Many planes can survive single hits from ostwinds, I've had it happen in the a6m2, f4u, p51d, and others.  It's luck more than the il2's toughness.

Uh Yeah they were Armored with 8mm Steel Armor. Of course that was the later versions. But thats why They got the name Flying Tank. 190's could empty their entire round loads into one and it would still be flyin.

IL2 seems to have gotten the old P-38's glass tail.  It comes off far too easily IMO. Hopefully AH-2 refined DM will help.
