lol Dan, looks like someone forgot to select machine guns after dropping tanks and you still got the kill.
Absolutely true! In the 'panic' of the moment, much as apparently happened to the real guys, I was trying to decide should I keep the tanks, as it was a single 109 I turned in on that was headed towards the bombers. I set thought I selected tanks and tried to punch them off but fired the 50s instead!. He was pulling away so I selected tanks, punched them off and began to gain, forgetting to select guns again and by that time I was so into it I didn't notice I hadn't until I'd been shot at and chased to the deck and I was running for home!
Thankfully I didn't punch off the tanks and have the engine quit! :)
-
yeah, i'll post some tonight.

You know how I fly in the MA. Scenarios are a different ballgame :aok
-
A lot of the photos from the allied side are just showing them flying around at altitude and not getting into much action. I know there are some kill screen shots because allies had more kills in the practice frame than the axis.

Of of the things that happens to some of us history junkies, in particular on long escort flights, is you get caught up in the way the game can connect with your imagination from all those stories you've read over the years. I think thats the immersion part of what a scenario can provide. That you can be flying wing in a formation of fighters escorting boxes of bombers over "Germany' is really kind of cool. I think that's why you see more of those kind of screenshots, as its not something you'll see in the MA. The correct skins, the right planes covering the right planes etc makes for some really nice screenshots that connect that history to the game.
-
As many of you know Scenarios are where immersion is available. You ARE a real escort fighter. You ARE a LW Pilot trying to get the Bombers
who are destroying your homeland, your city, maybe your house and family. The LW Pilot targets the "Dicke Autos" and are trying to avoid the "Indianers"
for the most part to get the bombers. After all....it's the bombers who are destroying your country, not the Fighters.
This Scenario as DGS did provides the MOST opportunity in this game to be a Real Virtual Escort or "Whites of their Eyes" Bomber Killer. This Scenario actually
parodies what really occurred over Europe during the Biggest Air War in History during WWII. The Mighty Eighth versus the Luftwaffe!
Here is the reality from an 8th Fighter Pilot Escort. He will be flying over enemy held territory with limited range. If he goes down he is out. If he goes down his
Squadron mates have one less aircraft to defend the bombers with. There will be no help coming the range is to great. The fighters lose aircraft and find it
more difficult to defend the bombers. Damaged LW aircraft land and replane and get right back into battle. Low fuel LW Pilots land and rearm and get back into
the fray since it's over their homeland. In the meantime the Allies are losing bombers and more fighters. And here comes the LW again in strength. What used to be 50
escorts is down to 29. What used to be 300 bombers is down to 260......that's 10 crew per plane X 40. 400 good men were lost in Bombers, plus 11 more in escorts.
And here comes the LW again in force to attack the remnants of the Bombardment Group....and the escorts. It will be somewhat easier now but never a piece of cake
to get to the Bombers. The LW has downed 21 escorts so far, and the Allies will lose more escorts and bombers in this next attack.
Lot's of escorts took themselves out of escort range by getting lower then the bombers making the bombers easier targets. Discipline is needed and smarts. Sometimes
a cold pass to get the fighter off the bombers is more valuable then a one on one kill. Why? Because it's the bomber and it's crew that is most important. The bombers
are knocking out factories, cities, sub pens. The fighters can't do that..they are there to keep the bomber crew on target to deliver its' deadly ord. That is what is
important. That is what will close down Germanys' war production and thus end the war.
As an escort fighter remember why you are there. To get the Bombers to target. I'd much rather stay alive and keep shooing flies off the Bombers so they can deliver
their payload, then get kills and see the bomber group I was escorting destroyed or made in-effective because of low numbers. I'd anyday trade getting home alive, being effective
aggressive, and smart at the same time, with no kills and the majority of my bombers make it home with eggz delivered.
Remember why you are there. Unless you've been forced lower you don't belong there. If you follow cons to the deck you've just taken yourself out of the game. You are useless.
You are useless to your squadmates who are disciplined, and the bombers they escort.
That was and is the reality!
-

Just clearing the Jew
that is somewhat offensive...he probably doesnt mind it, but im sure others will.
-
What? His name is Der Jude, know what that means in English?
Not to mention it is just a religion what is the big deal? Would you be offended if I called you a Christian?
-
What? His name is Der Jude, know what that means in English?
Yes i do, but it seems offensive to blatenly call someone by their religion like that...
-
Yes i do, but it seems offensive to blatenly call someone by their religion like that...
well until jonah says something I call him jude or jew. It is obvious to any one who knows him he has no problem with it.
-
Once again Joach1m I did not call him by his religion, I called him by his name.
-
Yeah whenever we run out of ammo we go straight to politics don't we? I know deep down no one honestly cares or is offended because I know most of us aren't old enough to truly care. Unless, of course, they are more mature, which i have no control over. Whatever the case, lets get back to posting more pictures please.
-
ya, what jude said

A good Pickfest! :rock

Also was my mistake was only 5 G6s :P
-
This is a screenshot thread not film thread. I was there and I have the film also. No need to post for me to see it.
And why are you proud of a pickfest? Just proves your lameness further. Remember, there was a time when you wouldve been one of the 5 bein picked and we couldve been kickin all those Jugs' asses. So sad that that day is gone. You have turned to enjoying pickfests. :rock
Have fun at 33.9k <S>
-
nobody is talking to you.I dont see anything in here that states i cant post films
-
Bone, you dont wanna go there with me, I have some films that you would not like to be put out to the public. I am sure you can think of a Few.

