Haven't lost my connection in months, my internet has been nearly perfect, NEVER lose session due to "Changing your session from TCP to UDP" or whatever. I get in my 262 = 177 perks chasing a Moderator...? in 3 B-29's and I get my session changed & lose all my perkies. BS!! You wanna disco me, fine, you don't want it in lights I killed your Ubber Pilot fine...what a bunch of Crappola! Gimme my perks back & go screw with someone else. Yes & you & I both know when ya get disco'd the video save option is gone...mighty convenient. I work to hard for my perks. Go screw with someone who has 20,000 perks.. :furious Oh can ya tell I'm peaved... This is not professional behavior in any way. :bhead :ahand & I don't care who likes it!

Or your internet just had a hiccup and it happened to be when you were in a jet.

The video will be in your film viewer if film was rolling.

A few hours? Maybe easy for you but not so easy for most players.

No you think that, and I know that when that happens your film is in the film folder with the most recent file name/date stamp.
Nice super paranoid, conspiracy theory whine post over a disco though!

:huh
...Y'know, rather than serve up the giant heaping helping of scorn that this thread deserves, I'm going to instead suggest that you relax, take a few deep breaths, and just stare at your monitor and let Spikes' avatar work its magic.
Perks aren't hard to get, sometimes bad things happen on the internet, etc etc.
Wiley.

Actually it is, wing up with me sometime, pick your ride 20eny or higher - learn a few tricks about the plane to beat others and don't get picked, try to land if you can to maximize the perk amount.
-
Gives you a reason to work for more perks. :aok
-
:rofl priceless
-
How could a Mod disco you in the first place? Or change your session? Whatever that means.

They can't.
When you use a wireless Internet service, then you should be ready for the occasional disco. Bit errors in the data stream are not uncommon for wireless carriers. Aside from that, at any given moment of the day, something is broken on the Internet. You can bank on it. It is simply a matter of time before it hits you.

So I have to tag-team rope-a-dope with a wingman to rack up perks? Not interested, thank you. Already have an abundance of perks (without ever needing a wingman to hold my hand) but my point was that most people can't rack up 200 perks in something like a 109G6 or Yak-9T in a few hours. To beat late war rides with such ease requires better than average skill, which of course most people don't have.

That was probably me again. After all I'm known for that kind of BS :noid

Up a brewster, shoot down the nearest enemy La7/P51/Spixteen, rinse & repeat - 200 fighter perks within a few hours in the LWMA.

With average perk modifier of 1.0, to get 200 perks means having to get like 100-400 in a G6 kills, depending on how many of them you are actually able to land. It's WAY outside the ability of the utter majority of players to do that in a few hours.

Works that way only for an absolute top player, and with that I mean the top 5% or even less.

Where Butcher said that you have to tag team to kill spixteens?
Also... if you dont want to tag team or rope-a-dope, you will get far above average level very soon, ergo it wont be as hard to get a spixteen in a G6 or F4. Your reasoning is nonsense, Sir.
Even further... if it would be as easy to get a 262... imagine, lets say, vBAMBAM flying nothing but jets... Priceless.

The trick, William Potter, is not minding that you look silly on a scooter.
(Mopeds and Brewsters are, however, lost causes in this respect.)

I didn't know only the top 10% had the common snece to up from a base one or more sectors away from "the" fight and climb so to be 3k above the highest enemy con when you arrive.

