I was watching a thing on The History channel about soda pop, and it said that the average American drinks 555 cans a year, now I'm way over that number, on average I drink 2 24 packs a week, sometime more, sometimes less, but that averages out to 2496 cans a year.
I'm addicted to caffeine, if I don't drink any caffeine in a day I'll get a really bad headache, thats why when I do have a headache, or if I don't have any pop with caffeine to drink I'll take a couple Excedrin migraine pills because each pill has about 65mg of caffeine in it.
-
I don't drink very much pop. Waaaaaaaay too much sugar in it. And it doesn't quench my thirst either.
As for caffeine, well there's coffee. For those who know.....timmy's double-double.
-
This is a bad question for me to answer being I work for Coca Cola. I thought it out 1 day and it was about a gallon of soda a day. lol

Yeah that's probably about what I drink too if I figured out how many cans are in a gallon, the thing is in the show they said the average was a gallon a week though, so were drinking 7 times more then average.
Also just a little bit of trivia, 40% of all the sugar usage in the U.S is all in soda pop.
-
I allow myself one 12oz can per day with lunch. The rest of the time its coffee, water, or of course beer.
-
It's good to know I'm not alone in this horrible adiction.
BANZ TEH SODA POPZ!!!11!!1
-
I drink coffee in the morning but avoid soda as much as possible.
One 12oz can of soda every day for a year is equal to 14lbs of extra body fat, iirc. Thank the corn lobby.
Haven't you all seen Super-Size Me? You are on the way for an early heart attack, by-pass surgery and all that crap if you're drinking multiple cans every day. :(
-
Way way too much. In fact I'm giving it up after amphetamines, barbituates, and glue.
-
I useually just stick with water. i drink probably 2 sodas a week
-

Not necessarily, Like I said, I drink 2 cases a pop a week and I'm thin, hell I wish I could put on more weight, it all depends on your body type & your metabolism.
-
I try to limit myself to 1 can a day, and that's diet. I've drank diet for years and I've gotten quite used to it. Except if I'm really thirsty, nothing ever beats a nice cold regular full sugar Coke.
-
I quit drinking pop around the time I quit smoking.
I'm a terrific quitter.
-
All diet for me, but still drink way more than I should. Probably adds up to 2 liters+.
For those drinking regular pops/sodas/cokes -- each and every can has enough calories to put on 3/4 ounce of body fat. Per can. (Usual conversion rate is 220 calories per pound of body fat.)
-
I live in Texas, so we dont drink "pop" we drink "coke"
Let me give you an example;
burger king employee: sir, would you like a coke
customer: yes please
burger king employee: what kind of coke do you want
customer: a sprite...
:rofl

Racist bastage. Every modern intellectual knows that genetics has nothing to do with anything. It's all socio-economic pressure and discrimination that makes fat people fat, dumb people dumb, etc.
I drink the same 2 cases of pop every week and I'm slightly overweight, but it's because people like you are discriminating against me. I'm a victim.
-
I hear ya pxdig that being a southern thing.I drink maybe 1 coke a day but alot of coffee.Nurses were glad to see me go as I had em totin coffee all night an day.Usually about 2 pots

The only time I drink soda is when I drink tequila, my only alcoholic vice. I use diet Mountain Dew for a chaser. The only time I drink is on special occasions like my birthday, the wifes birthday and New Years. So my total soda intake for a typical year is less than a six pack.

Yeah I've experienced this, I have a lot of family in houston and when we go out to a restaurant and the waitress is taking my order I'll ask what kinda pop do you have, they always give me this funny look like I'm speaking Japanese, my family members with me then explain to her that I mean soda.
-
I finish a two liter bottle of Dr. Pepper every other day. I don't drink cans of coke. I always end up with around 10 empty cans on my desk at the end of the day.

Your short attention spans are starting to make a lot more sense to me... :devil

This has nothing to do with genetics. It's a simple numeric equivalency between the calories in 365 cans of soda and 14 lbs of body fat.

