Going to have to try "Necessity" on my M1 Carbine.

Nice field mod in Korea for the Garand if you didnt mind having the choice between firing eight rounds or none.

Sure it'll work. Its just a really bad idea.

Bump firing would be a better option for simulating full auto.

I have to agree about the first one .. completely off base for a Marine.
Empty the magazine is what an army puke would do.
A Marine strives for one shot, one kill.

Or .. so I heard (evil grin)

I was smiling too.. the first time I read that 25 years ago. ;)

Since then... countless variations: Lybia, North Korea, Iraq, Iran ... F-14, F-15, F-18... Marines.. Air Force, whatever...

You got me :aok but I dont respect anyone who isnt a good soldier, airmen, marine, or seamen. Ill call them a S***bag to their face.....Like the Marine who talked to me on leave trying to say he was better then me because he was a Marine......I asked his job "Im a truck driver" I answered with alot of laughter and told him Im an Infantrymen....he said ended up getting knocked out after a smart comment about Army Infantry ;)

If on active duty, you'll have to get it past your quartermaster.  Otherwise, it'll be your wife!

All fun and games till a pog insults a grunt :aok

Junky I have the utmost respect to you for your service but I will let you in on a little bit of insight.  His attitude that he is better than you is something all of us Marines are taught to be proud of from day 1.  The fact that his MOS is something to do with Motor Transport has no bearing on if he knows what he is talking about because every Marine is a rifleman first.  Granted, you are around Infantry work every day, but that Marine is expected to know basic infantry skills and put them to practice when the time comes.  He also has to qualify with his service rifle up to a distance of 500 yards.  IIRC, the Army's KD course only goes to 300, but I may be mistaken.  Both services have started to include more combat marksmanship training in their regimens from lessons learned over the past decade.  Both services have excellent training but it's almost like comparing apples to oranges.  The Marine Corps does not have the resources that the Army does for unit sized training nor the same amount of resources available for professional schools and such.  However, the Marine Corps makes up for that by focusing more on individual and smaller unit type training.  There are glaring differences between the two but I will tell you this, calling a Marine with a non-combat MOS a pog is much much much different than calling a soldier with a non-combat MOS a pog.  Granted he hasn't gone through your training and walked in your shoes but you haven't gone through his and walked in his either.

I will agree that Army overall has more POS in it but the thing about the Infantry in the Army is we have to do other jobs as well. I can set claymores, preform first-aid(I am CLS qaulified), fire a heavy weapon(mortars, javellin, 50 cals MK19),drive and operate APCs(Bradleys, Strykers) work paperwork while not in the field. Im almost positive Marines have like sub categories of Infantry, riflemen, grenadiers, heavy weapons...we are expected to be able to do these things at all times. I dont know much about the Marines but the only thing that gets me pissed at them is they try to make themself sound better then they really are. Infantrymen in the Army and the Marines are what win the fights, with support from other warriors.

the stock has been removed and what you are seeing is a padded buffer tube.  Probably to make the rifle shorter without violating the 16" barrel law

So... do you just stick that thing under your armpit and go full auto?

Well, I'll let you do a little checking into that yourself because I firmly believe that you learn the best from doing your own research.  I will say that Infantry in neither one does not necessarily win the fights, they'll win little skirmishes but not battles.  If that "support" is not there at some point, especially for as such of a large force as the Army, those battles do not get won.  Just look at how everything has evolved over the past 20 odd years into a more hands off type of warfare with the use of precision bombing, UAV's, etc.  Granted in the past, the foot soldier was pretty much the deciding factor in how wars were won, but now the times have changed.

How do you know most of those Marines aren't better than what they really are?  Like I said before, have you gone what they have gone through?  Have you seen what they have seen?  Just the same they haven't what you have, and the swagger comes with that Eagle, Globe, and Anchor that they wear so proudly, it's something that's ingrained in us from Boot Camp.

Just remember, It's a sad dog that won't wag it's own tail.

Hijack over, hopefully someone has a few more funny posters to put up.

Negative, its technically a pistol that way. If it has a barrel under 16 inches thats the only legal way to own one, is for it to technically be a pistol. If you put a stock on it (which is easy to do) its illegal unless you have an SBR (short battle rifle) tax stamp or something like that.

The goofy looking M4 things are what is know as .223/556mm "pistols".  Bushmaster makes a type of "pistol" that are basically cut down Bushmaster XM15s.
