Hi. What are the differences between these guns in AH, regarding the rate of fire, lethality, dispersion, etc, etc, etc... ?

hehe where to start?

machine guns are undermodeled shades of the true lead lasers that were the american 50cal
(we wont even mention the 30cal as they were decided by the warbirds modeling commision to be a non fatal ammunition.)

the cannons are a harder question

1.in theory they should have superior range and destructive power

due to areodynamical stuff and some dude named newton(who has never posted to support all this physics crap you all keep insistin is some kind of law he wrote)

cannons also seem to variate in effectiveness from week to week...

with the exception of a ki84s cannon every round was specialy cursed by buddist monks(efectivly doubling its damage rate over non cursed cannon ammo) but resulting in the gear appearing to be down on the aircraft all the time.

and the most effective counter to ammerican 50cal was a single 1 mm thickness of aluminum (this was found by the british to be exellent armor on all british planes from then on ) the aluminum caused a loss of perfect rotation (at 2000 feet per second)and any giant 50cal armor piercing bullets just bounce off)lucky the germans didnt figure that one out.

hehehehehe

Hey towd...we aren't talking about WB here are we?  He asked a question on the AH sim and you responded with WBisms?  Oz idly curious about yer "facts" as well... got any sources?  1mm aluminum deflecting a .50 cal?  That's what, the equivalent of a coke can or so?  Hmmm...

Oz would wait til Ogre or one of the big time research types really does an indepth study before making any firm conclusions, and of course it still has to come out of alpha and into beta, where it will certainly be refined as more info becomes available.

Oz pretty much stuck with the P-51 as it was the first plane and more complete tho have played around with the Spit and 109 some too.  Managed to do pretty well, although had a lot of good shots from hi-6 into the cockpit too.  But like ozsays, a lot of that stuff is still being tweaked.

im sorry i read the topic heading and went nuts, yes i was talkin about war birds

the reference on the aluminum was from a post "why the brits chose 20mm over 50cal"
where they did a "real life" test and found that a single thickness of aluminum caused a huge difference in penitrating power of a 50 cal.i was makeing fun of the seeming absurdity af such a thing ( i may be wrong).

so sorry for the rant i just cant wait for the beta. really sorry.
