Seen a few from a magazine coverdisk - including this one I believe. A shootout down the length of a street really sticks in my mind.

All I kept thinking was "DoD will rock with this engine."
War! Never been so much fun. War! Never been so much fun! Go to your brother, Kill him with your gun, Leave him lying in his uniform, Dying in the sun.

Half Life 2 will change the face of gaming.
If not the game, the engine.

If you have Steam, download all the videos for the game and see for yourself.

Unbelievable enemy A.I, awesome graphics, almost everything around you can be manipulated, awesome scripting, and of course, hopefully awesome storyline and gameplay like it was in Half Life. I already know the face animations are incredible, and the voice acting is top notch.

But the engine. Thats where the revolution will come.

You like whats been done with the Half Life engine? Counterstrike, Day of Defeat, Team Fortress, Natural Selection, etc. Wait till you see what will be done with HL2.

Not only is the engine vastly superior and versatile, it will be easier to create mods, levels and animations.

I d/l the E3 movie.  Talk about incredible.  The water guy and the camera/tv screen effects were slick.  Too bad it won't run on my Vic 20.  Guess it may be time for that upgrade to the C64 I have been reading about lately.

The file is an exe as it is a Bing video.  Watch it,..it is worth it.

Microsoft has already said that HL2 is the DX9 game standard.  They have over 1200 individual shaders in the program.  It is impressive.
I am surprised it has not been talked about here, especially in light of the controversy surrounding it.  Our trollers must be asleep at the wheel. :D

No suck-up intended, but i dont think it will compare to AH2. No doubt it will be an awesome game and i will get it but..

Eventually you will have played through all the levels at various diff settings....Can't be done in AH (not for me anyway)
You can make CS versions of HL2 but that is atleast for me just fun for a few weeks and then it gets booring and full of all kinds of cheats.

However you look at it, its gonna be a COOL gaming fall/winter for sure (if I can get the parts for a new puter that is)

You mean the Nvidia/ATi stuff. It was touched on briefly.

But if you don't have a card that runs direct X 9 don't bother.

The HDR movie shows DX9 in action SunKing.  The game will roll back to DX8 type of graphics if the card cannot handle DX9, except in the case of the FX cards.  But Valve did put a switch into the game to force DX8 for the FX cards due to the poor performance in DX9 shaders.
