaning from overspeed as I pull in behind them.

I'm coming up on them so fast.

Come on, don't look behind you.

Almost there....

Fire a burst from the cannons at the wingman.  Ah, there he goes, instant trip to the tower in the sky.

Tak a quarter second to line up on the leader.

Fire a burst, pause for a split second, fire again.  He's on his way to the sky tower now.

They never even twitched.

Zoom back up.

Our bombers in this sector are a little safer now.

(Actually that isn't perfect as I enjoy a good fight.  However they were so pretty in their nice little formation, and a Mossie killing Bf110s is just so right)

Climb up high because I expect the vulchers to come in ridiculously high too, despite their numerical advantage.

When I arrive at the field I see a handful of Spits low as well as another P-51.

I've read of at least 1 account where a P-51D pilot made a kill while under 7G's.

Source:  "Mustang"- a book I read several years ago.

In my Dora, most of my spit kills are at 1 g (they dont see me) or firing while blockout (spits turn hard but 190 instant. turns make the job). I am use to fire with a black screen at 150 range.

I don't fly the D-9 much, guess it can be flown a bit like I fly P-51's but it's (much) harder to aim the guns.

Don't you collide often when you try to shoot Spits that close in black-out turns?
