Title: Original Callsigns...
Post by: W7LPNRICK on January 23, 2011, 10:27:42 PM
Before I picked my callsign I checked around to make sure nobody was using it. What do you guys think, I mean we have about 4 or 5 Hawks of various spelling, even 1 or 2 Skuzz-Meister near homonyms, and many more. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so that other "Weasel" wanna-be must want to grow up just like me some day.  :neener:  Teasing aside I would want a callsign that means something to me personally. If yours is unique why did you pick it?

Post by: Banshee7 on January 23, 2011, 10:33:49 PM
I started as Ghost51.  Couldn't come up with a good unique name so I went with "Ghost" because I thought I'd attack people so fast that they would think a ghost killed them, and "51" because I was a brainwashed teen who had been told the P-51 was the "best" fighter of WW2.

Stuck with Ghost for a few tours, added squad number to it, etc.

Banshee7 came about when I had become considered one of the most hated squeakers in the game.  Got caught in the wrong crowd and stuff.  "Banshee" came from three things--1.)  I used to ride a friends Yamaha Banshee all the time.  2.)  The P-51B named "Beantown Banshee"  3.)  It sounded cool.  The "7" came along because of the overused 'lucky #7"

I think I'm the only Fugitive. I picked it after a very short break. I had been MDJOE for years both here and in AWIII. I was part of the 444th Air Mafia for all of those years as well. In the "mob" we had a saying, "There is only one way out of the Mafia, in a pine box!" So when I left the Mafia, I became the "Fugitive"   :D

I was Mensa, or some variation of it, until now.  I have always used the Mensa name, originally using it before I even knew there was an organisation or its latin/spanish meanings.  I reinstalled the game a month back and Mensa was no longer available.  Princess was the only title that felt natural to adopt.  Also I felt the need to steal Lew's thunder as the only woman in the squad.

They all think is stands for Super or Stealth or something like that. I've heard em all.
As far as the Squad Name "Wings Of Terror" my wife came up with it.
She used to ask me "are you terrorizing little kids again?"

Post by: SectorNine50 on January 24, 2011, 01:35:46 AM
Mine's pretty boring...  And looking back, kind of materialistic...

Sector Nine is the first brand of longboard (a cruising skateboard, essentially) I ever got.  SectorNine was taken for an e-mail address, so I added a 5, that was taken, so I added a 50 and that worked.  SectorNine50 stuck for a long time in almost everything I did.

Welp.  This game came around, and SectorNine50 didn't fit into the game ID box... and I had just recently acquired a Saab 9-5 Aero that I was having a grand 'ol time with, so the name turned into Sector95.

Now Sector95 is what I use for almost everything (still will use SectorNine50 from time-to-time).

I'll make a long story short.  We were in a meeting and somebody looked at me and called me a 'walking talking dichotomy'.  Been using some variant of that for 15 years as email and webname.  Joined the game, got recruited by Daddog, and changed it to Dichodog.

I get callled 'Ditchdog' all of the time on vox which is also appropriate.

Zoney is a semi-derragotory name that Southern California residents have for folks that vacattion there from Arizona.  I have had it for 15 years, from AirWarrior to WarBirds and now for Aces High.  I did just recently change it in-game to AKZoney when I was allowed to join the Arabian Knights and everyone in our squad adds the "AK" when they are accepted.

Back when i started playing in AW i was sitting next to the pc trying to come up with a name so I was 21 at the time and had a cold case of this Sitting next to me then the Name Mols came alive then when I transferred to Aces High I made it into Molsman(http://www.valencialiquor.com/images/bucket-molson.jpg)

Had to change my name due to other reason cause the name stuck with me for outside of Game Activities so now I go by crazy8s not for the game Crazy8s but supposed to mean crazyace just went with the 8 to shorten it due to my erratic flying style

I was TXLAW in AW which stood for TexasLawman.  Did something a little different this time arround.  Picked Texican for this definition.(  Texican: Someone who lived in Texasduring the republic of Texas;  A person who thinks Texas offers more to the USA than the USA offers Texas; A person born and raised in Texas;  Texan with a can do attitude.). Not because I'm half Texan and half Mexican which I am not pic below.

Played an online RPG for several years. I was too lazy to be original so I would click "generate nanme" until something interesting popped up.  "Becinhu" appears and I settle on it since most of the generated names were in the realm of Tjkeidfuihjeksdo.  The RPG then installs emotes, one of which was "beckon you".  The name took on a new twist because since the character was a nightshade I was able to go stealth and opponents got to see "Becinhu beckons you".  Pronunciation became Bec-in-hu or "beckon you".  Found AH, was lazy, figured Becinhu would work here too.  First squad in game JG44/JV44 Nighthawks started calling me "be seeing you".  Plus it's really funny listening to people on range try to figure out how to pronounce my name.  :neener:

I was TXLAW in AW which stood for TexasLawman.  Did something a little different this time arround.  Picked Texican for this definition.(  Texican: Someone who lived in Texasduring the republic of Texas;  A person who thinks Texas offers more to the USA than the USA offers Texas; A person born and raised in Texas;  Texan with a can do attitude.). Not because I'm half Texan and half Mexican which I am not pic below.

First AH callsign was Slack, taken from a Spitfire XII pilot I got to know named Tom Slack.  When I decided to get the 80th going, it was time for a change.  A nice photo of a single engine, early model 38 from the 80th coming into land made all the sense in the world.  CorkyJr it was.  Fester later was kind enough to skin this bird for me so I get to fly around with my AH ID on my 38G

I think I'm the only Fugitive. I picked it after a very short break. I had been MDJOE for years both here and in AWIII. I was part of the 444th Air Mafia for all of those years as well. In the "mob" we had a saying, "There is only one way out of the Mafia, in a pine box!" So when I left the Mafia, I became the "Fugitive"   :D

i;m kind of curious though? why do you have the shadow in your thinghie over there?

