This thread is sick!  How can we all agree on something?!?!?!?! :D

I was actually pretty impressed with Ahnald.  He did come across as sort of a pitbull but good god Bustamante and Huffington kept interupting him.  McKlintok impressed me the most too.  He seemed like the only guy/gal up there that really knew what he was talking about.  I don't even know why bustamante has a chance. Seems to me he's part of the current problems.

 Now for the disagreement :D

 Sandman,

California would not have had that problem if you guys would build power plants.  It WILL happen again.  Don't blame a capitalist for trying to make money.  You guys screwed yourselves by letting the envronmentalist have too much say so in your state.

You can be sure that she believes this:

I believe that some of the current fiscal problems in California can be attributed to the energy debacle and that it didn't really matter whether the governor was GOP or DNC, the problem would still be here.

Do a google search on "davis bush enron california" and you'll find plenty of commentary both agreeing and debunking the connection. My guess is that the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Would you please stop sounding reasonable....we all know you're up to something.

Funny to watch people try to blame any one administration for Enron's buisness practices.  They lied to whomever was in office.  The only ones that really seemed to hate them were the people paying electric bills.

Also... I'd like to see something on "selling electricity to Oregon for twice the price".  I do believe the statement would more accurately be "half the price".  During most of the blackouts, we were selling California power to the point of almost causing brownouts in Oregon under the condition that we get to buy it back at half the price.

Well... I only have this to offer... In the year 2000 we didn't have a problem. In 2001, we had rolling blackouts. In 2002 no problem again.

I have my doubts that power plants are the issue.

I don't think I posted my point well enough.  I DO think you guys got screwed by Enron, no doubt about that.  What my point is that your state should have never been in the position to get screwed.  Even if Bush had tried to help would Article 1 section 10 of the constitution prohibited it?

I don't have enough information to agree or disagree, but I've found a good amount of information here: http://www.energy.ca.gov/sitingcases/index.html

If I get a chance, I'll see what I can find regarding demand.

When I say the "left coast" I dont mean to lump in the entire coast...sorry to you OR-RE-GUN people up north.  (thats how a girl i used to date from bend made me pronounce it)

As far as Kalifronia...i'm actually at Edwards...I'm not even a resident but i'm interested in what happens to the state because I live here and it still affects me.

as far as Bush Enron....you dems can keep bringing this up all you want and playing the blame game but the blame game will never fix the economy.   That was my whole point about arianna huffingtons performance...she shouldnt have even been there and her whole stratagy based on the debate is "Blame Bush"

I enter a question for you libbbeys out there....How does "Blame Bush" help the economy or the country?  Does "Blame Bush" just get you votes or does it help fix things?

I like McClintoc for his gun control stance but... Debate asside... he doesn't have a chance.   He should give his endorsment to Arnie and drop out of the race.   The others?  whacko's.

Naw, in this forum, it's just venting. Kind of like the Clinton bashing.
No solutions offered of course, just the blame game.

Actually I remember offering solutions to Clinton.  It went something like "STOP LYING"  "TELL THE TRUTH"  "Get the :Dheck:D (happy Skuzzy?) out of the oral office!"
