Title: An announcement to all car salesmen
Post by: Dichotomy on July 16, 2011, 06:49:35 PM
July in Texas is hot.  Like 103 degrees hot.  Telling me that the car I specifically told you was not what I was looking for has heated seats is not a selling point.  Just saying.

that's pretty funny.

back in 83, when i bought my gl with a 5 liter in it.......the salesman kept trying to tell me i wanted an escort. i told him i didn't. he repeated, and refused to show me any mustangs.

i let loose with a flurry of stuff i can't type here, and left. it got worse when the tard chased after me to try to STILL convince me i wanted en escort.

Oh but haven't you heard the theory? Melting ice caps flood the ocean with fresh water, shutting down the North Atlantic Current (not entirely sure how), which would lower the temperature of the North atlantic by several degrees. Dis is serous chit  :noid.

In case you can't tell, I'm making fun of the people who freak out over climate change.

it's supposed to be warming, not getting colder. just ask gore if you dont believe me.

semp

nonono silly!! the warming effect melts the ice caps, which in turn brings cooler ocean temps, which in turn cools the atmosphere, thus warming is the cause of cooling. according to those making massive money off of it, because they're very good at convincing stupid people of it.  :noid :bolt:

Thank you CAP1, and semp, you may wish to change your sig  :ahand.

And Masherbrum, the people making those statments are making money because of it. Take what they say with a grain of salt the size of Rhode Island. Not to say climate change isn't real, but I (personally) don't think its as bad as all that. Bear in mind that around the turn of the 19th century we were in the middle of ice age (sort of).

FYI the Golf stream is moving billions of gallons of warm water north constantly. This has a warming effect on the climate. Finland is at the same level as Alaska and we enjoy much more pleasant climate here due to the Golf stream. Our climate is also very volatile for the very same fact, wind shifts and it can drop 10-20 degrees c.

The Golf stream is partly initiated by the slowly melting polar caps. The cold water from the ice sinks in the bottom and creates a cold stream that flows to the equator. When the water warms up it rises closer to the suraface and migrates back north, causing the stream effect.

If the polar ice melts completely, there will no longer be a stream to keep us (and northern US) warm, causing a severe drop in temperature.

you know as well as the rest of us, it's not gonna melt totally. while it's melting in one general area, it's freezing in another.

My ex-wife needed a new car several years ago.  I told her to hit all of the car dealers in the area and just test drive everything that is out there so she can get an idea of what she likes and doesn't like.  She had only driven about three different cars in her life so I figured this would give her some idea, then she could tell me what she likes and being a mechanic, I can give her an idea of whether or not that is a good one to buy.

Anyway, she hit a Suzuki dealer (I know, I know) as she liked how the Verona looks and she was intrigued by their ten year warranty.  Being a woman most of the salesmen attacked her like a hawk and none of them would let her test drive them by herself.  Anyway she pulls off the lot with the Verona and the salesman was explaining all of the 'features' about it and all that.  Then he proceeded to tell her a story:

"A couple of weeks ago I drove this home as a demo.  My roommate and I decided to go grab a bite to eat so we left and was walking up to the car and my roommate said 'DUDE!  WHERE DID YOU GET THE BENTLEY!' and I had to show him that it was a Suzuki and not a Bentley"

My ex- made a quick U-turn in the middle of a busy street, pulled up to the dealer parking lot, got out and said "This is definitely *NOT* a Bentley" then got in her car and left.

My GPS says i'm 950 feet above sea level, I think i'm good  :rofl

People think that they can prevent this, when the reality is its a natural process, we might aid it just a tiny bit but global warming/climate change has been going on since the earth has had gases on it.

Don't beaches loose alt over time? I would think the ocean would drag sand out into the ocean, or put out more and have it rise  :headscratch:

tide goes out, beach erodes. tide comes in, beach un-erodes.

there have been some erosion problems, as all beaches have. nothing like the beach is sinking though. i remember when i was a kid....my grandparents would take us to atlantic city....back before the casinos turned it into "ghetto by the sea".
when the tid would come in, it nearly came all the way up to the boardwalk. it doesn't come that far anymore.

so much for ocean levels rising.  :aok

they did about 2 years ago, when i flew my friend and his wife there. was a fun runway there....constant crosswind, only 2200ft long, and 60ft wide.

Looking back I just answered my question, don't underestimate me, in 6th grade I knew more about science and the natural world then alot of 8th graders and my teacher at times. Now i'm just a B average finishing with a 97 in world history, and 89 in physical science, but Sometimes I don't use my brain anymore and thats what puts me behind.

No sir, I don;t underestimate you.  I was commending you on your vast experience, knowledge, and research on our planets climate.  But more importantly, on your focus on that subject and ignoring the easy stuff.  You cannot be an expert unless you have focus.  I also want to apologize.  I had no idea you knew more than 8th graders. :salute

OK, now I am being serious.  My advice (and it may be worth nothing) is to always touch when they say hot.  Carefully or with a glove, but always touch.  Don't go through life taking peoples word for anything.  Find out for yourself and see how hot "hot" is to you.  Trust, but always verify.

Any advice that isn't bs is worth something, lol who knew being a teenager could be so hard  :lol but to be serious i'm always testing, most of the time i'll follow orders (or what people tell me to or to not do) but something silly like a hot plate doesn't strike me as being dangerous to touch, as long as I don't grab it lol but I understand what your saying

I think you missed the point.  I am not saying not to listen or not to do what you are told.  And touching a hot plate now that you know it is hot is just stupid.  :lol  I am just saying, test things yourself also.  What is hot for me maybe cool for you  :old:
