Well I'm sorry but I cant help.

It seems that all i ever see nowadays is problems and conflicting ideas about pc's.  i thought pcs were supposed to get easier as they got better but it seems that they just develop more problems.  And no matter what the problem, someone always " has the same system with no problems"  so you dont get help.
I remember my old dell 486 with 4 meg ram.  i never had any problems with it.  my new system has nothing but problems.  Compuetrs are like squeak-goddesses.  they do amazing stuff 15 percent of the time.  the other 85% your trying to get it to do that amazing stuff.  I love em but i hate em

Your problem is the modem icon.  Turn it off. The other thread that you posted there has instructions on how to do it in one of the replies. Geforce 2 stutters when modem icon is displayed.

take "settings" option

then un check show icon on task bar when connected .
