Is trinity completly removed from
game or can it be downloaded for use in the CA?
-
I think it has been replaced in the rotation with Greebo's "Crater MA".
Greebo's map is a big improvement in gameplay in my opinion. This was done,[I think] to address complaints from th ecommunity that Trinity was too restricitve, geographically, and took too long for map to reset.

Thats because the large portion want to horde a map and win it in 5 minutes or less, and they find out they cant do it on trinity unless two countries attack one, because even with an NOE raid on a field, the other country can react slow and still recover and defend unlike other maps.
Trinity has had some of the best fights that I can remember, doughnut map for example I can't recall many good fights unless it was a horde.

But can I use it for the CA is why I'm tryin to say. I understand it's gone from rotation, I want to know if it's gone from the game across the board
Side not: not home so I can't check myself, and knowing my cp I more than likely don't even have it. Would I be able to download it?

Try creating a custom arena. All available terrains are listed in the selection for terrain. If it isn't listed, then it's not available and you won't be able to use it. If it's listed, then choose it and it will download automatically if you don't have it on your local computer. To upload a terrain for use, you'll need the source files...so even if you actually had Trinity on your local computer, you wouldn't be able to upload it for use if it wasn't already there.

Hitech would never remove it from rotation for such simple terms. As I recall, Trinity was ruining any hope of real rotation of maps. The size and difficulty in player resets almost insured a near 50% chance that when you logged on, it would be the map in play. Since then new maps have been added along with some older ones reworked to also be included. There were a number of good things about trinity, that simply wore old, due to its overwhelming dominance in rotation time.
My hat is off to all of those who create these maps and to Hitech for allowing such important contributions from players and volunteers. Who knows there may be someone reworking Trinity or rotation rules to help bring it back to those who would like to see it again. That being said, it was a smart move by Hitech to allow the current rotation take place as well as their continued dedication to improve game graphics and game play. So, as ImAdot has pointed out one could always find their favorite map in Custom Arenas.
Another thing to take into account, woud be player preferences. Some of my happiest moments from Aces High I can recall was on an old map the spawned the Dueling Arena Lake concept. The action was purely sport, no base capture intended but tons of players, just as happy to go down in flames as long as they were able to quickly return to the fight and return the favor to another combatant. Long flights to reach the action and a quick death, certainly does not favor many players with lesser skills. One must ponder how long a paying customer would subject themselves to that sort of abuse, without some sort of encouragement. Even if that means base capture, or more player map resets.
Thats because the large portion want to horde a map and win it in 5 minutes or less, and they find out they cant do it on trinity unless two countries attack one, because even with an NOE raid on a field, the other country can react slow and still recover and defend unlike other maps.

Same here, nothing beats seeing Bishop on V85 camping it or that other base - you knew someone like LT would be camping there, take up a Stuka and get nothing but whining for a week.

A few weeks ago when Skuzzy was in the LW arena I asked him if there was any chance to get Trinity map back. He said "they are working on changes to the Trinity map and it will be brought back into rotation". No word on time frame for copletion.

That map had huge mountains :O but good gv fights.

One of you guys who miss Trinity so much should make a map and chuck it up in the custom arena. Shouldnt take too long, something like this:
V1 ---------------> <--------------- V2
then you can play GV whackamole for hours on end, just like Trinity :aok
-
lol hareder then that to make a map
-
trinity map was filled with good friends and good places to shoot... i miss that map.. it was a map where enemies became friends and friends became family ...respect born outa action :salute.. so i say... BRING BACK TRINITY! :O :O:rock :rock

Load up my terrain "Canyon" into a custom arena. It's a two-country map, but should provide some fun GV battles either at the central lake or where the spawn points meet in the north.

Because when a majority of customers complain about your product you should ignore them? :headscratch:

The last time i check CA only would allow 16 or 17 players in at one time so that not enough room for 1 squad let alone all the GVers.

Bring it back +100

Hate to pop your bubble but the majority of players do not even read the forums, much less post.

