I was invited to stop by anytime so today Tuesday Sep 21 1999 I did. I wanted to tease everbody with what I saw but it was totaly to much not to share. So with permission I will blabb all that I have seen.
First person I met was Hitech himself he then introduced me to the rest of the gang. Then Him and Pyro showed me the game. Now that I know everybody wants to know what it was I saw, let me start by saying I did not do much to get a good feel of the game (strange controls and all) I was more interrested in what there was in the game. So here it is.
1 They showed me the clipboard interface this will be nice.
2 Then I got to take off in a P51 could have used another but it was there already selected. To do this you go to the hanger where you set the plane up for your mission you do this by selecting fuel load weapons type which P51 only had 50 cal's (109 could have multiple differnt configs for weapons) you set convergence for each gun set (outer middle inner). While on the subject of convergence Pyro want to show the different effects of the bullets so I flew the P51 straffing the ground in normal convergence mode all guns together that is, then with different convergence for each gun set. The first run looked like a normal fireing run with excellent impact graphics all in two rows, the second fireing run with multiple convergence's set I saw two rows again looking wider apart, Pyro said no fir all the guns (just Dropped the two drop tanks and other guns were not selected) So I brought the other guns online and fired another straffing run, what I saw now was a V configuration in the impact on the ground.
3 the drop tanks yes you can actually se them fall off.
4 The landing gear you see the gear doors open then the gear come down and the doors close again. (Nice work on this)
5 Black outs you actually go into tunnel vision as you black out.
6 the in cockpit movements you can zoom in for a closeup lock this view then hit key sequence to toggle between the two.
7 You can position your head up down left or right to see over the insturment panel and the lighting changes with every movement.
8 The tower looks like Pyro stole it from the British and put it in the computer. It looked real nice.
9 The hanger is where you set the plane up looks like the screen shots alredy posted.
10 The map room was a nice touch you go down into a bunker and look at a map where you can click on the airfiled you want to leave from.
11 The valleys and terrain, I just flew threw some valleys to see what they looked like, they will be a good place to crash the guy on your six. The terrain look pretty good, pyro said it will change later.
12 The B17 better view then any so far, you can see out more windows in this one.
The bomb site was not complete yet.
13 The La5n was being worked on and it looks good. Not an easy task to do. My hats off to Graphical design artist.
14 The gauges there is a trim indicator a turn and bank indicator (or slip). There alot of insturment to look at. Gear lights that even show in transit position.
15 The six view all you whiners otu ther quit right now the six view is totaly adjustable, you can lean out enough to see the rudder.
16 Flight controls all move yes even when you look at them while flying they move.
17 the view from forward to side or where ever. The views pan not just snap to side so you can see as you look to sides.Best I have seen yet.
There is more but getting late so Im getting tired, I spun the P51 into the ground totaly my fault Didnt chop throttle.
I ejected once reaching for view key for my controls and hit eject on Hitechs controls.
From what I saw in about an hour was a game I cant wait to try out even in Beta. When will it be out Pyro said By my Birthday.
So guess my birthday and you now when.
So will this kill Warbirds to answer that did Warbirds kill Airwarrior.
Cant wait to get this on my own computer where I know where all the buttons are.
I got ejected becuase I wanted to look left.
So ACES HIGH is a game that Hitech Creations can be proud of and we can have alot of fun at.
