Since many noobs use GVs just to get a feel for the game before they get more adventurous then is it fair that some guy whos been in AH long enough to know better, sits at the spawn point a repeatedly kills him and then happliy accepts the laurels when he lands his 20 kills in a panzer? Perhaps players should be able to choose where to spawn so that the campers dont have a fixed spawnpoint to sit at?
I never go to tanktown, no interest whatsoever, but to those that tell others not to fly planes there, I say, when u pay their 15 bucks then u can tell em where they can and cant fly. Yeah Toad, when they give is a gv, buff free fighter zone, then ill support their gv only zone too:)
Grizzly reads first paragraph, then reads the second, scratches head and groans.
So as long as I pay my taxes nobody better tell me what I can or can't do. This sounds like the anthem of the Anarchist Party. Hell... why even pay taxes or HTC dues... just cheat and steal the service.
Many talk of games like AH as being at some level above others, like Quake. Certainly the average age level of AH players must be much higher. And I would assume the average standard of living of AH players is a bit higher also. Many of you are professionals and businessmen and entrepreneurs. Thus I expect a bit more common sense and judgement from the AH community.
Sure, taunting is fun, and knowing you are pissing other players off is fun too. But there *should* be limits and standards of some type imposed by the community. This isn't HiTech or Skuzzy's responsibility, it's ours.
Some things go beyond fun. Some things can ruin the game for others. Some players enjoy doing this... a few have indicated so in this thread. It's our responsibility to speak up and put these griefers in their place.
Yes, they pay their $15, but their conduct can deprive others from getting what they pay for. Their conduct can turn away new players before they have had a chance to learn what AH is really about.
Recently a specialist doctor pretty much saved my life with an operation. In talking to him later, he discovered my hobby, indicated an interest and said he'd look into AH. It would be great to get more people like this involved, but I doubt he would stay online more than a minute after running into some of the yahoos we see there.
I don't really mind the planes at TT, it's fun killing them with a pindle gun. But destroying the enemy VHs and camping on the single spawn point they have left is a pretty damned crappy thing to do. Every community needs some basic standards. We can never stop people from doing things that hurt the game, but we can let it be known what we think of them. Humiliation is our only weapon.