A quantitative sampling, then. :D

Respectfully, I'd submit that HTC noticed something about it that made it bad, either numbers shifting down when it's up or something else along those lines, and based their decision on that. A lot of squeaky wheels didn't like Trinity, but there was a pretty similarly sized group that seemed to vocally like it.
What gets said on the forum sometimes has meaning, but far more often it's just an echo of what might be going through the heads of some of the normal players in the arena.
Most were like me, just wanted some sky to fly in and make with the pewpew.

Another vote for the return of Trinity...
If the real reason it was removed was that it was to hard to reset...put a time limit on it, something like 48 or 72 hours or whatever.
Just my $0.02...
-
It's not only that is was hard to reset, but that the front lines rarely moved from their starting positions. So you would log on for a week or more and find not only the same map, but the same few fields being fought over.
It was also badly imbalanced, with one border having the famous campfest which sucked GVers away from the other two borders and a gap through the mountains at A1 but with no similar gaps at the other two borders. Other maps have balance issues, Mindanao springs to mind, but at least they are only up for a day or two.
Trinity should only come back when HTC fix its issues. To avoid the frontline bottleneck they should lower the border mountains to a reasonable height, say 7K, add one or more gap fields similar to A1 at the other two borders and put a few island bases in the border seas. Also either move the campfest spawns to tank town or at least balance it with two more campfests on the other borders.

It was not. Although an agressive time limit would of benefited it, a rebalance could of as well (couple more ports/CVs, copy-paste V135 two more times on each front... on the personal side, maybe trim the mountains just ~5k).
And Greebo brought up some similar and better points too, I forgot it even had a TT in the middle (but it was underutilised (especialy with the more popular V-spawns) as TTs go in the MAs, so...).
-
Greebo,
So when are you submitting your updated version of Trinity? It's not a bad map so much as we have changed our play style and it's become too restrictive and stalemates rather than instigates combat initiatives.
You hit the problems on the head related to todays game play style, versus when it was first introduced, it was a huge success to that generations game play style. Your new map seems to be you wanted to refurbish Trinity but, decided to reinvent it on a smaller scale instead.

wow 1 year and 1300 post....worst than Midaqua...my questions is ......
why?

Greebo,
So when are you submitting your updated version of Trinity?
It would require HTC to release the source files for the terrain for anyone to be able to alter it. I doubt I'll ever get the time to do another terrain personally, I'd rather be skinning anyway. While there are similarities between my CraterMA and Trinity (border mountains, ringed TT) it is entirely coincidental. The border mountains are in no way a barrier between the countries like they are in Trinity.
CraterMA was originally designed over 4 years before it was released and I adapted it several times as AH's strat setup changed. However if I was designing an MA terrain from scratch for the current setup it would be a large terrain with the maximum 256 fields per side. That way a country has to capture 17 fields from each side to change the map and it would hang around a bit longer. I'd keep the front lines restricted to about 4-6 available fields per side by arranging them in ribbons across the map. This would bring players together, but not too much as in Trinity's front line setup. I'd also avoid placing too many fields in isolated spots where they could not be supported from adjacent fields.
-
I am aware Trinity has it's faults, so do all the maps. Folks are going to complain about this map or that map, your never going to please everyone.
-

It is fixed. It's called CaterMA now. :D :aok

Actually no it isn't. The few times I recall being fortunate enough to play on CraterMA, it didn't last long (like a day). Trinity had the virtue of staying around for at least several days.

Technically--there was nothing wrong with Trinity. It provided all the basics that (IIRC) management here liked--including very strategic choke points at all 3 borders.
To "fix" Trinity--the main complaint used to be 2-fold....1) The monster high mountains on all three starting fronts, and 2) That it took a "long time" for any side to gain a clear or winning advantage to go to the next map.
Just take the mountains down to about 7 to 10K and reduce the base count amount by (+/-) 25%m on all three sides.
Leave the front bases alone and subtract from the extreme rear eschelon bases and then simply replace the HQ and strat locations by an equal but shorter distance but still have the option to have strats move further to the rear as before...only with fewer bases.
With fewer bases to take the map and mountains less than a 1/3rd of what they were before, most of the complaints that got Trinity tossed would be addressed.
You will still have a map that is good for GV battles, furballs, cv strategy, but yet is still large enough for those want to meet a foe out of the way for a in-game duel.
