More needed than the damn Yak-3. Its almost identicle in preformance to the Yak-9, which I think most don't understand.

It will have the same limitations as far as weapons and ammo, but you'll just trade in a bit of top end speed for a bit of climb rate and maybe a bit tighter turn. Thats it, it won't really offer anything else over the Yak-9, and not much of those two benefits either.

So does a Spitfire, yet we have a yak-9.

2 comes before 3.

So we need the (Pe-/Tu-/SB-)2 before we get a (MiG-/LaGG-/Yak-)3...

It's linear that way!

Yeah, but this is like asking for the Spitfire mk.9 LF, which would be identicle (and I mean IDENTICLE) to the sptifire Mk 16.

Quite frankly, theres no way you can twist it to make the Yak-3 more of a priority than any tank I just listed without one HELL of a lot of scotch.

Anywho...... no, I don't know anything about alcohol, since its illegal for a 17yo to be drinking   . That being said.....  nevermind, not gonna say it.

The Spitfire you mentioned are literally one airplane, Yak 3 & 9 are different.

Yak-3 is ~500lb lighter, it has 400hp less, it's range is half Yak-9's, and it's ~20kts slower. Don't know about you but I think those are pretty significant differences.

Regarding the scotch. A whole bunch of kids that are too young to drink are arguing who knows more about alcohol, in a thread that is asking for a Yak-3  :headscratch:.

Let's try to get back on topic.

difference: Im an adult who's atleast over 18, Im alot closer to the legal drinking age than you. and i don't even drink that much.

idc if your a redneck/hic/w.e you consider yourself, but 14 is way to young to be drinking any type of alcohol, let alone heavy alcohol.

Anyways, Anyone got a good link to read up on the yak 3? i know nothing about this A/C other than its russian. :salute

age-nothing to do with the legal limit, but in wisconsin, i did my research, and the parents/legal guardian can give their child any type of alcohol, and id like to know why you being closer to the legal limit had anything to do with you being more educated on it.

back on topic.

Yak-3. its a yak. and delicious. we need it.

Mach-fly, the less hp is saying basically the same thing as less speed.

Main differences:

Reduced top speed
increased climb (and possibly acceleration)
Reduced range (not usually an issue)

Like I said, you trade performance in one area for performance in another, but neither of the changes will really give it a big advantage or handicap in a fight, much like the Yak-9.

Personally, I think that the biggest difference might come in the form of handling characteristics. Might be a bit harsher than the Yak-9, might be more lenient, might be almost the same, I don't know.

But the fact remains that the yak-3 is in no way 'needed', or even very high on the priority list (based on potential uses) for MAs OR special events. However, or EW and MW GV setup is pathetic and lacking, respectivly.

How do you know that?
If you have the numbers somewhere please let me know what they are. If your saying that just because of the hp & weight than it might not be accurate, the shape of the wing will also be a factor.

jager... anything Russian is needed... and the yak 3's weight will be its major benefit. it would be everything the yak 9 is and also more maneuverable

Read the wiki article on it (yeah, I know, its wikipedia), and I've seen others talking about it.

I say possibly acceleration because of the aerodynamics, which I know nothing about.

No, it would be slower, have less range (although this is admitedly less of a handicap), but climb better, and be a bit more manuverable. You don't gain anything over the Yak-9 without also losing something.

Time to 5000m

Yak3 prototype (yak1m dooblyor )4.1mins
Yak3 production 4.5 mins

Yak9u prototype 4.1 mins
Yak9u production 5.1 mins

By comparison an La7 using WEP best fully laden climb to 5000m is approx 4.8 / 4.9 mins. The Yak3 like the La7 achieves this thru it's initial acceleration and low altitude performance. Where as the Yak9u. Will have better acceleration , climb and performance above 2500/3000m.

Is that a Yaj-3 with a VK-105 or VK-107 engine?  If it is the VK-107 engine it is irrelevant as they didn't get them during the war.

Vk105pf2

the Vk107 equipped Yak3 purportedly achieved 5000m in 3.9 minutes. (same source)

Hard alcohol diluted in heavy water = heavy alcohol.  Duh.  Iran?  Not secretly in the nuclear business, its in the distillery business.

Yak 3!  But I'll admit the only reason I voted for it was to get my Yak-9 a re-model.  Half the range of a Yak-9?  That's pretty f - ing bad, as I normally take 75% or 100% fuel in a Yak-9 right now.  Half the range would be very limiting.  I hope that's not accurate.

Edit for you can't say "f - i n g".

The Yak-3 had roughly 12% less range than the Yak-9U.  550km vs. 675km, respectively.  And, "Yes."  This is the 105 motor in the Yak-3 vs. the 107 motor in the Yak-9U.

To give a comparison, the La-7 had a range of 570km.  The Yak-3 could stay up roughly as long as our in-game La-7s.  Possibly longer, considering that the La-7 burns more fuel when WEP is engaged, under combat conditions.

Yak-3  +1

I don't mind if it has less range than the Yak-9.  I have no issue throttling back a bit to save fuel if using it for an extended sortie.  If I show up on your 6 you better believe I'll have ample fuel to finish what I start.  :lol

Me either.  Climb like a rocket and set throttle to max cruise.  Man......I'd really like to have this plane.

Honestly the best way to approach an aircraft with this kinda of fuel issue is to climb at least to 10k then throttle back, i'm getting more used to doing this in a C205 rather then "full speed ahead" approach like a P51D or such.

Granted the Yak doesn't suffer from a WEP issue, C205 has a nasty wep where 10 minutes can burn through fuel in no time.
