Satisfaction......

Ok guys,  remember a couple of weeks ago when I said I got my first gun,  the single shot 12 guage?  Well I didn't get to shoot it for 2 whole weeks.  We went dove hunting this evening after work.  We got out to the field and didn't see any birds moving at all so we knew it would be a bad hunting day.  Still, we knew there were some birds in this 200 acre field (an old maize crop with lots and lots of seeds)  I walked down about 75 yds from the other hunter so we could start working this field.

I got about 10 feet from where I had planned to stop and 2 dove flew out of the field about 15 yards away.  I pulled the gun up and pulled back the hammer, about 2 birds lenths of lead and BLAMM!!!  The first shot with my new gun and I killed a dove :D  That's so freaking satisfying!  Only bummer was that those were the only birds we saw on the hunt....

Still not bad :D  1 shot 1 kill on my new gun!

The average dove hunter requires three shots for every bird he brings down.  If 30 birds make a meal he will shoot up nearly four boxes of field loads to get them.  At $% per box, plus the cost of vegetables, desert, and beverage, that meal will cost him only thirty dollars!

Bon appetite!

Yeah, but you take those 30 breasts, wrap them with bacon and jalapeno slivers, broil them up in celery, onion, garlic and chicken broth, and it is worth the cost.  And if you need 3 shells per bird, you should drink less before you hunt.

I was talking about the "average" shooter.  Not myself...;)

Dove are okay...but I prefer quail.

Good job man, you shot a tiny bird feeding on human wastefullness that is so used to humans you could kill them with a tennis racket. Lucky you didnt panic and blow your own foot off.

The nice sounding recipe saves you. BUT:

Dont think you you should kill something times 30 to get one decent meal for yourself.

Shoot a goose or a wild turkey or a deer and you have a good meal for the whole family.  The latter example feeds you and a few friends for a month. That's fair.  But so called 30 "lives" for a meal? Damn man!

Guess my point "flew over your head" :) And they usually fly faster than 60.
