I started using a product called Muscle Milk today since I am trying to bulk-up for when i leave for the army next summer. The people at GNC, My recruiter and some other people have all talked about MM and said how good it is, also that it tastes real good. NOT, this stuff is gross. I just finished a workout and tryed to drink some and nearly threw up. It says to fill teh shaker bottle up to 12oz with water then add 2 scoops from the thing, i did that; nasty. i've added milk, that doesn't work and i've added TONs and tons of Hershey Chocolate syrup to try to kill the taste. I am not looking forward to the next few hours because i have to drink another one before i go to bed! Anybody have any idea's to make this less painfull i'd appreciate it! :(

Well I play college football and we were told its now illegal to use by the NCAA in February or March.
When I did use it I had cookies N creme with milk and it tasted pretty damn good. It all depends which flavor you get from what Ive been told and that the cookies N creme is the best one.
I use the whey protein now from GNC and find that its better. The chocolate one with milk tastes really good.
If you are trying to bulk up get the mass XXX. You will gain mass quick.
Both the cookies N creme and the chocolate whey protein tasted like pretty damn good milkshakes imo.

I heard Muscle Milk is banned, is that that true?
Well the answer to that is, technically yes. Muscle Milk was banned by the NCAA because it contains IGF-1 (insulin growth hormone 1) precursors. if you read the container it says it has "Growth Hormone releasers." Well anyone who knows anything will tell you that any increase, if at all, of IGF-1 you get from Muscle Milk is so negligible that it will never show up in a test. So unless you get caught carrying a container by NCAA testing officials continue to take it you will be fine. But, since technically it is "hormonal" it has to be banned according to NCAA regulations. Also you must note that the NCAA has deals with Gatorade and other companies that supply protein drinks and there is money to be made by them banning MM. Recently Cytosport and the NCAA entered into an agreement that allows Muscle Milk Collegiate. Now if you were Cytosport, and a majority of your MM customers were high school and college athletes, and the NCAA banned your product, would you not come out with a compliant product, different or not? Of course.

Wow that is more than I paid. I also got a buy 1 get 1 free when I bought mine...2 containers for $45. Also got a discount on my gold card purchase at the same time lol.
For every 8oz of milk I put one scoops of the powder. Muscle milk really shouldn't taste that bad shouldn't matter which flavor. Id recommend getting the plastic containers they sell at GNC with the mixer in the cup and measurements on the side so you can easily measure it out and shake it to mix.

We weren't exactly told why by our trainer or coaches but apparently its banned by the NCAA. All of were looking at each other thinking WTF are we going do with our containers lol. Most of us had muscle milk hell I threw out a container half full. I guess there is stuff in there banned by the NCAA. They have a long list of drugs banned as well that I am pretty damn surprised at. You drink an energy drink before a drug test and it tests positive for guanine and other "performance enhancers" that are banned.
That is the only thing I can think of is that there are so called performance enhancers in muscle milk that we aren't allowed to take.

I know several that have used N.O. Xplode and it didnt help them at all. They said yea it makes you go nuts in the weight room and you don't feel pain when lifting but muscle mass wise they said it doesnt help.
Protein is the way to go really.

Go get the Whey Protein from GNC and get either the chocolate or vanilla IF you think you need to bulk up. Otherwise just start eating and working out 3-4 times a week doing heavy weight with low reps. That will put muscle on faster than anything else even when you have a high metabolism like 99% of all high school kids do. I went to school to be a strength and conditioning coach (degree work in Kinesiology and Health Education) and even though I don't do that and haven't since college I still keep up with the articles and science involved. If you need some help I would be glad to give you some workout routines we used when I was playing football in college and some that I have developed for other local high school athletes to help boost weight and conditioning for them in the off season.

If you want to kill the taste (to a certain degree) then mix the powder with light chocolate flavored soy milk. Skip the choc. syrup, that stuff is undoing 1/2 of your work-out. also each lots of lean protiens, a can of salmon, tuna, or chicken will complement your post work-out shake. you can have a nice juicy (i.e. fat laden) steak 3-4 times a week if you really are working out heavily. don't slack-off on eating your veggies & fruits!

the cheap way to bulk up is eating pb & j..and a boiled egg here and there. if it comes to protien shakes though i stick with vanilla. i think it has the least flavor and it's definately better in that respect.
bulking up for basic training though.. not really the way to go. you would be better off working on your endurance and high repetitions in pushups and situps than in strength training. they will make you sweat if you're fat and slow. maybe postpone bulking up after you're out of basic. i guess i really don't know your build. just my two cents.

NO Explode helped me due to it gave me that extra few reps during a workout. Do not drink it after 6 or 7 PM. May keep you up. Works best with an empty stomach but I try to eat just alittle. If you are lifting hard and have muscle soreness, make sure you get some Amino Acids. I get mine thru Beverly L-Glutamine (BCAAs) . Really helps out with muscle soreness and muscle repair.
For protien is use Zero Carb Isolate Whey. The Strawberrys and Cream. Stuff is real good! I take it with Skim milk of to flavor my Green Tea.

lol, its diffrent, Because if i push myself and throw up because of it thats not a big deal (its happened before at PT) but the problem with throwing up the drink is, it'll have left my body and i'll have to drink more! It's so hard to get down, my body wants it to come up

Real hard working muscle cannot be faked. You want marshmallow muscles that make you look good naked or do you want to actualy be strong and agile?

LOL good point. Substitute 'Going to sleep before 24:00' for 'playing aceshigh till 05:00'. Not good for health, but hell its fun.

But seriously, be active, work physicaly everyay, or go swimming or something. You dont need those additive shakes. I spent my teenage years working like that and it set me up for life. Now I hardly do anything healthy but still got the body from 10 years ago. Building muscles in the gym will require you to go to the gym....forever!! :O

just east more. but complex carbs and lean meat. you probably don't need the pricy protein stuff just to get to an average body weight. just eat more.

I don't get how you can't get over something as small as drinking something that "tastes bad". You're in for some bad times if you can't stay in control for even small things like that.

Both, yes. I mean... has he never even drunk raw eggs or something? I used to know this guy who'd say with a straight face (maybe some sweat on his forehead) that mixing liquid and solid foods was just disgusting.

I don't get how you can't get over something as small as drinking something that "tastes bad". You're in for some bad times if you can't stay in control for even small things like that.
Muscle Milk doesn't taste bad for one thing, maybe he's just weird. :D
