So if you type the .e6b command, would you rather the information display on the text buffer? Or on the clipboard like it usually does?

What he said.

Right now all I push to see the E6B is the ESC key.

How about .clipboard command too?  I'm all for typing practice.  (sarcasm off)

Do it like the .sr command now. Certain things make .sr come up as a seperate window, such as already having it on the clipboard. It's brown, but effective.

Mind mentioning how you manage that?

Mind mentioning how you manage that?

ESC to open clipboard--click to open E6B--ESC to close clipboard.

Everytime I hit ESC to open clipboard after that, like magic, the E6B is still open on the clipboard.

Also great for getting a perfect calibration in bombers.

Really it's any alt level bombing, and sometimes max cruise is good for just stretching those last few drops to get you home.

Range, time, GPH, true speed, indicated speed, max cruise...pretty much everything that's given on there.

Sometimes its a question of whether you have the fuel to fight and still make it home. Sure there are a lot of people that bail after the fighting is over. Not everyone thinks like that and its wrong to try and force people into an alien way of thinking.

not against the dot command.  It is usfull but more like wondering why people have it open more than a few seconds to check.  I was flying a pony the other day, not a familiar plane, checked and saw that had 15 min left at full throttle.  minus 7 for rtb fuel left me with 8.  Which I stretched into almost twenty of air cap.  Few uppers. did it without having to check e6b every second.  U guys should really try to micro manage your planes.

Wanting a .e6b command doesn't mean that we check our e6b every second, it doesn't mean we don't understand the plane, we didn't say that.  We utilize it, you utilize it, who put it in your head that we're looking at this thing every second?

Again, no one said that.  I usually have E6B like AWwrgwy mentioned, bring it up, then use Esc to bring it back up, but sometimes I have to close it to look at something else.  A dot command isn't going to make a huge difference either way, but some people might find it handy.  Finding it handy doesn't mean we constantly stare at the thing.

The only way I would find it useful is if it provided a fixed, onscreen display such as damage or calibration. Might be a bit easier to utilize in the bomb site. Perhaps a duel functionality - dot command fixed on the screen, esc on the clipboard.

While it doesn't get used as much in the MA, for FSO or Scenarios, the E6B in my planes gets a workout.  There have been missions when the only time I didn't have it up was once I had a visual ID on the bad guys.

So, while it may be hard for you to fathom, folks have some utility for it.  Personally, I really enjoyed the "do you guys fly or fight" comment.

So you want more than one button you have to push to change manifold settings vs. + and - or throttle you have now?

Well, for instance, today we were practicing formation flying, and while I will probably get better at staying with the pack, and at the right speed, it would be much easier to just .command it. But, I guess practice makes perfect so....

I can see where you are coming from, but that just takes out the challenge and skill of it.  It's very possible to fly in formation together using manual control.

I think what he wants is a command to set rpm and manif to certain values to keep formation flying tight.

Oh, I know what he wants.

Read any account of formation flying and you will learn that jockeying the throttle back and forth was a necessary skill to keep one's position in formation.

It isn't as simple as hitting cruise control in game nor was it in real life.

As for the E6B thing, are we asking for a separate thing?  Like a HUD with the stats on it?

If so, a definite -1.

Again, you can already accomplish in game right now what the OP is asking for.

Is there a dot command to bring up the clipboard?  Honestly, I don't know nor would I see the point of typing .whatever instead of hitting a single key or mapped button to do the same thing.

As I understand it, the request is just for a ".e6b" command to bring it up rather than having to select it from the clipboard.  I don't believe it's asking for a HUD style display.  It's a very small request that managed to get a lot of attention.

No, you can leave it open and then open up the clipboard, not do what the OP says.  I'm quite amazed how vocal the opposition is to this.  This is something that would have a terrible tiny effect, and absolutely zero effect if you choose not to use it.  Yet, some will fight it tooth and nail.  I wouldn't mind seeing it but my heart won't be broken if it doesn't.

I like to lock my cursor to the center of the screen and hit H. Now it's not a big pain, but a bit annoying when you have to unlock, pull up the map, hit the E6B, bring the map back down, and lock the cursor into the center again.

Also your argument is moot because the E6B does not have a mapped button either.

Not opposition.  More like dissent.  You will never see me saying, "why did they add that?  I wish they would remove it."  That's opposition.

I just try to bring some perspective.  Why I think something may not be added by the developers or may not be needed.  Just my opinion.

But otherwise, you're spot on.  Don't mind me.

I do the same thing but I only have to unlock my cursor if I want to move the map around.  Otherwise it is still just hitting the ESC button and the E6B is open.

You don't need the cursor except for the first time.

How would it help as a quality of life issue?

I see no point in adding a command to do what you can do in game already with fewer keystrokes.

I think they should put carburetors with manual chokes back in cars.