I forgot & left mine off. I had the privilege to pack the ejection seat parachutes, drag chutes, and survival equipment in several F-4 Phantom Models (The Lead Sled because it hated to stop on the runway) including the F-4G Wild Weasel. It was used in late Viet-Nam as the EF-4C replacing the F-105 Thuds, in 75 it was the EF-4E, & Early Desert Storm as F-4G's. First in with ARM missiles like the AIM-9 to take out radar installations.

I could use mine, K5TEN, but think ROX is more remembered.

There are at least 2 other hams active besides us....maybe even more.

Back in Air Warrior there were about 10 active hams that played and used 75m SSB as their voice comms.  The folks listening thought they were crazy.  SWL's thought they were hearing "real" kills.  Funny stuff.

I've always been of the opinion that a callsign that works like an actual name is way better than one like those ham radio signs.  Rox or Norm are way easier to see and say and remember than any combination of letters and numbers could be.  They work like a name and I feel like you become somewhat more real to the other guys in game.  Just my opinion, but it's based on having seen a lot of callsigns over the years in a number of games.

When I signed up, I was asked for a gameid.  My passion is motorsports racing, specifically Sports Car Club of America, so I choose SCCA.  Little did I know at the time, people would be calling me by that name.  I heard SC, sikka and my squad at the time called me Skah.  When I was invited to join the AK's, I decided a more speakable name was in order, so I went with AKMeathd.  Besides being easy to say, it's the name of one of the race teams at my local track.

I also figured I wouldn't need to worry about anyone else picking something too similar to MtnMan.  That was true until last year, when I saw a MtnMan1 around for a while.

Well, when I first started I was a numbers guy. My number was B67891.

I flew with Hells Assasins under Archer10. But my wing leader was none other than squeaker of the year 2008... BOTKINS aka NanoCrew. He formed his own squad and rallied all his friends to join, I being known as "B6" to everyone I knew kept the serial number in front. I changed to B6Dogftr, and it was my name for about 4 months, I gave the name to the squad "The 95th RAF Battlehawks" from the video game Secret Weapons Over Normandy.

In this squad was.... - JohnnyJr, Botkins, Crzythnu, Trinity3, 797Nerd (79Nerdie, my best friend on the web), B6Dogftr (me), hcetih (imagine 800Nate with LITERALLY no genetalia), Ruler2 and BlueB1RD.

After all this Squeaking I decided that when the squad broke up, (as Squeak Squads do) I took the name that I have gone by my entire life. "Pacman"

It is made up of my name - Peter Arthur Charles Lawrance, drop the L cause its a web name and you have PAC... PACman. Add the B6 on the front and you have a perfect 8 letter name.

I want to see the cars too!

Heres the skinny on how to post a picture.

1. go to PhotoBucket (http://photobucket.com/) and sign up for a free account. Once you are signed up it will send you to your photo page.

2. At the top of your "album" page there will be a green button that says "upload now". Click that.

3. Click the green "Select photos and video" button. This will open your computers directory.

4. Browse to where ever you have saved the pictures on your computer. Most people save them (as well as default settings on programs) to the "My Documents folder or a sub folder called "My Pictures". Click on the picture you want to upload (hold down the "cntrl" button to select multiple pictures) and then click upload.

5. Once the upload finishes, click save and continue to save the pictures to your "album.

6. hold the mouse over the picture you want to post and a small pop-up type window will open. The bottom selection has an IMG tag in it, click that one.

7. open the "new post" here on the boards and paste (cntrl v) the IMG code to the window, and click post.

I started with Simaril, because A) I've always liked Tolkien, especially his ancient lore stuff (I.e. the Silmarillion); B) other cool names like Nazgul were taken; and C) I didn't spell it right when I originally created the account.

The Silmarillion were stones that captured the light of original creation, and were the cause of any number of knock-down, drag out wars.

My first callsign was "Dibo" back in AW.  I was in high school, and working at a Burger King...  Every night at 11, "Mandatory Metallica" would be on the radio.  I always went to the back of the store and switched the channel to listen to it.  There were two Mexican dudes that worked with me, and they started calling me "Diabolito" (while headbanging and doing the "goat horn" rock-n-roll sign).   :devil  Man, I miss being 17 and ignorant....  Well, I'm still ignorant, but 32 now.   :D

Long ago in the era of Warbirds BWB (Before Wild Bill), my leet F4U skills prompted the handle 'augr'.  Back in those days we could only afford 4 characters for a handle.  You young whippersnappers have it so good now.  It's been some variation ever since.

Now get off of my lawn!

Holy COW.....I thought you picked that name because you looked like the old chieftan in the original Star Trek series.....he was the TeeArr (chief)

Ouch! We're dating ourselves. I remember that episode and really dug on it. I'm an original Trekkie.  :old:

first name i ever had was mgp. it stood for "machine gunning person" (i was a "newb" back then,)
next was XxnovaxX (in favor of my then favorite song, supernova by Ra)

and now, my favorite. Tyrannis.  :O

when i thought up Tyrannis, i thought i was being sumwhat original. (sure, i had named it because my favorite animal is a t.rex, but i still considered it original).

and then i fine out EVE has a class of ship called "tyrannis".

those jerks ripped off my name.  :huh  :furious  :(