TRAX! :salute
Thank you for that little bit of Chicagoland terminology like "is it lit?", and "can I go with?"...the ever loveable "pop'.
Wisconsin folks insist it's "soda", but then again they call water fountains "bubblers" too. Go figure.
I average 4 "Pops" a day...they are all sugar free though. And decaffinated pop? Why bother.
The big thing here in the South of course is sweet tea, year round.
When I was a kid and went for weeks at a time to Northeast Mississippi to see our family, they had access to pops I had only seen in the South: Chocolate Soldier, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, and Orange Crush...decades later they were bought up and went national.
Then again, southern folks had never heard of Nehi, Royal Crown, or Fresca back then either. Back then, some sodas were indeed regional, except for Coke & pepsi.
Nothing better than A&W root beer--NOT in a can, but served in the frosty mug right there at the restaraunt by a carhop on a warm summer evening with the moon reflecting off of Lake Michigan. (I still have one of those mugs) :aok

You do realize that sugar as you know it really doesn't exist in any soft drinks manufactured for sale within the United States of America? Take a look at this link.

true but you can get soda with sucrose in it during the holidays. Just look for kosher Coca Cola products and you will get you fix with sugar. It will taste different with sucrose it is a little bit sweeter.

I used to drink a twelve pack of mtn dew a day until I became a diabetic and now I only drink water and tea (unsweetened ) .
Havent had a soda or pop for a year and a half So Please !!! have one for me :cry I miss My dew

I only drink maybe one soda a week.

Great. Thanks for posting the map right after I called it soda. Now it's aligned me with the freaks from out west. ;)

I drink to much diet dr.pepper and coffee like south America would go bankrupt if i stopped.
Short funny story: When I was around 10-11 we had a family member come up from St. Louis and he asked if we had any soda. I had no idea what he was talking about...lol. Soda...whats soda...we drink pop here in Indiana. But we didn't have any that us kids could drink Dads pepsi was for him and him alone.
-
1 12oz can of Coca-Cola in the morning, 2 20oz bottles of Dr Pepper during the day...then it's all Gatorade and Sweet Tea. As the weather warms up I drink a lot of Propel and Gatorade
-
About 1 can per week... possibly even less.
Drinking tea all day, and some juice in the morning

As the show I was watching was going to commerical they did one of those things like Modern Marvels does when it goes to commercial with the trivia, they said that 40% of all the sugar in America was used to make pop.

I drink at least 24 cans a week.... of Coke Zero.
I just opened one.... whoah.. good.
I smoke and drink and I would still find soft drinks (pop) the hardest to give up by a mile.
Alcohol, no sweat. I just gave up booze for a month without any trouble... smoking might be a bit trickier... but I've been smoking for years and I can still go a day without smoking without even thinking about it, so I'm sure it would just be a mind over matter thing.
Soft drink though.... I can't describe the cravings I get for it. Even soda water.... anything.. I just need to drink something carbonated.
-
Water> everything
Except for root beer, which I never have :(
-
I almost never drink soda. High fructose corn syrup is baaaaaaaad for the body. And even worse for the brain.
For anyone out there that has problems with being tired or pain in your muscles get rid of the corn syrup from the diet.

Why Soda Pop Drains You Dry
If you look at the list of ingredients in most soda pops, you will likely see most or all of these listed:
caffeine
carbonated water
phosphoric acid
sugar
aspartame
acesulfame-k
sucralose
Let's start with carbonated water. As you know, our bodies require oxygen to remain healthy. For every can of carbonated soda ingested, the amount of oxygen in the blood is decreased by 25% for up to three hours. If you are drinking several sodas per day, you are depriving yourself for a significant amount of oxygen.
Calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus must be maintained in the proper balance for bone health. When too much phosphorus is in the blood, calcium is leached from the bones, causing osteoporosis. Even in citrus sodas which contain citric acid instead of phosphoric acid, calcium is needed to normalize blood pH. It has been said that the fastest growing group of people with osteoporosis in this country is teenagers....because of the huge number of sodas they consume.
As far as caffeine and sugar are concerned, they both cause dehydration, and the massive depletion of minerals. A study was done in which two groups of children aged 13-18 years of age were given one of two drinks, a caffeinated sugar-free drink, or a drink containing both caffeine and sugar. When caffeine was added, calcium excretion in the urine increased by 25%. When sugar was added, urinary calcium loss almost doubled (1). Both caffeine and sugar also cause dehydration.
Sugar in particular is destructive because its ingestion lowers immune function by reducing the ability of white blood cells to ingest and destroy bacteria. This lowered immune function can last for five hours or more after the ingestions of sugar."
That's some serious doodoo.. Also, you guys remember the old science experiment with an Earth Worm in a glass of Pepsi/Coke.... It dissolves... It takes off rust... Man...
I still love some Coke/Pepsi/RC/Jolt etc. now and then... But to drink this stuff everyday in excess is suicide...
-
Nice post anodizer. That's why if I'm going to pollute my body, I'd rather it be with something good like beer. :devil

