Title: Arena closing notice
Post by: earl1937 on February 05, 2012, 10:43:12 AM
:bhead I am relatively new to this great game, but I have noticed something that someone needs to pay attention to! When "skuzzy" or other Aces High officials give a notice for arena closing for updates or other improvements, we always get a 15 to 20 minute warning. This allows everyone to RTB with their kills or damage points and everything seems to be fair for everyone. BUT, when one country wins the war, we only get 4 minutes warning! Some how that doesn't seem fair to me as a lot of times I have seen people with a 6 or 8 minute RTB time and they lose their kills or damage points, because they don't have time to get to a "friendly" base.  Maybe there is a reason for the short notice, but can't for the love of me, figure out why the short time frame! I would love to hear the reasoning behind this, that which seems to be unfair to me. Anybody have an idea?

I'm not 100% sure but I think the stats are updated immediately. What ever kills players had at the moment of war win is allocated.

If you're in the air when the server resets, it is as if your flight never took place.

earl,

Then I can assume that you weren't here when the maps would immediately revert to whatever their original field ownership was.  So, still good of you to notice, but things have been far worse.  Me personally, even 4 minutes can seem like an eternity, especially for defenders who just had their base taken from beneath them and have nowhere to land.

If you're in flight when the arena resets after the map is won, your flight is counted as though you landed the flight successfully.

There is a clipboard map that tracks real time progress of the war and can show you clearly how close the war is to being won, where the fight is, and how imminent the arena reset will be.

Being new, sometimes people overlook the tools that are already in place for the players to manage their game.  Hope this helps.

From what I remember, the flight isn't recorded at all. It is as if it never happened.

This is what I remember as well.  I don't think AKAK is right.

Akak is wrong. I was rtb last month with a B29 and about ten million points when the host reset. Flight never happened according to the game.

I don't care about how many kills I can get or what my score is. I just like having fun. So what if one sortie is cut short by a war win, log back on and re-up and continue the fight.  :aok

I swear that the AH clock runs a little fast when counting down to Arena shut down. :headscratch:

 * Everyone should explore an older topic to coment on in these days of BBS turmoil.

The other day i was flying around my own base looking for enemy tanks and my base suddenly switched to other country and started firing at me because the other team won the war. It was quite silly.

Impossible as of a patch within the last year (roughly), when a war is won, the current status/ownership of bases is maintained.  Most likely explanation was the base you were defending was captured and also the map-winning base capture.

Not to be rude or degrading, but many would argue that death for ultimate failure is appropriate in some situations. :D

This is what I remember as well.  I don't think AKAK is right.

Tested this awhile back when I was still flying in the MW arena and my sortie was counted as "landed" with all my kills scored.  I believe this change was done a number of years ago after complaints of players loosing perks/kills/score when being booted by the host after a map reset.

I tested this as early as one year ago and the sortie never counted.

I'm not sure why it should matter if you get the kills or not.

The game is about fighting. When it is over on one map.... go to the next and fight.
