Proper bailing is a skill.
The HALO jump, high-altitude, low-opening technique is vital to your success.
So, if you bail and fail to use HALO, many guys will thoughtfully pop your chute for you so that you can hurry back to the field, re-up and practice the technique again until you get it right.
The truly evil ones are like Slap. If you goof and open way to high, they'll let you drift down for what will seem like hour to you. That's just mean.
Of course, many players have different ideas about "low opening" technique.
Personally, if you wait to pop the chute until you get just about a one-count before you land softly, I think that's doing it right.
Above that height, I feel an obligation to help hustle you back to the tower so you can try again.
