I'm not usually one to complain about jokes and such, but joking about Mental Handicaps is highly offensive and just down right rude. Grow up people, 4th grade was along time ago.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Just so you know, My daughter had CP before she passed away. All the looks and things people would say when they thought you could not hear them will turn your stomach. I hope none of you ever have to experience the "humor" at the expense of your 1st born child. KMA

That is really sad RPM, my kids and grandkids all seem pretty normal so I don't know exactly what your experience felt like, but I can imagine...

That sucks RPM, but it doesn't begin to explain to me why I should stop using the word retarded.  If it offends you, that sucks too, but it doesn't mean I'm gonna stop using the word.  I hope you have fonder memories of your daughter than just what negative things people felt compelled to say about her.

How you cannot see this is beyond me.

Maybe you could make use of generic terms such as stupid, ignorant, etc.
