Cut him a little slack he did say he is only 12. Look at it this way there is not a lot of 12 year old kids that know what WWII is. He clearly is at least a few steps above that.

I knew what WWII was when I was twelve. I knew what WWII was when I was ten. I knew what WWII was when I was eight. I read and learned. I suspect that many children of the age of twelve in today's world do far less of that than in previous generations.

The kid is 12 and into WW2 combat aircraft.

So instead of encouraging him, you ridicule him??

I swear I have never come across a bigger bunch of idiots in my life.

I read these BBs every day and I am astounded at the lack of social skills presented by "supposed" adults.

I don't know how Skuzzy and HTC puts up with you Cretons!

Unbelievable.

I think we would be much more amiable with the kid if we could understand what he was trying to say. I know I would. However instead of trying to improve himself, in his other thread he basically says that since he is 12 and cannot spell, we need to just learn to read it. No.

And why would you bother to reply to something you can't read?

Just to make fun of the kid?

Yes.

Post validated.....I agree with 1Boner.

In some ways the twelve year old kids act better than the adults. Most of the younger (preteen) kids don't go off on a tirade like I have heard many adults do. The kid came on to post his thoughts in a respectful, albeit garbled manner. Which is more effort than some adults are currently willing to do.

Sad really...

Edit: If you really take the time to try and understand what was written his thoughts make sense. He has a more lucid understanding than some adults I have run across.

I understand this fellow is someone young that is discovering (and is the future of) the genre, and as such should be encouraged.  However, it is going to be very difficult to help him along until we can communicate effectively with him.

My eyes hurt when I try to read that.  Why would I try to read another?

It is a sad fact, that children pick on other children, sometimes ruthlessly... Especially when they feel that they have an advantage of some kind..
One of the signs of adulthood, is when they feel secure enough in their own skin, that they don't have to do that anymore...

Then we have the BBs factor... Far removed from their target of ridicule, and with no foreseeable consequences, the brakes are really off...

The kid is pretty new, obviously!!!  I guess thats a good reason to slam him around huh?
Probably really excited about this new game he found, wanting to talk with other people who like the game too...
So a bunch of no class lowbelly slime take advantage of the situation, and hammer on him...  WTG guys, great way to show what you are REALLY about...

I wonder how many have kids or grandkids of their own? And how they would feel about someone older, was doing that to THEIR KIDS!!!

Blow it off stealth, next time spend a little time working on punctuation...

I think the key word in the above paragraph is "communicate", which is quite a bit different than belitteling.

You should also take into account that he is young, and by his own admission can't spell or apparently put together a coherant sentence very well.

But what is his reward for "trying" to become a vocal part of these BBs?

So called "adults",who I'm sure he would usually look up to, pointing fingers and laughing at him.

If it "hurts your eyes" to read it, Don't.

And save the snide comments for the idiots who deserve them.

God knows there are plenty more deserving posts than this poor kids.

If you could point out my snide comment, I'd appreciate it.

It does legitimately hurt my eyes.  This isn't a snide comment.  Trying to focus in on the thing and make sense of that requires squinting, which hurts when you're staring at a monitor.

With all the people in this game who want and need help, why would I start with this guy?  I can't understand what he's saying.  It's a legitimate point, and the first bit of advice that will get him going on his Aces High career.

I have faith he can handle it.

This is from another thread.

The OP.
we need a destoryer and every time i man a gun on a small cruiser i see torpedo toobs and if you dont know what a torpedo toob is its a set of toobs set on a destoyer launched by air and it can launch up to 8 toobs there about 2 sets of torpedo toobs on a are cruisers but it cant fire any lets have some torpedos on are small cruisers and destoyers like they did in world war 2 and lets have anouther thing of 8inch in the back of are heavy cruiser even better then 8inch how about a 12inch or 16inch even up to you i dont care but i see a crain on the back of are heavy cruiser and those of you thinking that crain is for loading supplies no it put a plane made to take off water in the water we need a fm2 or some anfibien plane that can take off water lets say you gotta have like 20 points to do that but still we need it so if are cv sinks we have a back up plane but lets say your score has to be like 300 or you need 80 perk points to do that something like that and lets have flags of are side on are ships thats not hard to do  :salute dont dont call me a noob this is just what i think this game needs you dig and im 12 dont teach me like im some retarted guy im still in kindergarden.

