IF the B29 was to win (and if the HTC staff are taking the poll seriously) i think that a basic "cuban missile crisis" would happen (if we got the nuke) the main squads of each country would act as the government trying to not get nuked.then causing gameplay to come to a halt because the rooks, bish, knights would be unable to attack because of the B29 nuke threat?
well i cant really explain so everyone else just post your ideas

I think you need to find a girl and become a man.
-
Seeing as a nuke in a game has no repurcussions in real life, why would people stop to think before starting a furball?
Besides, there is about a 99.9999% chance the nuke won't even be included, just the massive bombload.
-
I think you need to find a girl and become a man.
Leave him be.
That is all.

(if we got the nuke)
It has been officially stated repeatedly: we never will.

We should try to get U-boats and Submarines first. C'mon HiTech, you know you want 'em.
Oops, just switched the subject of the thread, silly me.
-
I'd rather get some weather (doesn't have to be dynamic...), better and dynamic sounds, and a more realstic lookin' sky than any new planes putting about. As for the n00k, death in game≠game over.
-
Actually, it's a 100% chance that there will be no nuke. :lol I must laugh at people who think we will get zee n00k... Ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha HA Ha ha! :bolt:

I fail to see why we need a B-29? I agree with others there are many things that could be improved before we need a -29

I said 99.9999% because with HTC, almost anything is possible Acho*B-29*ooo!

I can tell you exactly what will happen if we get the B-29. There will be months of outcry on the forums about how the B-29 will ruin the game. GVers will be predict the end of the known GV fight in tank town as 29's will fly over in great masses and their magic bombs will obliterate everything. Fighters will worry that every single B-29 will be flying at 40,000 and will take down every field in a single pass killing the fights. The B-29 will eventually be released and the arena will be flooded with B-29s. Then in two weeks when the 'new' wears off, the B-29 will settle into it's place in the game. They will be seen high and low, and they will kill and be killed. The game with continue and everyone will find something new to whine about.

I need a B29. that should be good enough for you ;)
Also, when children ask for a n00k they should be spanked and sent to their room. FOREVER! (not refering to you RV, refering to the thread starter)

If I see a b29 in a tank town I'll take a 262 and obliterate it :D

I still say it's been said there won't be a B29, even if it was never publicized. :noid
I don't want to comment on possible outcomes while the poll is still live but that's never been said by anybody at HTC, even in private. It would be stupid to put something in the poll that we weren't willing to make. We have said before that we'll never do an atomic bomb.
Nope. I zay it's a zafe bet that ve vill not get zee n00k. BUT....then again...must think of Evil Con Mission. Hmm.... :headscratch: So maybe you have a point... Never know what that clever HTC bunch might do. :devil

No one said we are getting the nuke, the poll is for the B-29. The stock B-29 could not even carry a nuke, it was a field mod which HTC does not do.
-
I'm all for the nuke as long as when I shoot one down and if hits the ground the nooook cooks off.

Someone needs to dig up that old Loose Rivets comic where we get the B29.

All I can say, is if HTC adds the nuke with the B-29 if it wins, I better be seeing a Grand Slam bomb added to the lanc, no excuse not to.

We have said before that we'll never do an atomic bomb.
I almost never say never, an exception to that is an atomic bomb.

Which if it's not perked, and perked WELL, means virtually replacing every other heavy bomber in the air except for the handful of players who fly planes purely for their history, because it's a favorite, or the challenge of so-called "inferior" rides.
As it stands right now, each of the three heavies has its own advantages. The Lancaster has its bomb load, the B-17 has durability, and the B-24 has speed. The B-29 matches the Lancaster in loadout, is faster than all three, and there's little question on its ability to take damage. This is definitely an aircraft that NEEDS perking.
-
There will never be a nuke....... but at one time I thought it was said, "there would never be a B-29".
I think the B-29 would be the worst addition to AH for obvious reasons.

+1 Fully agree. I don't see HTC NOT perking this uber bomber.
Regardless the payloads provided (this is if the B-29 even wins the vote) i see this being perked, easily. If not then oh darn, people will have to learn to adapt to the most simple solution.... a porked base allows NO B-29's. Problem solved...if not then grab a plane, shoot them down, and move on. All of this riff-raff about the B-29 is just about rediculous IMO. If it happens, well it happens. If the 410 wins then that is its own story. Just stating my opinion. :bolt:

do people even read any of the replies from HTC? Pyro already clearly stated there will be no atomic bomb added to the game, so why do people insist on bring up nightmare scenarios related to something that will never be added to the game?
ack-ack
-
Pyro should post a permenant sticky in the Wishlist / Aircraft and Vehicles areas saying HTC policy is no Nuke if/when the B29 is ever added to the game.
Once the bomb starts being dropped once a day and KILLING everyone in a country, most of the membership will cancel their accounts because there will be no game left to play. But, then no one ever accused CARTOON GAME players of being very bright. How many MMOG games stayed in business over the years because everyone used aimbots, hacked MOD's, DOS attackers and cable switches because they were in the best intrests of the games longevity?
A nook would be HTC introducing the biggest hack in the world to this game. Bunch of short sighted NUMPTIES..........tells me why you can't get anyone to fight anymore without 12 freinds above 15k backing him up.

