To all you Chute Shooters out there
« on: October 14, 2003, 12:51:39 AM »
Now I know this is a game, but still that is a low thing to do. Now if they changed it so you could fire a pistol or a rifle back then of course I would be fine with it. But there is nothing worse than attacking someone who cannot defend themselves. Now when you have a tank or an Ostwind that has its turret knocked out, that different. But when you have someone who's floating to the ground in a parachute, What the hell is the Damn Point of killing them? Does it make you feel like a bigger man. There have been many times I have been killed in a Chute when the damned guy diverted from the real threat just to shoot me up. Thats what I don't understand. If they are on the ground after ten seconds, then of course I go after them. But thats the only condition.

Chutes blow up when you fire at them for a particular reason.

We like it.

Reread what you just wrote.  Then you'll understand why we do what we do.

This subject has been brought up a billion times, but it can't be said enough.  Chute shooters are the lowest, dishonorable scumbags this sim has to offer.  They should ban anyone the instant they do it...we don't need those types here.

Now I don't think they should ban them, or even warn  them. I just think they shouldn't do it. You know there is some Honor in flying, if a guy tells me not to shoot him anymore so he can RTB, then I break off, hell I will even ask my Team Mates not to fight him either. But there is a HUGE difference between that and whats been going on with CS'ers

What happens if the guy calls RTB, you let him go, and then comes back and kills your side's goon?

 ..

There's no chivalry in war. Or at least, even with a limited-simulated version of it.

Shooting chutes may be distasteful to some, but to the rest of us, we choose not to do it for the waste of ammo, rather than for any reason regarding sanctity towards this 'honor' thing.

This 'honor' thing shall persist only if it suits me. I will show 'honor' when I feel like it, and I expect that certainly will be the case of others, too.

I'd certainly not expect it to be mandatory. I'm not THAT naive. If I expect honor I'd be going and playing in one of those H2H rooms where people fly with wingtip smokes to signal landing, giving check-6 engagement calls. *Blech*

HEHEHE  LOL the fact that this is a game and people get all fired up about shooting chutes says a lot for the immersion factor.

I love shooting chutes - definitely arm them - but give them something that would shoot a plane down that would rule dodging chute bullets lolh.

As I understand it, the parachuting pilot actually explodes in a ball of fire if hit, so I'm kinda stuck on the immersion thing...

In RL I would expect the pilot's body to just go limp, rather than explode?   I suppose it depends on what he had for lunch.   Or maybe the gunfire would damage the parachute and the pilot would just plunge to his death.

It all depends of the kind of Ammo you're using, Oboe.

I expect some fun if I spray it with 30mm HE ammo :D
