I fly the P-51D because it is just so nice. I like my women the same as my plane.

Fast, Sexy, smooth handling, responsive and eager to please if you take proper care. But watch out, because if you mess up she won't let you forget it anytime soon

Like Dowding, I like the La5/La7. They are quick little airframes and since I usually screw up and find myself down low, they keep me outta trouble for the most part due to the acceleration and low alt speed. Just don't try turning with a spit, lol.

My gunnery has improved tremendously since I have flown these aircraft. The last 4 tours if I'm not mistaken. You have to get close and turning off tracers for 3 tours has helped as well. My k/d has actually doubled.

109G6/R6 ( with gondola cannon )

Because it IS so Uber    It's capabilities, in general, are highly underestimated by 90% of the cons you run into.
It is a very small target ( compared to a Jug or a Lightning anyway ) it handles well at low speed, climbs like a monkey on crack, with rudder assistance, it will roll quite fast too, and those 3x20 mg151 suprise a lot of guys who want to force a HO.
When the cannon run outta ammo, the 500 13mm rounds are plenty to defend yourself with while on RTB, so long as you get in close before firing.
All in all, a beautiful aircraft. Gustav, the universal soldier.

190A8, because it packs a great punch, generally tends to be flown seldomly and look mean.

A5 for much the same reason, except i feel as if I'm in a light plane  .

G2 to surprise Spits and N1K's.

G10 because it's a mean looking mofo with a HUGE engine. And because of the angles one can go for in the G10, 1*20mm+2*13mm tend to do pretty good damage

190F8 because it's just beautiful.

The Pony. The one 'n only...

It's (to me anyway) the ultimate symbol of Classic American Air Power.. big, sexy; proud and flashy in her 'come get some' nakedness, she made mediocre pilots dangerous, good pilots aces, and great pilots converts. With perfect lines; she was oh-so-fast and sleek and had a throaty howl all her own.. she turned heads; she made a lasting impression on all she touched. She was universally feared and hated by our adversary's and envied by our allies. The epitome of the classic prop fighter was the P51...

A hundred years from now, when some dusty academic discusses American Air Power and WWII the image displayed will not be of a Jug or a P38 or a Hawg... it'll be a brace of Pony's riding herd on a formation of B17's.

The P51's very presence speaks of Victory... for the Pony's all about what we could do, would do and finally did...

WIN!

...at home, or abroad.

F4U-1D

ItÄs got every good trait a fighter A/C should have:

Fast
Manouverable at high and slow speeds
excellent roll rate
Excellent vertical capabilities
decent climb
excellent visibility
durable
good range
good punch

this is IMO the most versatile (sp?) A/C in AH!

DW6
besides it's BIG it's BLUE !!

I fly most, except for the dweeb mount of the day since I prefer to challenge myself.  (Which means I take a chute home more often than I prefer, since I've not specialized in any one kite).

-British/RCAF because I'm Canadian
-US because they make cool looking planes
-109/190's because they look dangerous
-Zeke just because it's fun, darn it

Cheers

For the better part of my time here I flew the pony exclusively for much the same reasons as Hang, I've just allways loved that plane.

Lately though maybe it was the case of lookin for something different and challenging, or maybe it was playing for the knights for so long wore down my resolve and I picked up the iron cross and started flying German Iron.  Been flying the 109F4 for about a month now and loving it.
