Title: If your FPH was a Pro sports god...
Post by: Changeup on July 17, 2011, 04:24:49 PM
You all know who you fly with and against.  If AH pilets were professional athletes, what sport and position would they play.  Here's mine:

JUGgler - Hockey Goalie, strangely aggressive, steals angles, unbelievably focused, will come after you if you look at him cross-eyed, hardest job on the ice and calls you out when you get "empty netters" (vulching)

FlyinFin - NFL placekicker

Dodger - NFL Free Safety, hits hard, skill position, steal your lunch money if you aren't paying attention, takes perfect angles to the ball, knows the entire playing field

INK - MLB Centerfielder, good angles to the ball, rarely makes errors, strong throwing arm, bats for power and average

Let um fly gents!

Geez...try not to have TOO much fun with this, lmao.   OK....I'll continue:

Grizz - NFL Middle Linebacker, flows to the ball well, sees the play develop in real time, hits with entire body, unbelievable sense of where the ball is going and takes great lines of attack, swarms the ball, fearless, owns the shallow secondary with authority, punishing hitter, unforgiving playmaker

Sabreone - NHL Left Wing, passes the puck with great accuracy, excellent speed to the net and has no hesitation crashing it, gritty, smart player who completely understands the game, unselfish player, fearless

Rodent57 - MLB Pitcher live arm, has 4 solid pitches, pounds the strike zone but remains deceptive, understands keeping batters off-balance and has the pitch selection to pull it off, solid on defense from the mound with clear understanding of the game, will help you understand the inside part of the plate

Corky, Jr - NBA Center - Superb defense, crashes boards with absolute authority, excellent positioning down-low, plays best defense man to man, not a ball-hog, winner all the way

DrBone - NFL Running Back - Sees holes before they open and patience to the let the play develop, superb mobility in the shallow secondary with excellent decision making, breaking into the secondary he has another gear but runs with his HEAD UP, one on one moves makes almost any defender miss, can't be arm tackled

Silat - NFL Cheerleader, 15 years experience, oldest NFL Cheerleader, made squad for 6 different teams (league record), Squad awards won:  Highest heels at afterparty, Tallest female cheerleader, Miss Congeniality (Cowboys and Raiders), Wears Mauve Best, Biggest Feet (every squad)

KoW - NFL Receiver, perfect routes, always where he is supposed to be, playmaker in the open field with a second gear, just get the ball near him, short routes he allows the play to develop in front of him

pervert - NHL Defenseman, punishing in the zone, great puck movement, forecheck is unrivaled, leads league in penalty mins, swarms puck, highest scoring defenseman (selfish with the puck on power plays)

999000 - NFL NoseGuard, immovable, extremely mobile, can control the line of scrimmage alone, best use of leverage for defensive lineman in the league, gets upfield very quickly and delivers solid blows,  highest # of QB pressures

Generic vTard - That punter trying to be a running back on 4th and 21. The situation has the potential to just get plain ugly when he runs with the ball.

Delirium - The Bobby Fischer of AH, finds the opening and sticks ya because he's 40 permutations ahead of you.

Shawk - Lebron James.  He's got game but seems to have difficulty keeping the same fans.

FlyinFin - John McEnroe: He might have a good volley here and there but after he misses expect a rant!

Chanzz -  NFL Defensive Lineman.  Powerful moves but prone to going offsides (and complaining he should have gotten his 1v1 anyway).

USNA4J - NFL Offensive Lineman. Underrated effect on the front. Powerful blocker downfield, sound strategic judgment puts him over the right base at the right time in a set of buffs.

Jayro - NFL QB.  Consistently moves his team downfield despite limited playing time.

Waystin - PGA commentator, never gets loud, never gets rattled, knows just what to say a la Bob Costas.

Sure we're supposed to keep it to athletes but Bob Costas is the next best thing to a pro athlete right?

BAR321- NFL fullback. Not the fastest runner, but will blast through any hole, no matter the opposition. On rare occasions where he does break free of the line, he can still high-tail it away from the area, with quickness and mobility.

Bruv119- NFL corner. Has great vision, can and will track you down from anywhere. If you know what you are doing you may be able to shake him from you, but make one mistake and he will take you down hard.

Floatsup- MLB infield backup. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Waystin2- I agree with whoever said Bob Costas

Delirium- Tom Hanks in "a league of their own". Well... he has silat and friends to watch over. Sometimes I feel sorry for him :D

Ok...who's up?  Thats right..

BAR321 - NFL Defensive End, very aggressive but agile, uses his speed to get around the corner, gets upfield very quickly, excellent pass rusher, stays home when necessary, moves on the snap as well as any end in the league.  Bigtime hitter, good teammate

ASSI - NBA Power Forward, great athleticism, crashes the boards like a center, quick hands and excellent decisions, a little selfish with the ball but hits 45% from 3-point bomb land, all around player, as effective on defense as offense, maneuvers extraodinarily well in the open court, passes omnipotently, speed of a guard when he has the ball on the ground

DMGOD - MLB Shortstop, unbelievable range, great hand quickness, leads league in fewest errors, game IQ is as good as can be found, profound arm strength and deadly accurate from deep short, as capable at 3B or 2B so versatility is clear, plays aggressively which could lead to errors but plays within himself, champion smack talker while in the box, 4 tool player, needs to hit for power to round out his hitting skills

RUDBOI - NHL Center, Great speed and athleticism, excellent skater both ways, defensive center but better up ice, solid forechecker, passes the puck well, sees the ice better than most, good level of aggression but could be improved, slap shot is remarkably accurate from 40 feet, zero problem crashing the net, excellent teammate

POTSNPANS - NFL Corner, freakishly excellent in cover 1, 2, and 3, hits hard enough to deep cover in a 4 package, safety blitzes were designed with his style of play in mind, great run cover on the edge, beaten deep only twice this season, All Pro 3 years running, covers like a blanket in the flats, punishing hitter, only real expert in the 2-0-5 defense

GHI - Pro Boxer, bantamweight championship contender, most deceptive when inside, excruciating knockout uppercut, unrivaled patience: has no problem letting his opponent be the aggressor, makes up for slower hand speed with solid punches, uses the entire ring, needs to stay out of corners more, needs to get quicker outside

Kappa - NFL QB, excellent agility, excellent vision down field, reads defenses aggressively and uses audibles with max effectiveness, surgical accuracy, deep threat on every play, completely unselfish, good speed and evasiveness in the backfield, intagibles are leadership and clubhouse presence, zero problem carrying the ball, takes hits by delivering them

Lepape2 - NFL Wide Receiver, Playmaker, unbelievable moves in open field, deceptive runner after the catch, can be arm tackled, superb routes, dependable and unselfish player, deep threat regularly, will beat you with route technique or with moves, loves slant passes for open field opportunities, rarely drops balls.

Read it and weep gents.... :salute

nice write ups Change!  is this what you do for a living?

I wish! Lol.

When I fly with/against folks, their style of fighting/communicating/planes they choose etc remind me of athletes I've watched, played with or played against.  For instance I'll pick on Grizz for a moment.  He probably doesnt "feel" like he flies like a MLB...but to me, he does.  The worst hits i ever taken in my life were from linebackers.  I was lucky enough to play football against Billy Goldberg (Tulsa Edison, UGA, Atlanta Falcons, World Wrestling Federation, lmao) and Tony Casillas (Tulsa East Central, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys) and they hurt you bad.  The way Grizz hits me from blind spots or maybe I wasn't looking or whatever just feels like that same kind of hit...very violent, aggressive and it's over quickly...no pings of bullets...just "lights out".  He has beat me with finesse, speed, angles, out in the open, in a furball, 1 v 1...to me, those are hallmark characteristics of a Middle Linebacker.

We've all played a sport sometime in our life so i thought folks would be familiar with the terms and have some fun with it.  I had never heard you on VOX until the other night when JUGgler set the fight up with Oddcaf, hence QB... :salute

Hehehe...not true (you were the first person to give me a real hand in learning how to fight...you probably don't remember as it was at least three years ago...remember?...getting me ready for Batfink??)  I cant count the number of times you've taped my head to the carpet in this game!!! Lmao!!

Changeup

I don't know about the taping your head to the carpet part but I do remember the DA time.  We were in C202's weren't we?  I was just having fun, I'm really a mean selfish person who likes to tell alt-F4 jokes.   :D

You got it!  2 hours of C202....and the best lesson in character.  I had made a better initial merge cold and gotten just a tiny tiny angle better than what would characterized as a HO (it actually may have been), took the shot and on VOX you said, "ummmm...not good stuff".  I then beat you to death with the rules BaldEagl put up regarding  anything goes after the Imerge.  And then you said something that I remember everytime I fly...."yes, that's true I guess but you'll never be respected by good sticks by taking that shot.  Make your moves and win straight-up and there will be no doubt about who won".  It probably wasn't exactly that but I didn't miss it by more than three words.

Good advice sticks with ya in this game....thanks.

Changeup

Ps- boarded flight home right now....I'm 6-2 230....the largest human in the world just sat next to me. My luck

You are tarnishing my image.  I'm gonna get booted from the Muppets and Corky is gonna recruit me to be an altar boy.   :D

I remember that Zoom, that was fun.  Teeheee   :D :D

Mine contains both Fighter Pilot heroes and Forum Poet heroes

Bustr: Announcer a la John Madden.  Not as great a legend for his play as he is for his chatter.  Uses a lot of words to make an easy point seem complex, or misses making a point altogether.  Generally liked.

vDallas: Roller derby lead jammer.  Needs everyone around him to clear the way for scores, but does most of the trash talk while hiding behind the bigger ladies.

Skyrock: Brett Farve/OJ.  Great player.  Good rep with just a few hiccups.  Bad ending.

(http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp193/dmbear/brett-favre-frowning.jpg) (http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp193/dmbear/ojglove.jpg)

Fugitive:  Bball Coach drawing a last second inbounds play for MJ a la Phil Jackson.  It really doesn't matter what ability he has to draw, you know it will work with the subjects he has.

DMGOD: Overratted QB.  He's good and will help his team at times, but sometimes even his own team enjoys seeing him suffer.

AckAck: A bad 3rd base coach.  Waves people in just so he can enjoy seeing them get thrown out at home.

Walleye:  Stadium Beer man.

Crazyivn: Al Davis type owner.  Can't draft worth anything in FF.

Skuzzy: Tim Donaghy

Changeup: Hit batsman charging Nolan Ryan a la Robin Ventura.  He knows it's wrong, but still does stuff that might not be in his best interest...ie going to OU instead of LSU.

Nice write ups, Changeup...  :aok

Bear this in mind... as the "professionals" get older (as in, old, blind and reflexes died yesterday) they often turn to golf, thinking they'll be great at it.  They usually aren't, although having inherent talent allows a smoother transition to "does okay."  And they do enjoy a following of dingleberries to remind them how great they were.  :noid

ASSI: Tony Romo, Hired to play QB, but always found doing something else. Also loves ruining people's Fantasy football teams.
