Smaller engine option, even our muscle cars are turning into gas sipping wusses.
I miss commercials that always said the 0 to 60 rating ,now its always mph and no one cares about performance.

you can blame the wonderful EPA for that.  :aok It's ridiculous that diesel truck now have to fill an EXHAUST FLUID UREA TANK or the truck will go into half performance mode.

Cool looking car though!

If they reverted to the 2005 body, which was beefier in my opinion, and then added the lip over the rear quarter panel, that would give it the real retro look they are going for.  This one looks like an acura :(  Oh well, I'll keep mine, not enough there to entice me out of it.

But not the v8 ,the real muscle car engine .
Sport cars come with 4 and 6 cylinders muscle cars come with 8.

Watch the episode with the ZR1, Challenger, and Cadillac CTS V.  They hated the Challenger, but loved the other 2.  And over in the UK, try finding a car for the same price that will do what the ZR1 will do, and good luck.

The new base model with the ecoboost is going to be every kids dream car for a first vehicle.  It'll be cheap compared to most cars, predictions are under 23$k, and with 300hp, compared to the 5.0 GT of my day in high school, it will have 75 more HP and more torque.  There was a 4 cyl turbo mustang back in 1985 or so, it was a neat vehicle then.  This new base model with some cheap mods will easily be in the 350 hp range, and the 14 or even high 13 second range factory, which is very impressive for a cheap new vehicle.  They will sell like hotcakes I'm betting.

Gman, that 85 turbo 4 was the svo mustang!   I drove many of them and I think it will be the option of choice for many!

The Eco4 should have a better weight bias, add in IRS and you might have a stang that turns! I see it as a tuners car also with aftermarket coolers and higher boosts who know how much power you can squeeze outta those little mills.

Ya I know no replacement for displacement but there comes a point where it's only good in a straight line.

Personally I like cars that will turn corners more than cars that will tear up the 1/4 mile but to each their own. I might just have to make a trip to test drive one of these{econobox} stangs.

Bottom line performance is pretty darn good.  FWIW the 3.7L 6 from 2011-2014 is good to about 600hp on stock internals before it kabooms.  A $5k procharger and a few basic mods get you 450RWHP with better weight distribution than the 5.0.

I've enjoyed my little ecobox convertible immensely!  Exceeded expectations in all areas!

Says the guy building an LS swap C3 Corvette to race :)

This Mustang owner likes the new look.  They are definitely moving toward a new modern look but still retained classic mustang lines.

Ford has not released official power figures for the GT but have stated there will be an increase.  My guess is close to 450 HP at the crank.

Rumor has it there will not be a supercharged Shelby GT500.  I hope this is untrue. What speculation I have read is they will go with a SVT designed GT350 which will be naturally aspirated.  The car supposedly will be race inspired - read really lightened track car.

I will wait and see.  I am considering selling my 2010 here in Europe hoping to get more money out of the car.  I have had a few serious offers from locals but at the time had no desire to sell the car.  I have too much money in it to sell it in the States.

Trucks, yes. Cars, no way. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice (at the cost of a new automatic tranny with only 122k miles on the Mustang) shame on me again.

The next 'muscle car' (if I ever purchase one) will NOT be a Ford unless of course it's a classic car.

The last two generations of mustang were directly influenced by the aston martin's previous generation model.

The current mustang is  no different.

The interesting part is that the aston martin vantage was influenced by the early mustang so it comes full circle.

My very first legal car, I bought a few cars and Bikes when I was 15yo so they were technically illegal.

I found it on a used car lot in 1974 with 32,000 miles on it. It was "Tits". This is not the exact car but it was a carbon copy. A '66 powder blue with custom Pony interior, a 289 V8, black vinyl top. This was my High school car complete with 8-track player and plenty of music cassettes. Hell of a year 1974. ;)

Beauty. Like I'd said, whenever I can afford one, I'm just going to have a custom shop build me something around one of the reproduction '65 bodies that's available.

Meant to say the last generation mustang was influenced by the vantage.........not the last two.

i honestly thought that this next gen was gonna be a re-skinned aston.
