Good bye!
« on: September 19, 2003, 03:02:16 AM »
I quit!

Not!

Why is it that in the American made movies people never say good bye in the end of an telephone conversation?

Every Hollywood movie i see people djust "click" the phones at the end... No cya, good bye etc..

Is this the norm for telephone conversations over there? :)

Well, some say "thank you Mr. President" after the President has hung up of course.

ROFL!!!

I watched Bullitt last night (1968, Steve McQueen). The opening scenes show a bad guy escaping from a parking garage, chased by some mafia hitmen. His brother (Vic Tayback) lets him go. And then comes the phone call to the Mafia boss...

"This is Pete. We lost him".

"He's your brother, Ross, and if you can't find him, we have people who will. And you're paying for the contract"

American made movies have a great lack of accuracy!!!!

Its also hard to find a western movie where you see someone reloading his colt. :) That disappointed me since i was about 12 yrs old.
John Wayne was a cheater!! Damn movies ....
And why do Rambo or Arnold never need to pee???? Hard to identify with that kind of heroes.

Dont turn this into a flame war! It was an honest question :)

But i take from the answers here that you indeed do say good bye in the end of the conversation...

Not many where you'll see them taking a crap either, but it's assumed that they probably do. ;)

And most people I talk to on the phone are smart enough to know when the conversation is over. :D

James Bond is full realism! I checked it out.