The first reply.
Your posts will get through to more than a few people if you punctuate them.

His reply to moot.
im 12 im no A+ in my class with spelling :devil

Sorry but no.

Title: Re: the i-16 compared to the other new planes
Post by: Plazus on July 30, 2009, 04:28:41 PM
After carefully reviewing some of his previous posts, Im starting to think that this kid actually knows what he is talking about. Think about it:

-Torpedos on destroyers and cruisers (could be useful in defense against other enemy CVs and PT boats)
-Amphibious boats and aircraft (amphibious aircraft can add a little variety to the gameplay)
-Addition to another gun in the rear of the destroyer (come on, what harm would it do for another gun?  :devil)
-Flags on the ships (neat little decoration for a change)

I do appologize for belittleing the kid in my previous posts. Despite his punctuation and grammar, he actually knows what he is talking about. Read through his posts again and you may find some logic in there that you mightve missed.

The kid has some great ideas for the game. So I give kudos and a big salute to Stealth in his efforts in contributing his thoughts/ideas to the AH community.

It's not like he told some BS story about some guys that jumped him, stole his book bag and then pulled a knife on them.

Don't use "I'm just 12" as an excuse to show poor effort.

Failing to put forth a minimal effort is certainly not worthy of praise.

It takes very little effort to use an occasional period.

You can not claim to not know about periods.  My first grader uses them regularly.  So, in all seriousness -- at least make an attempt to act your age.

I guarantee if you do, you will be taken much more seriously by the general population.

I vote bring back BBS squelch. Because what all the bleeding hearts don't see is that what sours us to the kid is the attitude above. That he is going to refuse to use grammar because he feels his being 12 entitles him to it, and that WE have to learn to live with it. So, my money is on him being a shade, and if Im wrong, he is an unfortunate example of what a world of touchy feely "you're entitled to this or you can sue" teachings will do to the human race.

Do yourself a huge favor and "Do as TonyJoey does."  That young man sets the standard.

Anyway, welcome to Aces High.  If you need help, feel free to ask.  Your grammar doesn't have to be perfect (mine's not); just try and make it a little easier to read, please.

Thanks!

Stealth, just give punctuation a small try.  It won't hurt you, and your ideas will actually get through to others instead of getting stuck in arguments over grammar. :)

Are you in some kind of time paradox? One day your birthday is three months away, then the next its one week away. Tomarrow will you be in October? Can you tell me who wins the World Series? Id really like to know that in advance so I can lay some bets down.

Stealth, I aplaud your interest in avaition and history, WWII in particular, and I salute your family members who served.

But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE at least make an attempt to not butcher the english language.

Here's a little hint: From the perspective of an adult who has kids not much younger than you, and whose wife is a teacher, mother was a teacher, and grandmother was an english teacher..... you will find very few people here who will take you or your posts seriously as long as you continue to talk/type as if you have a seriously debilitating head injury. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON someone your age cannot at least make an attempt at proper grammar, punctuation and syntax. If you can't then your teachers have seriously failed you. If you can, but choose not to on purpose, you are a fool and are only hurting yourself, here and everywhere else in life that you choose to conduct yourself in this manner. If you want to win the respect of adults, learn to PUNCTUATE your sentences, and at least make an attempt at proper grammar.

Otherwise, you will find yoursef on a lot of folks' permanant "ignore" list, and it will be 100% your own fault, regardless of how good your ideas are or how much you have to contribute. And that would be everyones' loss, not just yours.

Uh...

His name is "Boner"...

BTW, it's "cretin", Boner. Or do you prefer to be addressed as "1 Boner"? As in:

I WANDERED lonely as 1 Boner
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
          A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Sure, but at least he calls himself Stealth.

It kind of fits, right? I mean, if he doesn't bother to write properly, people are unlikely to read it. Thus, his posts will be quite stealthy.

I-16 can rack up some kills by hanging on the fringes of a furball and picking, which explains your ratio.  I seriously doubt that more than a couple were 1v1 kills, I've fought against you and I know that 99% of those kills were from you picking others while fighting someone else.

You lost 5 to spitfires (one to a MK I), two to an N1K, one to an La 7, one to a Ju 88 (?), 3 to various 190 variants and one to a Brewster. Two of the names I recognize as rooks and neither of them were Spitfire pilots.