The rest of the things you posted I agree with, I'm not to sure on this one, drinking a can of pop decreases the oxygen in my blood 25%, so what happens after that 4th can? Plus this kinda sounds like those new bottled waters that are supposed to have more oxygen in them, I think it's called "H2o" or something, to help you stay healthier, guess what, I just took a really deep breath of this stuff all around me call air, it seems to be packed full of oxygen, just what my body needs, and I'm sure that breath replaced whatever oxygen that was displaced by the CO2 in my pop. :D
Plus don't you burp out most of that CO2 that was in the pop?
-
i can only drink one can a month. If i drink more than one, i loose the tast of it, not sure why i guess my body is mess up. besides, pop is bad for you.

Watch out trax unless you have one of those air purifiers in every room that air you're breathing has allergy spores and animal dander in it and is bad for your heath. Just to be on the safe side you should stop breathing immediately!

Do you guys realize how much radiation your computer is putting in you right at this moment???!!!?? RUNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!! And don't eat bananas either!!!! Radioactive potassium!!!!!! :O

I have had one bottle so far this year. I prefer tap water or bottled if im not at home.
-
oh go ahead an pollute the enviroment with plastic-drink straight from the teat-eco-friendly
-
usually a liter of brisk a day, maybe a small bottle of pepsi or 7up as well.
-
Try carbonated water?
Carbonated water is soda water.
Australians use the word 'soda' differently, I believe.
-
You know man... I think just about all things are ok in moderation.. Soda (Soda Pop9) is in the moderation category I think..
Although, some people could probably get by with nothing more than a few cavities throughout their lives, others will suffer from
diabetes (among other things) that will eventually kill them..
And, I probably should've checked that info up on Snopes (for whoever posted those links, sorry forget, but thanks)..
All in all, we know soda isn't the best thing for you.. Plus, if I'm drinking soda, I'm going to drink something that actually sugar instead
of corn syrup... Unfortunately, that means I have to go to the Mexican Tienda.. And then I end up spending more money that I want
buying tortillas and what not..
-
I drink almost a 12 pack of diet pepsi, or diet dr pepper a day.. 8-10 cans easy
-
incredible.... I drink about two cans a week, absolute maximum. Nothing to be proud of though, i smoke, drink coffee and never get enough sleep so I'm going to die anyhow.
-
Whats "pop?"
-
I drink two or three a year. Way too mch sugar and the diet drinks have potential side effects.
-
Depends, if I'm at work usually a 20oz bottle underway otherwise it's juice or water. At home a can or two. If I'm at a party then I'll drink quite a few, just to stay awake to make sure no one does anything stupid when they're drunk and then drive them all home.
-
I am a huge pop addict, however I just told my wife this morning NOT to buy any more soda. Instead I have asked her to pick up some Rose's Lime cordial which, when added to sparkling water, is a soda type drink without all the sugar.
-
I used to drink a twelve pack of mtn dew a day until I became a diabetic
#1 reason for not living on fizzy drinks. if your going to drink something sugary, it might as well be beer :aok
I have a can or 2 a week, never the diet stuff (aspartame has a really nasty aftertaste imo).

this is my big problem with snopes - their objective is to debunk stuff, not weed out the truth.
eg the water thing. dehydration certainly has a very noticeable effect on concentration. maybe you can live without water if your diet includes large amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables. a diet of burgers and fries will not come close to providing enough water. underhydrating does have harmful effects, overhydrating requires very large quantities of water. if you drink 8 glasses of water a day, you will avoid dehydration but wont come close to consuming too much water. it is therefore a good rule of thumb. the figures provided can only apply to a sedentary lifestyle, if you do any kind of exercise at all 8 glasses seems reasonable. anyone who has done any kind of physical training will know that 8 glasses doesnt even come close.
as for the phosphoric acid, they imply that because the concentration is so low, it will have negligible effects. rubbish. coke is not only an excellent degreaser but will even eat through circuit board components and insulators quite happily. I have replaced numerous console boards and modules and the culprit has almost always been - cans of coke spilt on the desk. im not a medic so cant say how it effects the GU system though.
the CO2 thing does have the whiff of BS about it though :)
-
Yeah.... but circuit boards aren't covered in stomach acid are they?
How strong is stomach acid? It ruins paint too, doesn't it? Factor in the fact that soft drinks don't just 'sit' in one place whilst in your body or stay in there for very long.... I reckon it's all a load of crap.
-
How strong is stomach acid?
its HCL and pretty dam strong iirc.