Your Intertardnet connection farted and you were disconnected. That is all that happened. The only moderators that have boot powers are the employees of HTC or a select group of CMs that have that ability in the TA and SEA arenas only. It sucks when it happens but if you're gonna get mad and through a 'tard like nerd rage on the forums at least point the finger in the right direction.
ack-ack

It's more than just that. Getting kills is not that simple, after all you still have to shoot the enmy down, and getting back home to keep the (majority of) perks. And then it's not that it's only 51's and La's around, you can't really be a choser in a slow plane like the Brewster. The average 'victim ENY' is more like 10-15.
On this board the "average" player's skill is very much overrated. The average player is happy if he get's one kill at all, and harldy ever lands that.
To put things into perspective a little:
In tour 148, less then 30% of all fighter sorties were landed. The average player had less than 0.5 kills per sortie, his kills/hour were 2.7 and his hit% 3.6. And this in all kind of fighters, including all the late war monsters like P-51D, La, Spit 16. Having "only" one kill per sortie almost puts you in the top 10% of all players!
Now put Mr Average in a Beewster and tell him to rack up 50-100 Pony and Spit 16 kills in a few hours...
-
Hi, who are you, and when was your account last active? :devil
My account has been active for years. What does that have to do with anything?
My name is displayed in the sig line like yours is. Can't wait to see you rack up 400 B-239 kills, btw! :x

He did offer to wing up, did he not? As far as I know, wingmen protect each other a.k.a. tag-team.

Winging is not necesserily tag teaming, at least in my dictionary. I used to let my wingmen play their 1v1 just like they were letting me play with my opponents. 1v1s happened quite rarely in the MA, we tryed to grab the opportunities to have one. Of course, we jumped in when there were more cons trying to gang a squaddie. Maybe im just a "poor wingman", but thats an other tale.
Btw. Butcher was just giving you a friendly offer, was it something wrong with it?
-
OK, that I agree, the Brewster lacks the ability (when also lacking altitude to dive away) to disengage from a fight and run or make it back to home without any objection from determined would-be persuers.
But still, this is the LWMA we're talking about. Half the time the horde is litteraly ontop of a field, half of those times it's your own field (or you're within range of running to for safety and likely landing if need be).
Haven't seen you ingame in a while snuggie. 400?

Actually I made 10k in perks without a wingman and in 109g6's and other late war birds. Average skill is all you need as I am nothing more then average.

If you were ejected, you wouldn't have gotten a notice like this "Changing your session from TCP to UDP"
You would have gotten a notice saying you were ejected.
Your internet hiccupped, that's all.

You may not see yourself like that, but you are way above average. Just look at the numbers I posted above.

It does take ACM knowledge, and some experience, but anyone can be capable of learning and building perks and eventually farming.
Some great planes to perk farm are Mossy, C.205, 109G6.
Problem is people actually have to LEARN to get better then flying P51's into static targets.
-

The one who still has to learn it, is not there yet. And we are not talking about a player's future potential, we are talkign about the arena and it's players as is. "He could be good one day" isn't the same as "he is good".
And as said before, the average player, at any given time in the history of AH is and was happy if he's about to break the 1 kill/sortie barrier.
There's a perception problem resulting from the fact that we almost always are looking at the very extreme top players only (no matter hwo you define that), talk about multi kill sorties, watch awesome AH mvies of 1 vs the horde, see the "XX has landed 3 kills" messages in game.
But all these things are the great exceptions, balanced by hundreds of meagre one or none kill sorties that never rtb at all.
So no, the average player can't get 200 perks in just a few hours. And I'm not entirely convinced all of them could be taught to get that good at all.
-
And I'm not entirely convinced all of them could be taught to get that good at all.
Let me rephrase my comment then - Not everyone can be an "Ace" and land 5 kills per sortie or make few hundred perks a day, again however with ACM practice and some time in game a person CAN farm perks.
Doesn't matter if you make 5 an hour or 50 an hour its still perks. I'm convinced an average player can because I have trained my share that can fly quite well.
-
No you think that, and I know that when that happens your film is in the film folder with the most recent file name/date stamp.

OP, if you were running film, the film was saved automagically when you got disco'd.
so go look at it.