Hundreds of thousands of bombs dropped from the bellies of the SuperFortress's.......................
2 were nukes.

Was not a lot of B-29 damage incendiary bombs on Tokyo?
I understood the city was systematically burnt to the ground by fire bombing in sectors to inflict the most civilian deaths and by the surrender 50% of Tokyo was burnt to the ground. Those citizens that were not dead would be homeless and a strain on resources. In effect it's better to burn somebody than vapourise them because ash doesn't need medical attention. That notwithstanding why waste billions of 1940's dollars and not have something to show at the end of it? So a couple of cities were fried to prove a point. And don't dish out that Pearl Harbour stuff - Pearl Harbour was a military target.
But that's the truth and you can't build that into a game. Even the nuclear weapons were aimed at civilians and as there are no civilians in the game it has no relevance. In terms of gameplay it's just another bomber that flies virtually straight and drops bombs on fields. It adds nothing. It doesn't need to - it's a good, no great, game as it is - emphasis on game - large and overriding emphasis on game.
-
Even the nuclear weapons were aimed at civilians
Did Japan have any specific military targets left? :bolt:

Nukes are stupid in real life, but in the game they'd be useless and stupid. Added to the fact that we know we won't get them, OP is irrelevant (and wrong).

That is actually a myth, the firebombing of Tokyo was never intended to inflict the most civilian deaths or the raids to be used as "terror raids" against the civilian population. The parts of Tokyo that were fire bombed were actually military targets as a lot of these civilian districts housed factories to make parts for weapons, ships, planes, vehicles, etc. A lot of the Japanese industry wasn't housed in large factories like you saw in the States, but rather were spread out amongst small workshop/factories that were located within these civilian districts. The civilians that lived in these districts would also worked in these workshop/factories.
Because of the decentralized nature of Japanese industry, it was tough to target strategic production facilities as while bombing these would destroy the end product, the small factories that made the parts were still operating. Massive carpet bombing with regular bombs wasn't effective, so it was decided to switch to incendiary bombs as they would be far more effective as they'd burn out the neighborhood, destroying whatever small workshop/factories that were there and the added benefit of killing the skilled labor it took to operate the machinery and produce the parts needed for Japan's war machine.

Naw, nukes aren't stupid at all. Whether you want to believe it or not, nukes have kept the major powers from going to war with each other. M.A.D. has been the best deterrence and has so far prevented another full scale world war.

I think dropping them on civilian targets is wrong, but I agree that they're not stupid (even if only due to the point you just made).

No offense to those that got atomized but it ended the war and saved millions of lives of Allied servicemen and also civilians. So, you can say that dropping an atomic bomb actually saved more civilians than would have been killed otherwise during the invasion and battle for Japan.

What you need is a Doomsday machine on the map and 50 hydrogen bombs jacketed with Cobalt thorium G. Once an atomic detonation is detected, the machine will detonate all bombs, therefore covering the map in a shroud of radioactivity with a half-life of 93 years.
-
You're about as right as you can get Ack-Ack. Once everyone realised that "One flash You're ash" was the theme tune for the next world war all crew decided to keep the conflict to puppet countries, spy planes and playing "chicken" with subs.
Closest stupidity ever came to town was Cuba and that ended pretty lamely.
Nukes aren't stupid and neither are guns, tanks or sharp scissors. Only the idiots at the controls can be. Anyway how long does it take to get a B-29 up to 30K feet? (assuming that is the introduced plane) - turn the gamma down, smash the field and make another cup of coffee for the ride home.
It's not exactly excitement with a big E is it? Wouldn't a twin engined heavy fighter/light bomber be more appropriate to our game? But majority and "squeaky wheels" will always be at the front of the line. Time will tell.

Nobody at HTC ever said no to the B-29. Some players claimed they did and that took off in the playerbase's mind, but it is false.

Of course, the whole point of a Doomsday Machine is lost, if you *keep* it a *secret*! Why didn't you tell the world, EH?
It was to be announced at the Party Congress on Monday. As you know, the Premier loves surprises.
-
Ignoring the part about a nuclear detontation being exceedingly difficult to model in our game, It doesnt make sense on any level. I feel the B29(with conventional ords) will add a new dynamic to gameplay that we do not currently have.

Many years ago HTC said they were going to add a thing called Combat Trim to the game in order to help new pilots out. Months before the release people cried on the forums, "Arcade Mode" many called it, others said it would be the end of Aces High all together. I remember open letters to Hitech and crew being posted and the constant whines and speculation over what the system would do. In the end Combat Trim was released and after that no one really said anything. Why? Because it wasn't a big deal and didn't change the game like everyone doomed and gloomed about.
I see a correlation between some of the whines of old like combat trim and the introduction of the B29. Like Jayhawk has posted, everyone is saying this is the end and how bad the B29 will be for the game, however, in reality once the new wears off it's just going to be another bomber. Pilots will go back to using Lancstuckas to bomb the lone GV and or CV, B17s / B24s will go back to porking airfields and hangers, and every so often you'll see the B29 come in and blow a bunch of stuff up.
Look on the bright side everyone, maybe HTC will give us both planes and then you can hunt down B29s IN your Me410. :)
-
I hope the fire control gets modelled. I'll be gunning B29s for months.
