Not illegal to drink in your own house. Unless it wasn't IN his house. Still don't know why you would brag about it lol.

do us a favor..dont drive.

The immature thing to have said was "OH MAN I GOT AHOLD OF THE VODKA AND GOT WASTED! AND THE BEST PART I KILLED INNOCENT PEOPLE ON THE ROAD, I THINK ONE OF THEM WAS A PREGNANT LADY!
Very immature way to put it, but i've seen stuff like that on fb, and of course i'm in my house, and i wasn't planning on driving anywhere today.
-
how old are you?
I first got drunk when I was 11, on stolen gin.
-
Not illegal to drink in your own house.
I believe that depends on the state you live in. Regardless of the law, I believe it's better for the parent to expose the alcohol in a safe way so the temptation to party it up in High School and College is reduced.

Well it tasted like crap, and beer is no better. SO i'm honestly not tempted to drink again. Blah 2 hours ago and my stomach hurts like hell.

Quote from the Oregon Law books
Oregon law prohibits anyone, except a parent or legal guardian,
from providing alcohol to a minor or juvenile. A minor is any
person under the age of 21 and a juvenile is any person under
the age of 18. Parents or guardians may legally provide alcohol to
their minor child or ward and only in a private residence when
accompanying their minor child. A parent cannot transfer this
responsibility to another adult or provide alcohol in a public place. If
you allow your property and/or home to be used for a party where
minors, other than your minor child(ren), consume alcohol in your
presence, you may have to forfeit property and may be issued a
criminal citation.

:lol schlitz malt liquor at 11...vodka at 13...whiskey and tequila at 15...ah the good ole days.
can't stand gin...once took a big drink of tanqueray thinking it was vodka...wasted a perfectly good steak dinner.
it's too bad parents aren't allowed to actually parent their children responsibly these days...pretty soon we won't be allowed to send our kids outside to play without a legal permit to do so.

Well this is Georgia, but i'm not so familiar with drinking laws inside house holds with parents or guardians permission. I honestly have no idea

I actually had a doctor's prescription to drink a beer a day when I was a kid, due to being way underweight. Anyone who looks at me now can tell the cure worked really well :)
In my family my parent's attitude was basically "You know where the liquor is if you want to get stupid" in that it was never presented to me as being part of "being a man" to drink. I drank socially in the USAF, but never did develop a taste for it. I might drink a very small amount once or twice a year.

errr, maybe not your case...

I believe that depends on the state you live in. Regardless of the law, I believe it's better for the parent to expose the alcohol in a safe way so the temptation to party it up in High School and College is reduced.
When I was a senior in high school my town enacted an ordinance which tried to cut down on teen drinking by enforcing an automatic fine on the drinker and substantial fines on the owner of the property they were drinking on.
That year's party after Jr. Prom was held at a parent's house. The parents were home because they wanted to supervise, and they insisted that anyone who wanted to drink would have to sleep over. We all had to put our keys in a basket.
The police raided the house, found the key basket, and traded citations for keys. They ended up handing out over 100. The parents, who had the fortitude to attempt to house and supervise 100+ drunken high schoolers received massive fines and criminal charges.
Now you might be saying, "well, the law's the law. They got what was coming to them." I can't really argue that. What I can do is point out the consequences:
1. Teens continued to drink (as they will always do);
2. Parents refused to supervise any more of this drinking;
3. Teens refused to put keys in a basket.
So, the results of the ordinance were completely unsupervised teen drinking and increased drunk driving.... Kinda a phyrric victory for the cops and town council if you ask me...

thus the reason it's been available to Squid for some time now. He's tried it, there's no mystery, and he has no desire to drink again at this time. *shrug* that may change but when I was his age... I'll leave the rest to your imaginations.

dont worry the taste goes away after the second or 3rd drink, soon youll be walking around ur house swinging a nasty bottle of taaka around in one hand and trying to figure out why your unplugged joystick wont work on your tv :D

Always been a fan of rum and beer, then my folks turned me onto Sake when I was 15. Can't stand grape wine but sake is a different story.

Vodka and grapefruit juice or Vodka and pink lemonade is about all I drink when it comes to vodka (sometimes straight--Grey Goose, Pinnacle, or Skol)
I hate beer, but if I have to choose I'll take Michelob Ultra.
My favorite drink is jager. I'll drink it straight or mixed (but not with red bull...I HATE jager bombs)
-
Don't drink, then post or drunk dial. Trust me on this. :)
I remember in Colorado, a parent could buy their children drinks in public. I was maybe 14?

Quoted for truth! Gin is horrible stuff.
I am just surprised that anyone could have lasted this long to get drunk first time. That's why I asked his age out of curiosity.

ya, that was back in the 60s through mid 70s...used to go with my dad to the nco club at ft. carson and the local vfw...as long as the kid wasn't running rampant and urinating in the plastic plants it was ok...then about what, 76-77(?) they changed the law so you had to be 18 or over to have even 3.2 beer with your parent...would have sucked if i couldn't buy liquor on my own at the store a buddy worked in. :devil
-
heh...
I was buying beer at 16 and I KNOW I didn't look 18 then. Managed to just get by the TX law raising it from 18 to 19 then from 19 to 21.
REALLY glad I'm not as stupid now as I was then. I'm lucky I'm not dead or in prison.

fairly certain anyone who grew up in the 60s and 70s is very lucky in that regard sir...
-
last time i checked (correct me if im wrong here) but in the Great state of Texas its legal to drink as long as you parents give it to you and your within a certain distance from them like an arms length or something like that.