Everybody can 'farm' perks, but not at the rate that was claimed, i.e. 200 in 'a few hours'. Someone who is able to do so has long left the "average" status.
Same goes for someone attaining a K/D of 7+ in fighter mode like you have. He may claim being "average", but in fact he has left the average status long time ago. The true "average player" can only dream of such a feat, even when he's really trying for it.
I can only rehash: The skill level of Mr Average is greatly overrated. Many of us here on the board have forgotten what it really means to be average, in fact quite a few have never been.
FYI

You forget I've been playing for one year straight. Given an "Average" player like me a year to practice and learn, pretty sure others can achieve the same level.
You are missing the point. Once you have trained an average player to be at such an level, he is not average anymore. If you are looking for the average, you have to look at things how they actually are at any given moment. So again: If you take an average player and tell him to farm 200 perks now, he won't be able to do so in a few hours.
And I even disagree with the content of that quote of yours. Even after one year of practice, the overwhelming majority of players will not come even close to your stats. Even when you look at long term players, only a fraction does ever gets anywhere near that. But the average is anonymus, we only see the "stars" in the skies of AH.

I'm curious how average vs median works out .. Because I've seen your graphs on stuff like hit % and like 90% of players are below 5% (?).. if you took median, it would even be less, yeah? because the real top shots are skewing the average to the high end when you average.
-

:headscratch:
I'm not sure if I really understand what you mean. To clarify (maybe *g*): In that graph above there is no 'average' nor 'median' line shown. It shows the actual distribution of the respective values over the whole active AH player population, from 'best' player at the left to the 'worst' player on the right.
The 10, 25, 50 percent lines are simply indicating parts of the total population.
-
Pff you're upset over a disco'd 262? Try vulching a spitfire and augering your 262.(At least I got him.) That's something worth being upset over, a disco you have no control over.
Sheesh. Take a lesson from EvE Online. If you can't afford to lose it. Don't fly it.

This evening I tried to pick a vulching Hurricane in my 262 and augered without even getting a kill :lol

I wasn't meaning any particular graph, I just recall seeing the distribution.. most people are not even average! So, "average" might even be a long shot for most people. Most people think average = median.. thats all I'm getting at.
median = half below and half above.
ie. 5 10 10 30 30 50. average = 22.5, median = 20

Its no easy task getting kills in a Brewster/F4F - you are praying someone gets low/slow and wants to turn fight. Only way iv'e been able to fly it is coming off a carrier and climbing out to 7k, otherwise if you arn't 5k above something like an la7 they simply dont even need to move their stick.

During Xmas one year, vanscrew decided to shoot down HTC who was flying as Santa, I wish someone still had that screenshot, he got disconnected from the server shortly after lol.

haha...I wonder if since shooting santa is like hitting AltF4, that this year due to the changes when you shoot at santa you get a pop up ...Are you sure you want to do this... hahaha

You forget I've been playing for one year straight. Given an "Average" player like me a year to practice and learn, pretty sure others can achieve the same level.
I couldn't help myself and did another quick'n'dirty stats check.
The MR Average 148 which I was referring to was based on the whole arena of active player, including the (considerable number of) 2 weekers. So I tried to check how much the 'average' was improving when I reduced the sample to long time players.
The following graph shows the key fighter mode stat averages for 4 different levels:
1) All pilots of tour 148
2) All pilots of tour 148 who have also played the two tours before (which, among on/off players eliminates almost all 2 weekers)
3) All pilots of tour 148 having played at least 4 out of 5 previous tours (the 'regulars' of AH)
4) All pilots of tour 148 that had been around for a minimum of one year (of course that works only for players who didn't change their pilot id)
Quite rough and with some errors, but will work for my purposes
(http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/796/progrp.jpg)
There's a notable jump after getting rid of the two weekers, but there is not exactly a dramatic improvement after that. Mr Average still get's barely beyond 1 kill every 2 sorties :old:
Oh crap... now it's almost 7am... my wife will kill me :uhoh
But I think it's a really nice hijack of an otherwise worthless thread :devil :bolt:

I think these discoes are happening in real life :old:
It happened last week when I went to the pie shop :cry
I cannot see how my internet connection affected the pie shop to being cliosed? :cry
I also have lag and discoes when I am in a deep sleep as well :old:
my mrs says I am imagining it and should get out a more or paint the garden fence, I am unsure how this may solve the said problem :old:

i might have got discoed and forgot my math.
I also realized I am not really flying much, but drinking, sitting in guns and watching tv, so yeah, I'm set. :D

You should open a 24 hour pie shop drive-thru. maybe call it Mcmeaty's.

It helps to shoot something down once in a while..... ;)
I got 21 perks tonight with just 3 kills in a 109G2
WOW 21 points with just 3 kills ?

I did open a 24 hour pie shop but i ate all the pies :cry

Let me rephrase my comment then - Not everyone can be an "Ace" and land 5 kills per sortie or make few hundred perks a day, again however with ACM practice and some time in game a person CAN farm perks.
Doesn't matter if you make 5 an hour or 50 an hour its still perks. I'm convinced an average player can because I have trained my share that can fly quite well.
I see where this is going :noid

Don't up a 262 if you are afraid to lose it. You may have gotten to the Bombers only to be shot down. I had a formation of B29's up and was disconected once. We have all Discoed at inopertune times.
Many people were having trouble with the internet the other day (not related to AH). The severe storms and power outages wreak havoc with the web in certain areas.
177 Perks? hose 262's were on sale! I usally auger mine around 200+ perks. :lol

Up the right plane, kill the right plane, be on the low numbered side and yes, 21 is very possible...

There is the problem :aok
I rarely land kills or even sorties for that matter.

109G2 = ENY30
Killing 2 P-51s and one Spit 16 (all ENY 5) and landing them in a balanced arena would give you
3x(30/5)*1.25*1.0 = 22.5 perks

If you land on concrete you get the full perk amount, I forget how much of the perks you lose if you bail/ditch.

None. You get 100% the moment you shoot the guy down. You get a 25% bonus for 'landing successfully'.

Its points you get less of if you ditch/bail.

For score yes.
However, I tested it for perks and found it to be like Karnak said. At same perk bonus modifier I got 125% perks for landing and 100% perks for crashing while in score points it would have been 25% only

WOW 21 points with just 3 kills ?
that's nothing I do that in my pony everyday. oh wait that's 3 perks for 21 kills. oh well close enough. I think i earn like 50 perks a month flying my ponyd. and I still have thousands, so not sure why people who fly everyday or every other day dont have enough perks to up a ride every time they want. oh wait, i know. they fricking suck in the perk ride and lose them easy.
I once lost 3 straight sets of b29's on a bet that I couldnt take off from a certain base. I made it on the fourth at well over a hundred perks for each b29. I think that took me down to thousands of perks left. hell i lost a 262 last week because I hit a mountain because i couldnt hold it anymore and had to go #1. I laughed as I have lost more 262's to afk crashes that to enemy fire. I have lost tiger2 with 40 or 50 kills to a lose of 98% of my perks.
like everybody always says, if you cannot afford it to lose it , dont buy it.

Like Erckle "Did I do That?" Holy Crapola! :cry Don't every start a threat when you're too pissed to think straight. :furious :bhead I'm a :ahand Someone threw gas on my fire & said he knew for sure that a mod kicked him off right before he could have killed him...& yes I took the bait! :uhoh The guy in the B-29's I was chasing was "Valen". I found the video too and his name was there. I haven't been disco'd in Months, almost never fly perkie planes & even less in a 262, & I couldn't believe it was just bad luck....It had to be some Dark Sinister Plot! :noid :salute This thread was sufficient punishment. Perk bonus was high, and I shot down two P-51Ds and a Spitfire9.

*sigh* Well that was no fun... You were supposed to come back with a bunch of comments about how we were all kool-aid drinking fanboys but you saw through the lies and knew the truth. :)
Hehe, good on you for this post. <S>