*Ding Ding*
Neutral corners :)
Let's try as hard as possible to have One Single Event that doesn't degrade into this type of mess. Just one, that isn't asking too much is it?
-
Nope. If you feel the need to continue this Bone you can always PM me.
-
why continue ? lol you have done enough for me. Roc i apologize Sir just wanted to post a film from BoG :salute Sir

Also got my revenge on perdweeb for killing my other engine last frame ;)
-
Was blacked out at that moment, some other Allied twit sprayed and a lucky 50 hit me and my radiator. Extreme luck was against me last night.
Why does everyone post their perdweeb kills? I dont get it.

Actually the screenshot is of tudza kill.. but anyways, I'd be honored if everyone posted kills of me, so take it as a compliment :)
Also the word lucky could be used for the way you hit me in the radiator in Frame 2 while I flashed infront of you at 350-400 mph, I was equally lucky since after my other engine quit the 109's chasing me for some reason let of their chase although they were 1k away and on the deck and closing, maybe the reason was, it took me an hour to get back home on 1 engine :)

I died the same way, radiator hit, and my pilot died not my plane. But sir, you have a good point, be honored that everyone posts my dead carcass.
Yes, but you weren't moving. Your SA failed you my friend and that is why I got the "lucky shot." But, after reviewing film, you are the lucky one cuz I usually dont miss with gondies and I did. You lived.

Hmm. According to the film, I raked your 109 from wingtip to wingtip twice, so I guess the allied "twit" was me :D Nothing to with luck tho.

This was my 2nd frame. Think I have a total of 1 kill (maybe only an assist) and 3 deaths. BOG is a completely different game than the MA, definitely a different animal at 30k, especially in a plane I don't usually fly. guess I'll spend some time in the MA and DA in a 109 this week!

Why I love them, totally different investment and return with the time you take and put into them from the usual MA routine.

Little secret: If you can learn the 109's characteristics, u can be good. If you learn the tater and the characteristics, you are unstoppable.

How do you guys get screen shots like this?..I filmed the last event...can you get screen shots from film?
Thanks 999000
-
Pose film viewer as you like. Pause it. Adjust camera. Go full screen. wait for all textures to display properly. Hit printscreen.
Exit full screen. Open graphics editor (photoshop, whavever, or just a new blank bitmap if you are in a hurry) and paste what is in your clipboard to the graphics program. Crop image. Save image.

AH Film Viewer > load saved film file > play through and pause where desired with whatever camera angle you also desire.
Hit the "Print Scrn" button on your keyboard, next to F12.
Open Paint (Start > Programs > Accesories) > paste (edit > paste) > save as (pick *.jpg file format).
To post online, get a free account somewhere like photobucket.com and then upload your saved screenshots. Copy and use the link to the pictures that they provide you after you upload them.

First, a couple of points that should be pretty obvious based on the pics:
1) this is actually the first time ever for me capturing a screenshot from AH film, Just learned how today, spent the last few hours grabbing these
and 2) YES, my graphics suck. I'm almost ashamed to post these here seeing all the eye candy in you guy's screenies. My graphics are the bare minimum for this game, and I have to fly in the MA with all detail off and still a FR of normally around 10-12...... so don't laugh at the lack of "pretty" in these screen shots.....
But here goes!
Been flying the 109G14 with JG27, and I must say I've never flown the 109 regularly, in just about any flavor, until BoG. But my oh my, that G14 is a nice bird! :D
Bravo Pony thought he'd try to help his buddy.... NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!

Well now we are in a bit of trouble, because we've found ourselves surrounded by these new P-51Ds...... appparently they're bulletproof, because both of these ponies lived to RTB.........

Well now we are in a bit of trouble, because we've found ourselves surrounded by these new P-51Ds...... appparently they're bulletproof, because both of these ponies lived to RTB.........

