Hell yeah, go for it!  Dont live a life wondering "what if I only had the guts?".

Worst case, she says no thanks, and you move on and dont have a question hanging over ya.     Best case, she shares the feelings and you have a relationship starting with a girl that you like who also likes airplanes.  As far as her fiance goes, if she is interested in you now, she obviously didnt care enough about him and its better he learned that early.

Waiting till after your checkride would probably have been a good idea, but you have made the move, now have the nads to see it through.

good luck,

you forgot the other option,  she goes for it, they date, they break-up before he gets his license,  she turns vindictive(she is a woman after all), she torpedo's his training, badmouths him to other instructors, and screws up his license.

But apathy... he can get laid and that's all that really matters.  Besides... he's got to learn the do's and DON'TS someday... might as well be when something like his pilot's license is on the line.

Go for it. You only live once. Follow your heart and treat her with respect. At 23 you're still developing into an adult. These are some of the situations that will help mold you into the man you'll become, good or bad.
Good luck to you.

yep,  and 23 ain't bad if he learns.  some guys I know make it into their 50's and still don't know that there's not enough blood for a man to use both heads at the same time.

since you're toast, I will add one little bit of elderly advice (I am a grandfather you know)

As you get older you won't remember the women you went to bed with quite as well as the ones you "almost" went to bed with.... just my 2 cents.

Declare emergency, call for equipment because you're PIC is incapacitated and you'll be on the ground in moments.

Focus...Focus...Focus  GET THE TICKET.

I want you to get a beer, turn on a MAN SHOW rerun, settle down, look at her for what she really is at the moment, YOUR INSTRUCTOR TO FLIGHT.   DON'T BE HER PUDKNOCKER...YET!

After you get your ticket...whoa, what a freakin trip it will be to fly her....go for it!  And, if it turns out, you click with her...NEVER SAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE ON THIS BBS ABOUT IT AGAIN...EVER.  ;)

What in the world would you think she'd think of her picture being posted without her permission? Maybe you should pay more attention to those little red flags that pop up once in awhile ;)

Heck, I'll teach ya to fly. Go for it.

Just about any decent instructor could finish you out.
