Also there's shadowing in game play.
How do I fix this?
-
Are shadows enabled in game?? And what do you mean colors are wrong, can you please go into detail?

green is more yellow, text is faint or not rich. I guess there's different hues of each color than what was on my LCD. Also they're blurry. I'm not sure about the shadows. Where is that located?
Thanks for the help!

Is Windows running in the native resolution of your new monitor?
Here's a decent web site to help "eyeball" some basic calibration settings...might help.

Sounds like it needs calibration!
do a search for LCD calibration, you can find free calibration stuff, you may need to burn a CD/DVD and simply follow the directions.
I would do that before you try to make adjustment with your vidcard settings.
YMMV.
:salute
PS: I guess Dot beat me to it,should have read his post before I posted mine..... :o

Sounds more like a bad cable. Are you using a VGA connector perhaps? That can cause the said problems if the cable is damaged or cable length is too long.
-
W7 has a pretty descent color calibration built in just right click on the desktop. Start with the monitor in default or standard settings.
-
Your text may also become blurry if you forced anisotropic filtering in your graphics settings. AH doesn't like that.

As a rule of thumb anyway, if you bought a new device and its picture doesn't look right, chances are you got a lemon. Get active, find out if the monitor looks bad also on other computers and on other cables and if it does you need to RMA it.

Make cup of tea and sit down fiddling with your settngs for a day :old:
It took ages for me to get images correct :old:
HDMI is the best...blue touch paper :)
Blurry icons as stated is defo a graphics card setting sort :old:

All of the digital connected monitors I have had have had picture perfect images right from the box. No blurryness, no color defects that would jump out on you. Calibration is a whole other issue but that's mostly required only if you do serious photo work. If the picture is so much off that the colors argue with your eye there's usually something wrong with the hardware or cables.

That's the conclusion I came to. I put my old monitor back on. It's too late to RMA it. I bought it last year for another computer and never got around to checking it out until Sunday.

Long shot here but you could try calling the manufacturer and explain the situation. They might make things right or be willing to compromise a solution. Worst that can happen is they say no.

One has audio, one doesnt. Shouldnt be a factor.

You are probably right about shouldn't be a factor, however, there are analog (DVI-A), digital (DVI-D), and both analog & digital (DVI-I) DVI cables. Something to watch out for.

I really do think this is calibration problem with the monitor. Did you try W7 calibration program? It is really very good.
I had blurry text and it fixed that. Just go back to all default setting before you start or you will have the video card fighting the monitor settings.
-
Did you try different color temperatures? Note that LED monitors have good contrast but that's about it.

A digital signal can't be calibrated for anything but color correction. If the monitor uses a VGA connector then all sorts of analog problems may need calibrating.

In the television world, that is correct. However, the DVI timing signals for computers are different than the DVI portion of a televisions HDMI connector.
Yes, there are two different DVI standards. One for computers and one for television.
