I see 2 Rooks on......  (this is where you reply back telling me that you and BearDawg switched for balance, right?)  Shame you don't have the screenie showing no Rooks.....  Like you're saying happened.    :neener:

And if you don't mind me saying so........

In the evenings, when Rooks are at their highest numbers, the wee hours of the American mornings, they do the same thing.  In fact, EVERYBODY does the same thing.

What on Earth are you crying about?  All 3 countries do this very thing any chance they get.

BUT....  So you and whoever were already having a PM convo?  If not, then I'm with you.  Capturing the undefended bases will always happen, but I don't think there is a need to rub it in anybody's face.  Not even your mug VonMessa......  :D

 :salute

P.S.  I'm not sure who that is, but I'll out milkrun all 3 of them.......  :aok

Now I know who you speak of!!!   :lol

What had me  :rofl  was a memory of a not too long ago post about the "#1 base taking squad" coupled with the back-slapping, grab-assing, high-five's they were giving each other this morning.

Title: Re: WTG #1 milk running skwad !
Post by: BaldEagl on May 06, 2010, 09:04:13 AM
It seems capturing undefended bases has infiltrated even the best of squads.

I think it was last week the <formerly respected squad name removed> were rolling undefended bases in LWB.  I killed five of them in a T-34 at the first base then 2 more from a manned ack at the second.  After that I moved to the other side of the map where people actually wanted to fight while the <formerly respected squad name removed> rolled up another 3-4 bases against no opposition except the mighty toolsheds.  To think they were'nt backslapping after each capture would be ludicrous.  It's really sad as I used to respect those guys.

But that's just the most recent example.  I could name dozens of squads who do this regularily.  So, you're point is?

But now what is the difference if it's one player or his squad?  (ie. 3 or 4 members online in the morning)

I will sometimes take an A8 and deack a V-Base, then slip a goon or M3 in.  Is that just as bad?

Do you then pat yourself on the back by typing "WTG 41!" into the chat buffer?

No. Milkrunning ain't necessarily a bad thing at all.

But erupting into WTG orgies after capturing undefended bases is a bit... well: silly. ;)

(almost as bad as freaking out on CH200 or on PMs when actually a defender dares to show up and kills your goon)

HECK NO, not usually.  It may because of conversations like this, I almost feel ashamed of doing it.  If somebody else on country is aware it was me, and they say something, I may say "TY"

Do you then pat yourself on the back by typing "WTG 41!" into the chat buffer?

Or perhaps I'll throw a smile out if a bunch of peeps are wtg'ing.   But wtg'ing yourself is just plain ole silly.

(aww heck, I guess I am just as bad   :(   )

pointing out a un-named squad in public that does it, is silly too. It's just a game! lets not forget the un-named players and un-named squads that hide carriers, pork radars, pork ords, hordes bases and other silly and un-named things.  :D

Llogann,

Sometimes we're bored.  I've milked a couple of vbases at off hours over the years.  Heck, one of my all time favorite kills came from doing that when a P-38L showed up to kill my C-47 and I pulled a maneuver that was calculated to lure him into the ground, which he obliged.  That is my one and only intentional kill with the C-47.  I didn't get the base, but I got a good memory.

I agree with everything you say.

Have you not read enough to understand my point?  I know you are smarter than that.

The point was to share the humor.  It was not about the milking of the bases, it was about the "We're Awesome" attitude they had for taking undefended bases that immediately made me think of this.............

Again, if score doesn't matter to you why let it matter to you  :headscratch:
Another post on "how I could care less about score" yet you sux if you go for score  :headscratch:

Honestly who cares if they take "undefended" bases does that alter your gaming experience? I mean it was undefended meaning you cared NOT to show up also, so who gives a crap?
and if they butt slap well, they must be having fun.

I find it comical how most peeps bag on score tards except they FAIL to bag on the #1 score tard! Kinda hypocritical me thinks.

Ah! the faces change yet the story stays the same. "Days of our AH lives"

You guys are TEH AWWSUM !!    :aok

The tactical genius displayed by your capturing of Rook bases when there weren't any Rooks in the arena was breathtaking.

The fanny slapping and "WTG's" that ensued on country channel after capturing those bases was a nugget of pure comedy gold.

The prowess displayed by you when capturing undefended V-bases after there were finally 2 folks playing as Rooks in the arena was genuinely display of your l337 skilz.

Finally, the lame attempt at being coy, in a PM to me about how awesome you all are?     Well , that one had me chuckling the entire commute to work.

You are a legend in your own mind.

P.S.  Your website shown on your squad stats page = fail.  You had better fix it, so you can show the world how awesome you are.   :aok

FAIL.  Not muppets.

Can't say that I've ever done it.  I did participate in a Nomads goonie raid in Airwarrior where a bunch of us took goons and all bailed with the troops.  Somehow we captured the field, not even intending too.

But that was 1997 so I think I'm the statute of limitations is up on that one.

