I'll have to buck the trend and disagree with these boring FDB squares - chute shooting is fun!

I never shoot at chutes ..... If they are hangin' in the silk above 5K.

That gives them time to contemplate why they just didn't ride that flaming wreck into the ground.

Read it again, Kommandant.  Read it several more times in its entirety.  Then you will understand why we do what we do.

This thread goes hand-in-hand with un-perk the Ta152, don't hide the cv, 50 cals should kill tigers, and a girl scouts guide to cookie baking. Bail and you become the new target particularly if you bail before getting shot at.

Now we can move on.

Proper bailing is a skill.

The HALO jump, high-altitude, low-opening technique is vital to your success.

So, if you bail and fail to use HALO, many guys will thoughtfully pop your chute for you so that you can hurry back to the field, re-up and practice the technique again until you get it right.

The truly evil ones are like Slap. If you goof and open way to high, they'll let you drift down for what will seem like hour to you. That's just mean.

Of course, many players have different ideas about "low opening" technique.

Personally, if you wait to pop the chute until you get just about a one-count before you land softly, I think that's doing it right.

Above that height, I feel an obligation to help hustle you back to the tower so you can try again.

Great post though.

The only reason I shoot at planes is in the hope that a chute will fall out...  If you've never tried hitting a guy in freefall before he opens his shoot then your missing out.  I just wish HT would add a scream.  Maybe someone can find the sound file for the chute explosion and add a little girl screaming "NO, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!"

Why bothering bailing, let alone open the chute, unless you're deliberately offering yourself up as a target once again. Why not simply lawn dart? Or if you have to bail just free fall and see how far you can plant yourself?

BTW. Anyone successfully killed a dweeb hanging in a chute using rockets?  Since AH doesn't model damage ala prop tips, using guns is too easy, can't shred the silk with the wingtip nor can I use my prop wash to collapse the canopy as a result I've begun tothink about using the old 5" tubes to nail a chutists mellon.

I fully endorse chute shooting...

Think of the alternative! All that couped up frustration has to go somewhere.

furballers shoot other furballers chute because they know the faster they die the faster there back in the furball...and by not shooting the chute that ruins the furball and it makes them lower than a strat weenie in there books

While I truly enjoy a good chute whine as much as the next FDB, I have to wonder if the limit for chute whine threads on the BBs has been exceeded for the month of October.