Interestingly, I'm pretty sure that the U.S. is the only country that uses high fructose corn syrup in their soda... This is why soda has such a distinctively different taste in say Mexico or Japan. This summer Coca Cola will be launching a "limited edition" sugar-based coke in the U.S. So if you're a fan of soda and want to get the HFCS out of your diet be sure to stock up this summer!

Whats "pop?"
Pop is what northerners call Coke. I'm from N. Carolina. We drink all the different varieties of Coke. You know, Pepsi, Mt. Dew, 7 Up, and especially RC Cola (Moon Pie anyone?). And they're all called Coke. :)
I have a can or 2 a week, never the diet stuff (aspartame has a really nasty aftertaste imo).
Forgive me guys if this has already been said (too lazy to read 5 pages of posts), but you do know there's mounting evidence that Aspartame breaks down into methanol and eventually formaldehyde in the body. Some evidence seems to indicate that it can have really nasty effects on the optic nerve and retina. (squinting to type as I reach for my Diet Coke )
-
Yeah.... but circuit boards aren't covered in stomach acid are they?

I used to work in a cash security center (ie we stocked banks with cash).
We used coke to clean coins. We'd basically through dirty coins in big glass jars and fill em with coke, leave em overnight and wash em off the next day. One day someone put the coin in a tin can and filled it with coke, the next day we can in to a huge mess as the coke had eaten through the bottom of the tin can.
I used to drink loads of coke/pepsi, these days only diet stuff, but usually I'm just in for a cuppa tea. I'm down to usually zero cans of coke a day now (and half a dozen or so cups of tea). It's cheap and better for the body.
-
No doubt it's not good for you.
I'm just not convinced that coke is any stronger than stomach acid. If your stomach is designed to house it and digest food and liquid that has gone through the stomach.... I'm not sure that coke would make a bit of difference.
Coke would seem to me to be well within the stomach's 'load limit', if you know what I mean.
And with the tin can... is that a reaction due to certain properties of the tin?
Coke doesn't sit unmoving in your stomach all night, either.
Tea is bloody good though... very relaxing.
I piss like a racehorse when I drink it though... so I don't like drinking it when I'm out... I have to run off to piss every 20 minutes.
-
stomach acid: strong enough to eat yourself with.
-
Kinda funny but after reading this forums I am going to stop drinking pop...for the most part. No longer will I keep any in the house and will only have it once in a while while eating out. True or not about the stuff in pop it can't be good for you.
-

You didn't actually read the articles, did you? :lol
Quoting (bold mine):
"Additionally, the idea that one must specifically drink water because the diuretic effects of caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea and soda actually produce a net loss of fluid appears to be erroneous. The average person retains about half to two-thirds the amount of fluid taken in by consuming these types of beverages, and those who regularly consume caffeinated drinks retain even more."
<snip>
"'We found no significant differences at all,' says nutritionist Ann Grandjean, the study's lead author. 'The purpose of the study was to find out if caffeine is dehydrating in healthy people who are drinking normal amounts of it. It is not."
As for your acid theory:
Quoting (bold mine):
"Coca-Cola does contain small amounts of citric acid and phosphoric acid; however, all the insinuations about the dangers of these acids might pose to people who drink Coca-Cola ignore the simple concept familiar to any first-year chemistry student: concentration. Coca-Cola contains less citric acid than does orange juice, and the concentration of phosphoric acid in Coke is far too small (a mere 11 to 13 grams per gallons of syrup, or about 0.20 to 0.30 percent of the total formula) to dissolve a steak, a tooth, or a nail overnight . . . Besides, the gastric acid in your stomach is much stronger than any of the acids in Coca-Cola, so the Coca-Cola is harmless."
In other words - Soda is harmless, despite what the alarmists are trying to sell you.
Looking to cut calories so you do not become overweight? By all means, drink diet sodas. But don't believe the hype the scaremongers are pedaling.
-
Like I said in my OP, I tend to drink about 2 24 packs of pop a week, usually Dr. Pepper(Cherry, Cherry & Vanilla), Mt. Dew, or Coke, last year in June I developed esophageal ulcers and couldn't eat for a week, even drinking water hurt like all hell, spent 3 days in the hospital, probably all the pop that did it, but I still drink a crap load of it, I'm just to addicted to the stuff to give it up.
Ran outta my pop today, so I have to drink my dads 7up, which I really don't like, but it's pop, no caffeine in it so I have to supplement it with a couple Excedrin so I don't get a headache.