I will confess that the 80th and SAPP on occasion have discussed taking a base deep in bad guy land to set up the Alamo, but usually Raptor rips the wings off the C47 so it never works.

I do believe the point of Von's post however, was how silly it was for folks taking a base against no opposition to be congratulating themselves on 200 for a job well done.

I seldom do milk runs.  The fact of the matter is, last night, we were rolling undefended bases with (0) Rooks on.
The "WTG" was for the effort given to take a town down with a set of B-25's and 1 M3.  Now "41" was an Airfield that is the "Screenshot".  Three to four lines of country before that was a comment that "WTG's" are not necessary on undefended bases.  I simply replyed that I would say, "WTG to whomever I wanted to."  When I announced on country channel the plan to take V61, the originator of this post changed countries to bust the simple (2) man mission to take it.  He then brought out an M-8 to kill me in the M3.  I bailed and gave him a proxy kill.  Two minutes later, I reupped and took the base.  Now this is aproximately 7:00Am eastern.  Only me and another of my squadies was on when this took place.  Don't critisize my Squad for being milkrunners....I was just doing like averybody else does if the opportunity is there.  I like winning Wars and getting the 25 perks in each catagory.  Who doesn't?

The "PM" was accidental I assure you.  I was going to PM you calling you a "DWEEB" for changing countries to bust a mission that you read on country channel.  I just let it go and did not call you a DWEEB.  However; when we took 41, I didn't hold down the shift key and I accidentally "PM"d the originator of this thread.  I did reply saying that I was sorry for "PMing".  So, If you are going to "Whine", and "Make fun" of my Squad, make sure everyone knows all the story and not just your part.  Seems one sided.  Besides, I pay my money to play however I want to play..and I have fun playing the way I do....and actually your point is to "Put down" my Squad when my Squad had nothing to do with what went on.  SO GROW UP!!!!!! :neener:

I can care less about the war, I prefer a nice even battle. the 25 perks can be earned in an hour -- or less, I recall getting 7.20 perk for 1 kill last nite, in hurricane 1 in about 10 mins.. and I was killed.

Hes laughing AT them, like most of us.

This is what happens when you spend time with them chess peice warrior generals that insist its about winning the war.  They imbed into your minds that its  a race to reset in which fact, it is not.

I am not going to sit here and bash you or call you noobs for going after undefended targets, but you have to realize here, there is the bigger picture.
The concept of putting bases here that are capturable are put in to give all folks incentive to fight eachother, not the means to which we play. Otherwise, we will see numbers the way we do in the WW1 arena.

Too many people I see as the years progress here are logging on, looking at the map, and taking oppurtunity to avoid interaction with other players by attacking feilds either NOE or hording with unimaginable #s. Which is bad gameplay. Trust me when I say this is bad because no matter what side you are on, people that play this way hate this style of play when its them defending. So why do we play in ways that would piss us off if we were faced with the same gameplay?

Its your $$$. If thats what you consider fun for your 15$ a month..so be it. I can almost gaurantee that if you stick to this game for a few years, you will get burned out by playing the real estate game and move on to killing red things and you will be posting comments on the BBS on the new guys hording undefended targets.

What I see the OP trying to communicate here (probably in not so kind words) is the fact above. Im sure it would of been anyone else besides your squaddies, the outcome would been the same. I would be upset too logging on only to see everyone racing to reset the map. Just my .02

Nope, actually came on as a Bish (if you took the time to read my post thoroughly)

Second, chess pieces really mean squat.  The only important country is the one my squad is on when I am on.

Third, my bellybutton is beyond hurting.  Uncle Sam opened a pretty wide gap there between Airborne school and R.I.P.  There aren't too many others that can compare to the chafing that he provides.

Thanks for being  so concerned about my bellybutton though  .............     :noid

OK, not everyone...Just the players that are interested in "Taking Bases" do it.  You care less cause you like to furball or you like air to air combat or whatever the reason..You care less about "Taking Bases.  There are Squads in all three countries that like to "Take Bases".  No Matter how this game was suppose to be played, some like to furball and some like to organize Base Taking Missions.  If Bases weren't meant to be taken, then why did they put in the "Mission Planner".  There are many ways to play this game...I pay my money to play it the way I want to play it!!!!!!  But I think you missed the whole point of the thread anyway.  The Originator of this thread was just trying to "Make Fun Of" the guys that were rolling "Undefended" Bases and typing on country "WTG".  And he missed the whole concept of the "WTG" in the screenshot as far as that goes anyway.  This THREAD is stupid and misconceaved.

I can care less about the war, I prefer a nice even battle. the 25 perks can be earned in an hour -- or less, I recall getting 7.20 perk for 1 kill last nite, in hurricane 1 in about 10 mins.. and I was killed.

Should've been in MW lastnight, 26 perks for 3 kills in a 109F (15-20 minute sortie). :neener:
The 25 perks received after winning a war is over-rated.

I've seen your squad try and take defended bases, it is akin to a group of suicidal lemmings that practice/believe in reincarnation.

