Title: Firefly
Post by: dirt911 on February 09, 2011, 07:54:55 PM
I still belive its time to drop the price on it, however does anyone know if it has gyros or not? :headscratch:

Still waiting on my 9-12 perked Firefly to. :pray

I dont think it did have gyros.  The firefly basically was the 17lb anti tank gun turned on its side so it would fit into the turret.  With the limited space I dont think it was gyro stablized.  But I will research some more to confirm or deny.

Panther needs to be perked less IMO

I disagree. It's not getting close to the Tiger's K/D without a reason ...

Well seeing as there were about 6000 made it is a little high on the perk price.
Just my opinion.

And the firefly has been completley dscouraged at this point, M4 75 has better armour.
Its gun doesn't perform the way it should.
Its just a big perk pit now.

not about how many were made, its about how successfull it is compaired to other GV's in AH

Ok, well then why is it when I get in it and shoot an M4 76 at 2500 it takes 3 and 4 hits to kill it? (In Panther)

And this is a FIREFLY post not a Panther post I said it before.
"With the panther coming we need a cheap and effective combatant"
And the tank to answer that call is (Spins the wheel) FIREFLY!!!!!!!   :x :x :x :x :x :O :) But problem is its gun is not correctly modeled (I believe according to pyro on another forum post about this very topic) not to mention that it has armour worse than an aluminum can, it also aint to cheap no more.

I am not disagreeing with you about making the firefly cheaper, I am saying that the panther should stay the same price

Huh?  So this is how these references to apocryphal posts get started.  That must have been in the thread where I stated we would never do a B-29.   Nevermind the fact that it had been listed in the help system as an example of a perk plane since the perk system was first implemented.  :noid

Im fine with Panther, I think if it was to get dropped I would say a -2 or -3 perks but no more, maybe less just have to play with these perk prices to get them manipulated the way they need to be.

Just like the Firefly price has been played with enough now we can decide what price is best and I say on a high would be 12-13. On a low base 9-12 maybe a 10 base perk price.

I think it should be the same as fire fly, only because fire fly has better gun, but panther has tougher armor

Ok my mistake you didn't say THAT but it was on a post about the same as this one:

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,301670.0.html

It was stated that the gun was not as lethal as it should be.
And that it was not doing the damage that it should be doing upon a penetration.

But Firefly does need a lower price. Panther is just fine like I said, "if it were to be lowered only by 3 or less".

There is no "but"
The only thing Pyro ever said in that thread "It's APBC". He never made any comment on the gun's performance.

And when he said that what did we learn from it?

That the gun should be more or less lethal?

I finally took the Panther out for a good spin the other day.  It earns it's perk price.  Brutal long range gun with some serious armor.  I think you may see it go up instead of down if I was to predict. :aok

It is a smooth bore gun, it's good, frontal armor is good but I think it needs to drop...mYbe thats my lack of skill in a tank

I have always been a Firefly fan(3 years or so), but for long range sniping and defensive operations the Panther & Tiger flat out rule.  The Panther does have one factor that sucks and that is the lack of rotation and angle on the top turret machine gun.  Bleck.....

Remember when the Firefly was 1 and all you saw was fireflys?

There is a method to the ENY madness.

I would lump this in with the veiled "I want a Mustang with 20mm" wish.

You don't want to pay the price. Don't up the gv. Simple as that.

:rofl :rofl It was 7 and thats not all we saw. Saw more panzers than anything else im not asking for it to be 7 again just lower than what it is now like a base price of 10 or so.

Don't forget that we learned ITS NOT PERFORMING THE WAY IT SHOULD, due to the ammuntion is inccorectly modeled.
Charts and test can prove this, I'll do some tests I don't mind just need to come up with a recruit here somewhere to assist me.

And wtf how did we get way off over here weren't we talking about perk price or gyros on the firefly?

The Panther's Rhinemettel Borsig 75L70 Kwk42 gun is a rifled gun. The only smoothbore weapons back then were things that fired fin stabilized ammo like mortars, bazooka and panzerschrek. Smoothbore tank cannon didn't become the norm until the 1970's.

I thought all tank guns were rifled barrels?

Wow, was I wrong.