*Underage consumption of alcohol is allowed if it is in the visible presence of the minor's adult parent, guardian or spouse.

I think everyone drinks Tequila ONCE.

Tequila, Rumpleminze, Tanqueray, Pabst Blue Ribbon and the occasional Puerto Rican Hooker (The drink). :aok

Tequila was the first alcohol I had ever consumed. It doesn't bother me much, but I rarely drink it due to the fact no one else around here drinks it.
-
I quit drinking about 16 years ago....you know that old saying "instant A-hole just add alcohol" ya that was me
but as far as the OP goes I would much rather see him do it that way then out and about with a bunch of "friends"

Same goes for my kids.
Since I make beer by the 10-15 gallon batch (6-8 cases at a time), it's not really a big deal or mystery to them.

This reminds me of a funny first time. Down here people sometimes do a homemade fermented drink for labour day. If done correctly it should produce a fresh carbonated drink containing 0.5 - 1% alcohol. However add a little too much sugar and let it sit in the bottle it really becomes like beer (in strength) or even stronger.
So, one day my cousins parents are away from home and the little sister of the mother is taking care of the kids. Suddenly it seems my cousin is acting completely drunk. Everyone thought he was just playing but in reality he had found leftover bottles of this festive drink and emptied a large bottle of it :D He was around 10 years old so naturally everyone got really worried. I don't recall if they took him for stomach flush or not.
-
speaking of "making beer" ive made some "hooch"....man I got so smashed off of that stuff :rofl

Doesn't anyone drink Tequila anymore?
Why yes yes I do. :) (http://www.lilworkshop.com/web_images/cazadores.jpg) Eventually I'll turn this empty into one of these. (http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt98/Flayed1/th_greygooselamp.jpg) (http://s601.photobucket.com/albums/tt98/Flayed1/?action=view¤t=greygooselamp.jpg)
As far as the broader subject I give the lil Flayed and Flayedets a taste of what ever I may be drinking at the time. (Going to have to watch Flayed Jr. an my Tequila I think. ;) ) And I would much rather have them here at home with me when the time comes that they feel they wanna see what it's like to be drunk then out with some friends hiding out somewhere and I hope they always feel comfortable enough here with me to experiment at home.
<S> all and happy drinking.

Doesn't anyone drink Tequila anymore?
I was big into tequila (margaritas) until the agave plant blight of 2000. Prices on anything decent went sky-high. Even the stuff that tasted like crap went way up. The "good stuff" almost doubled in price. The blight is technically over but it takes a long time for something in a plant like that to recover--PLUS--the farmers, buyers, distillers/bottlers seem to be in NO hurry to lower the price.
-
He he. :devil
I just mentioned that because it is my wife's favorite and it is funny to see peoples faces when someone orders a round of shots.
She do it without the training wheels and ask for another :aok

Nope, not true. In Texas, your parents can buy you a drink, at a bar, no matter what your age is. Some bars will not allow it as they have thier own criteria, but it is perfectly legal to do so.
The drinking laws are set by the states.

The only thing the Fed does is regulate how the folks that make the beer/wine/spirits distribute it and they also collect tax on it.

This ^ my pops was gonna take me to bar or strip club a few months before I was 21 kinda on a whim type thing. Tough luck finding a place that would serve alcohol to a minor even with a parent present.
-
Oh I never said you could find them easy. I only know a few places that will serve to minors with thier parents there.
I was just taking issue with the blanket statement about alcohol being illegal to serve to minors in all the states.

I first got drunk when I was 11, on stolen gin.
I was 14, but it was unintentional. Working at a roadside farm stand picking crops on a hot summer day...found a jug of ice cold cider in the cooler and started chugging it. It even had a "sparkling" taste to it. Obviously was hard cider...15 minutes later I'm laid out in the shade with some wicked spinzies. :ahand
-
I stole it from my mum, who at the time was a raging alcoholic (now recovering for 10 years).
I thought I was very big and clever untill the next morning when I felt like my head was imploding.
Never drank Gin again. :rofl

There is soon to be a shortage of tequila soon, because the folks that grew the agave for it decided to grow corn instead, and it takes the plant at least a decade to mature.

My first drink was at my sisters wedding. I was in the wedding party and sat at the head table which had glasses of Champain already poured and sitting on it.
I was only in 6th grade (12 years old) and they forgot to remove it from my setting. I was on the end next to my sister's and brother in law's partying type friends, so i think they forgot it on purpose. after one sip of it, and i was done with it. Then they poured it into my coke when i left the table and i came back and drank the rest of it lol. Needless to say, i was a little toasted from it.
I think though, i had a few sips of a beer when i was like 6 before i had it taken off me. I had gotten it out of my dads fridge in the garage and thought it was a coke.
18 now and havent had the urge to drink and i was practically raised in a bar. Dont like the taste of Jim Beam or Crown Royal (thats what my dad and brother drinks) or beer. I have tried some sissy wine coolers and mikes hard lemonade and liked them though. want to try vodka and some others eventually, but im in no hurry.

I drank at my sisters b/f's house when I was 14..half a bottle of tequila and smoked off a you know what for the first time...
I remember laying in a waterbed listening to jay-z big pimpin and filling a bucket with puke while riding the waves.
Didn't drink again till I was 19 at my brothers apartment in college...couple girls were making fun of me because I wouldn't drink with them. So I began drinking natty and chasing it with a cookie.
I enjoy beer now but it was definitely an acquired taste lol.