Its not just Coke or Pepsi or any other soft drink either. Take a look at Gatorade, Powerade or any other "sports drink" on the market. They are all made with HFCS and I remember when Gatorade made the switch around the same time as Coca-Cola. The taste changed completely and it became easier to drink an entire quart when a 12-16oz bottle or can was plenty to cover the thirst.
Why do you think it is so easy to guzzle an entire 32oz bottle of Gatorade or Powerade.
It isn't because you are dehydrated or thirsty...
HFCS doesn't let your brain realize that you have had enough.
We have tried to cut out all soft drinks and sports drinks in our house or at least curb the sports drinks to one 8 oz serving with water immediately afterward.
-
slightly a hijack but I don't drink coke or other such things but, and I mean a big wide spreading but like the lady who sits in front of you in church on a sunday, I drink a 30 can block of Tooheys New a week and thats without counting beers at the pub or club. A grand total of 1560 cans of beer a year (50% of these being consumed while logged into AHII) at $40.00 a block, $2080.00 a year.
2080/2 = 1040
20.23 * 12 = 242.76
AHII yearly cost including beer $1282.76
don't let the ack see this
-
You didn't actually read the articles, did you? :lol
I realise that snopes is unscientific in its approach, but thats no reason to discard everything they do, so yes I did bother reading them. :)
the bit you quoted was about drinking caffeine drinks. take our 8 glasses of water, that corresponds to 12 glasses of coke (96floz) for the same fluid intake. whats the difference apart from the water content?
1164 cal
324g carb
396mg sodium
492mg phosphorous
276mg caffeine
plus unknown quantities of other stuff.
I dont see how you can conclude that its harmless when it uses up so much of our RDA of the above for no nutritional benefit at all.
as for the acidity, classic coke is about 2.5 pKa, gastric acid is about 2pKa so alot closer than I thought. bear in mind that the section of our gastric system before the stomach (mouth to cardiac sphincter) is not designed to tolerate acidity in the same way as the stomach. just because drinking a can doesnt disslove your teeth immediately doesnt mean it wont over a long period. their conclusion that coke is therefore harmless is plainly false.
this is my problem with snopes - some unqualified web-hack spends 10 minutes googling and comes up with a conclusion which contradicts all the peer-reviewed research on the subject.

Last years new years resolution was to give up drinking soda (with the exception of soda used for a mixed drink, I like whiskey and rum in it :D ).
I lost weight because of it and saved some cash. I prefer water now.
-
I drink 2-4 cans of soda a day.

I used too, flicking over to tea made a huge difference in the way I feel now.

OK -- so where is your peer reviewed research that says drinking a Coke will dehydrate you?
Did a quick Google of the doctor that snopes quoted -- Ann Grandjean.
Here is a link. (http://www.jacn.org/cgi/content/abstract/19/5/591?maxtoshow=&HITS=10&hits=10&RESULTFORMAT=&author1=Ann+Grandjean&fulltext=caffeine&andorexactfulltext=and&searchid=1&FIRSTINDEX=0&sortspec=relevance&resourcetype=HWCIT)
I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with to refute her research.
-
I live right on a borderline between pop and soda... The town I live in is on a county line...
Anyway I just call it coke because that is the only kind of soda pop I drink. :D
Normally 2+ a day.
At night I normally have a cup of tea or two, however.
-
I live in Texas, so we dont drink "pop" we drink "coke"
Let me give you an example;
burger king employee: sir, would you like a coke
customer: yes please
burger king employee: what kind of coke do you want
customer: a sprite...
:rofl
you're right.

