Killing Countrymen
« on: October 04, 2003, 05:06:49 PM »
In Air Warrior you could "frag" your countrymen - at the cost of going persona non grata for 24hrs.  Aces High makes it much more challenging.  I've found a few ways around the system, but was hoping that some of you more experienced guys could offer some advice.

So here are my top four ways to "off" your own team:

#1:  Throwing yourself into a bullet stream.  When a field is capped and someone tries to up, you can count on two or three countrymen racing to the kill.  Instead of becoming the fourth in line, instead, set yourself up into the line of fire of the other three.  Get all of them to killshooter themselves, and you'll get the kill by default.  In the very least, the bandit will be left for you alone.

#2:  On a field that is capped, inevitably, there will be some more strategically inclined pilot will  still  be wanting to pork the fighter hangars.  Land on the field and taxi up into an undestroyed fighter hangar.  When your countrymen try to rocket, bomb, or strafe the hanger . . sit back and watch the fireworks!

#3:  Join!  What a fabulous way to distract landing countrymen!  Sit in the tower (especially on a carrier) and wait until your "target" approaces the critical "round out" on approach.  Type  ".join XXXXX" where XXXXX is your countryman trying to land his/her kills.  It is likely, in an effort to clear the join window, that they will lose just enough control of their plane to crash into the deck.

#4:  This one I mentioned in my Head-On post.  If you can find your own team forming a conga line behind a lone enemy, set yourself up to Head-On the enemy.  If you are lucky, you can steal the "bad guy" kill,  catch some bullets of the closest "good guys," and watch them blow up too!

I am always looking for new "inventive" ways to kill my squaddies so let me know ifluff'n y'all have any other ideas.

park an LVT (similar to your park plane in hanger i guess, but still) in a hanger or end of runway while people are trying to vulch/pork the base.

Disclaimer: I do not encourage, nor do i engage in the act of teamkilling.  I have never tried the above and nor do i plan on doing so unless im really peeved off. :)
I am not ashamed to confess that I am ignorant of what I do not know.

My two personal favorites are:

1.  Park a soft GV (something from the M series works) in an enemy town during an all out vulch/cap.  If someone comes by to bomb the town and doesn't see you, ka-boom.  If your an M3 and they blew up the town you get the added bonus of capturing the field.

2.  Fly a 262 and just follow people around.  When it looks like they are going for a shot on an enemy fly right through the back of them.  Added bonus here is to steal the kill.

Change teams and shoot your buddies down. How about that?
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

How hard is that?  Do you have any idea how difficult it is to lead someone so that you intentionally overshoot them into their guns?  It's just not natural, I tell ya!

Brought a tear to my eye Honch, remembering the good old days of killing squadmates or being killed by them.  I'll never forget getting into a furball and getting killed  by my wingman.  I upped again and raced back to try and save him from the mass of baduns.  I dove in and he promptly shot me down again.  Ahh those were the days :)

I did, while not intentionally, kill an old AW squadmate with your #3 tactic.  First day in AH too.  He was in the middle of a fight when I tried to join his Stuka.   Rino's probably still mad at me for that one :)

Go to tanktown, park with less than half your gv sticking out from a building near the friendly spawn point so your icon is hidden.  Point your gun at friendly GVs.  Wait for the trigger-happy teammate to decide you are spawn camping.

Heck, no movement or anything required.  Can be done while eating popcorn in the next room.

I get pretty bored sometimes while my P40 speeds to the nearest furball.  Maybe AH2 will stop the ever-so-lethal "alt-tab"