Being on a Team means something to most people, not so much to others........
Teamwork and the piss-off factors are what makes it for me.
If you don't want to be a team player, that is OK, but don't expect to have many close buddies or be included
in all the reindeer games.
I guess you could make thousands of post though.

:noid

I like winning Wars and getting the 25 perks in each catagory.  Who doesn't?

To find fights, I switch countries so often that I can't remember the last time I got the "You got perkz for winning teh warz" message.  I bail out of perfectly good planes if the fight is somewhere else.  I spent close to two hours the other day as lone defender of an airbase against 4 guys and a CV in EW.  I died plenty, and so did they.  5 others on their side took an undefended base and then logged.  The 4 I was fighting finally got their watermelon together and took my base.  We all had a helluva fun time (I know at least I did).

This thread seems to have no point since it was explained the WTG PM was an accident and not meant for the creator of this thread to c. Really now, there were 12 sticks on at the time, why not gain some ground. As for the WTG's, does it really bother you so much that you need to announce it to the whole community? Or were you just so tired and bored you had nothing else to do? Either way nice cheap shot.

As for the WTG's, does it really bother you so much that you need to announce it to the whole community? Or were you just so tired and bored you had nothing else to do?  I would say they amused me , as opposed to, bothering me.  Especially after posts like this http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,275130.0.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,275130.0.html) Chest thumping about the number of (mostly undefended) bases you have captured in a tour is knee-slapping, piss-pants hilarious and I wanted to share the humor.  Actually, I was wide awake as I was working on my first cup of coffee and had to get ready for work soon, but hot damn, you were right about one thing.  I was EXTREMELY bored.  Either way nice cheap shot.  As cheap as or cheaper than rolling bases that didn't have anyone to defend them?

I don't recall anyone saying that we are awesome or anything resembling that remark.  Just a few simple "WTG's".  To me, it has become a "Habit" that, when a base is taken by my countrymen, no matter how it was taken, I simply type "WTG.  It really is NO BIG DEAL!!!  To take something so trivial and make something of it is just crying like a baby....Here,  I have a crying towel you can borrow. :cry

Roll film next time you are rolling undefended bases.

Watch them.

Observe the esprit de corps  that ensues about how great the teamwork was while taking an undefended base.

Therein lies the material for humor.

This squad your talking about takes heavily defended bases every night of the week. Just last night they took an air base that was defended by as many as 15+ fighters in the air over town defending it. And they lost several goons and LVT's trying. The goons were sneaked in and the base was taken because of practice and teamwork. Excellent teamwork and leadership is the reason this squad takes so many defended bases. As far as taking undefended bases in the early hours of the morning. What is wrong with practice? The leadership and organization of this squad is excellent. It makes the game a whole lot more enjoyable. How can a player who switches countries when conditions suit him have anything to say about a squad that is dedicated to the country they play for? Since you were complaining about taking undefended bases and the fact that you change countries. Why didn't you defend these bases? By the way. Jump school didn't kick my behind..

Taking undefended feilds and praising upon it is cheap and sleazy. Most that play here (and with just a slight bit of class) will acknowlege the fact that they participated in gamey behavior and feel dirty about it. **Example: "XXX landed 5 kills in LA7". If XXX was at feild 8 and landed 5 kills in a LA all by vulching, then is preceded with WTGs on 200, if the person had any sort of class will admit to the fact that they werent well earned. Which will then be followed by on 200. "Thanks guys, but they were all vulches".  It happens, noone is a saint that plays this game, but they know the difference of "good gaming behavior".

However, now you have a situation where there is NO opposing force, nobody there to make the capture "challenging" in any sort of way, and praising themselves on what a great accomplishment it is. Its the same as saying you won a hockey game with no other team or goalie to be there to face you in any way. What exactly have you accomplished and why are you proud? That a you managed to dodge a few computer generated ack guns that are in town?

No, it's not that at all man. I go from strictly furballing to base taking scorepotato mode several times a year and I understand both sides of each school of thought.

But what I don't understand is, #1 why on earth would a CO of a squad want 120 members, and #2 why do so many people feel the need to be part of nothing more then a mindless mob.

I personally enjoy knowing that if I'm on a mission with my squadmates, each man has a job to do and if we don't do our individual job, the success of the mission will be in jeopardy.
Being in a squad with 15 more guys behind me on standby to do what I failed at, is not something that would push me to improve my game. The pressure of knowing I must do my job right the first time is why I practice all different aspects of the game.
IMO the biggest part of the players in a mega squad have no desire to improve. They just merely join to be in a squad and nothing more. They only want to be able to say "hey I'm in a big squad". They don't know yet that the BIG squad equals BIG suckage, because there's 50 more on the roster with the same mindset.
If you ever have the good fortune to be in a squad where 1 or 2 guys can hold a base capped while you take the town down and another brings troops, you'll know what I mean. I can depend on any of my squaddies to get a job done by himself. They don't need 7 wingmen to take out the ord. Those are the players I like. And the squads I respect.

Nasty Deadmen are recruiting.  :salute