I was referring to snopes' conclusion that soft drinks are harmless, when consuming very acidic, sugary drinks is known to increase tooth decay. its like concluding that because grizzly bears dont have the dexterity or training to use assault rifles they are therefore harmless.
Dr Grandjeans conclusions are interesting wrt correct levels of fluid intake. her subjects consumed on average 1745ml of fluid per day and experenced weight loss consistent with dehydration, she concludes that this intake may not be sufficient. 8 glasses a day is 1890ml, suggesting that 8 glasses is indeed about right, and may not even be enough.
Thanks, you provided peer-reviewed research which "debunks" a snopes "debunking" :D

Now you are bouncing all over the place. Try to stay focussed on the issue at hand. Tooth decay was not an issue we discussed.
The issue being debunked is not that you need 1890ml of fluid a day. The issue being debunked is that the caffiene in soft drinks dehydrates you and are therefore bad for your health.
Conclusions: This preliminary study found no significant differences in the effect of various combinations of beverages on hydration status of healthy adult males. Advising people to disregard caffeinated beverages as part of the daily fluid intake is not substantiated by the results of this study.
So, congratulations on your attempt to deflect and change the subject rather than admit you are wrong. Please try harder next time. Thank you.
-
excuse me for bouncing around but you posted 3 separate snopes links.
"the caffiene in soft drinks dehydrates you and are therefore bad for your health" is from your posted link, not something I have suggested. (although I did use the conversion to show the daily intake from only drinking classic coke, compared to only drinking water, which applies to regular water drinkers. please feel free to adjust the amounts down by 33% for regular coke drinkers, the point still stands.)

This is a bad question for me to answer being I work for Coca Cola. I thought it out 1 day and it was about a gallon of soda a day. lol

Someone can't get enough of the Coco. :P

I drink 750 cans a year conservatively, and I'm 5'10" around 130 lbs.

I haven't even tasted soda in 2 years. :lol
Sure as hell you're all going to die from a hear attack!

Not if I eat a 1000 cheesebugers first. ;)

I drink approximately 1 825 cans of soft drink per year.
I'm 6'0" around 178 lbs.
At the moment, no excercise at all. I walk to class, walk around a bit and lift a few slabs at work and have sex... that's it.
I eat absolute rubbish.... such utter garbage.
I smoke and I drink.
Youth FTW!
Easter is always a crappy part of the year when studying full-time so I just don't have the engergy to do anything after I've done all of my work...got home from work... etc. In a week or so the punishment begins. Food boot camp, excercise boot camp. :rock

Like I said in my OP, I drink around 2,500 cans a year, I tend to go through 2 24 cases a week, & I'm 6'3" about 150lb. Actually If you think about it 555 a year isn't all that much, thats about 10 cans a week or about 1.5 cans a day.

This is funny. Five pages later I made the same observation about N. Carolina. Must be a southern thing. :lol

I think bottled water taste a hell of a lot better then tap water, I really don't like tap, but I like Disani, especially if you put it in the freezer for like 45min, then you get the bottled water with ice in it. :aok

Most bottled water is filtered municipal water. It's on the label.
It's no coincidence that EVIAN is NAIVE spelled backwards. :D

Yeah but that filtering does make it taste better, straight from the tap has that crappy taste, bottled water really doesn't have any kinda taste to it.

If you want no taste, then buy distilled water from the supermarket. Cheaper than most bottled water, and guaranteed no taste.
-
Well we buy the bottled water just because it easier to take with you, which we do a lot, so buying a gallon of distilled wouldn't really work.
-
If you'd buy a reusable water bottle instead...

you'd be doing the world a favor. And your wallet too, so why not?

For all the locals and scads of tourists--people can get Hot Springs fresh from one of the springs on Central Avenue for free. Any day I drive by there there is always a line of people with recycled milk bottles capping off gallons and taking it home.
There are still small bottling companies that do exist--despite all the mega-bottlers. In my hometown of Waukegan, IL. "Glen Rock" bottlers pumped out 30+ flavors for decades. Small 8 oz bottles just right for kids. The concession stand at the Beach Park, IL ball fields sold them for a nickel each---then went up to a dime. Their grape & orange ROCKED :aok
I still have not seen anyone on this board who remembers "Chocolate Soldier". Then again, no one on this board knows what a slug burger is either.

Nothing like a Billy Goat---with grease dripping out of the Kiaser Roll Bun--at an artery clogging 50,000 calories with an ice cold beer before a Blackhawks game at the "Old" Chicago Stadium.