But then there's another P-47.... ah, I like those! I can KILL 'EM!
That's a good place to shoot them.... in the cockpit!

nothing really smile-worthy about any of that ken
-
The first one is good because it is generally quite hard to herd the cats, I mean pilots, in group to get them in a semblance of formation prior to takeoff (as opposed to 5 of them sitting there overlapping each others' planes at the spawn-in point). :)
The second pic is just plain nice. Good composition, guns blazing -- very nice. :aok
-
I don't know, all u have to do is tell everyone to take off in the same direction and the second is a head on shot, which is just lazy. A real Luftwaffe pilot would have found a way around that jugs 12 o'clock.
-
DerJude from a screenshot perspective the second shot does look quite good.
I thought it also spoke of the action that a lot have experienced in this scenario.
As for ACM....we all know what a HO is :D

Just for the record, and not defending anything here, the jug attacked me from my low 12 at a high rate of speed.
lethrnek called a Check 6 on me and I saw him 400 out 50 degrees low on my nose. I reacted last minute, rolled and fired. To me, and I understand beauty is in the eye of the beholder but....it was a nice shot. The smiley you eluded to was the wry grin (mine) because I survived...and also because "I" might be the only person to "like" the shot. It's obvious that you did not. I do not recall seeing any of yours so I assume your expertise comes from years of experience. Please feel free to share some.
I have a number of collections. Frame 5 http://www.kkenshome.com/BoGFrame5/
The link has a Slideshow that has some narative on each pic displayed. It may briefly indicate an action at that time. DERJude, You may not want to look, since the pic I posted I thought was the best! :D :D :D
-
Wow,
Everything OK Der Jude?
A real Luftwaffe pilot? I have had P-47's make head on attacks on me during every frame so far. I guess some of them figure with 8 .50 cal guns they have a good chance on winning that encounter. In a big furball there are going to be HO's as every one is swirling around trying to get a good guns angle. Nothing you can do but try to make it a hard shot, or point your cannons in their face and hope you are a better shot. Frame 5 I tried to avoid the HO and paid the price with a Pilot wound and Radiator hit engine hit and had to run for an air field right away.
As a picture, I think it is awesome. and KKen does a good job on his slide shows.
See you all tonight!

Some JUGS take much more to get around on then others ;)

LOL someone woke up on the wrong side of the 109 cockpit today. With that logic, the real LW pilot ran to ack the one time I ran into him in the Scenario a couple frames back :) Considering "living and dying" matter in a scenario, it made sense as he was dead otherwise. yeah it was you.
Funny how many 109s tried to tater me in the face in those frames I got to fly too, Again considering "living and dying" does matter in a scenario, I saw nothing wrong with it, other then in a 51B with 4 50s it wasn't in my favor to go nose to nose and shoot back, so I ducked a lot :aok
So lighten up Francis. Did you have fun? :)
-
frame 5 pics much more interesting Ken
-
Great pics, K-KEN. :salute
Thanks HB555 :)
That last one's great.
Thank you! I hope you will take time to click all the links I posted. Close to 150 screenies, I imagine! :)
no pics of you killing me KKEN? :( i would have loved to have seen that <S>
BAR, I can as soon as I finish looking at Frame 6. I took a long play back and got a few ideas. It was a nice clean k-kill, in a way! Caught you in a left turn, as I recall, and removed a wing! Had several folks that wouldn't die there! Great action and fight! :salute
Great Pic, K-KEN. Love the one with the 190 coming onto the B-17s, 11-12 high.
Thanks oakranger. The 6 links-slideshows have a few good images as well, if you have a desire!

Your Event pages are awesome. Did you do the Coordination frame? Didn't see a link. :)
I know your time is really limited so I won't push it! :aok :D
I'm having trouble finding time to start the Frame 6 slideshow, right now, for my site. :frown:
I seem to be sleeping less, working more...and I only work 1 day a week! :o :( No excuse!
-
Thank you, KKEN.
I didn't do a pictorial for the coord. frame.
Your pictorials are excellent as well. I really enjoy them. You compose some wonderful shots.

Here are a few stills from my film of Frame Six.
Stampf led III./JG11 in a head-on attack against the B-24's hitting Berlin. I lined up on a bomber and though I raked him from nose to tail, he kept flying:
Maintaining our speed, we swung around in a broad right turn to the North - dodging and weaving through literally dozens of escorting P-51s! - and came back up behind the bombers' left flank for another pass. These two did not get home again:
Stampf lost a wingtip to the bombers' defensive guns. With a shallow dive, I was just able to stay out in front of the Mustangs spraying lead at me, and then I came around for one last head-on attack against the bombers, who were beginning their left turn, toward home. Attacking from low on a bomber's nose, I raked him...
...and as I passed, his port wing fuel tank erupted in flames:

I have completed my BoG web page AND my BoG Frame 6 slideshow. I made a call on the background for the webpage based on what "fits" since some of the navigation tools are transparent it's hard to get it all to work right! :) I really need to upgrade the whole site! :rofl Backgrounds tile with larger monitors. Rather than load up the page with images, I will post a link to the website and the Slideshow.
JG26 led by Vasco and Ditto was my group. A great bunch of folks. My hats off to the many that attended. Especially thanks to Leitwolf and Vasco for hanging in there with all their dumps.
