Youtube killed the quality. But it serves it's purpose all the same.

It was a pleasure fighting you 22 times (if I counted correctly) this past week, sir. I see you filmed a few of our fights. Here's a few of the others you requested:

Great fun and -=S=-
I'll post the other 14 fights/kills (at least the ones on my end) as soon as I hook my computer back up. I'm in the process of moving and don't have them readily available.
I meant to salute you ingame, but I had to log before I could - I just wanted to say that fighting your K4 in my D9 when I had no engine whatsoever was one of the funnest fights I've had in a long time. Not sure how I pulled the win off, but it was a doozy!

Dude, what are you trying to prove with those films? You obviously know how to take advantage of base defenses. You roll in a LA-7 (ohhh!).
Win in a Zeke or a P-40 then post films

Only one of the fights was in an LA-7 - I also flew a K4 and TA-152 to the same effect. Base defenses didn't come into play in any of the outcomes (the single time he flew into ack, I was disengaging him as I shot his fuel tank and was waiting for him to ditch and give me the kill). So with that, I'm not sure what the point of your post is. Are you saying that fights from even (as well as disadvantaged) positions in relatively similar aircraft should not be posted? That seems rather illogical.
-
Interestingly enough, the OP's video doesn't actually show him killing me. He got an assist as I had been fighting 4 others prior to him and had been badly shot up. You can confirm this as I've not been killed by him in an LA-7.

My point is fly with a handicapped AC, film it, win it, then impress us

In 11 years of flying with The Damned, we've removed just two members. That's just one member removed every 5.5 years (for comparison, there are squads posting in this very thread that have ejection rates more than triple that). Removals are never the decision of any one person; they are openly voted upon, and it takes a lot for a member to be removed. Yes, Vraciu was one of those members. He was not alienated by any single player nor removed by any single person's decision. Any of the other members in our squad can confirm the above, and they are welcome to share their own thoughts.
Contrary to whatever beliefs might be had, we're actually very laid back, and if you've ever listened to any of our comms, you'd find it reflects the same.
The one thing that sets us apart is that we play for, we thrive in, competition and conflict. We enjoy an environment of pure competition, and we enjoy having groups conflict with us as it gives us a steady stream of opponents. In fact, we wouldn't play this or any other game without it. As a group, we play for the competition and the win - all else is rubbish. This has been the trait that has set us apart from every other group I have gamed with, and bluntly I wouldn't have it any other way.
Fulcrum fits into our squadron quite well. He has been a member of The Damned for some time now and has brought immense value to the squadron. The only way he is leaving is if he does so of his own will.
So with that, I'll take your bet and raise you. Before our time is done, I say that several in this thread will be gone long before us. We've been doing what we do for over a decade now, and we are VERY good at it. We know how this ends, because we've been down this road so many countless times before.

Editing ProTips:
1. Use OBX/FRAPS to show live in-game footage instead of a filmed fight, doesn't show chat log. Much harder to disprove/alter..
2. When trying to shame someone it's best to show several kills, even better to put up duels. Even better to put up quotes claiming they will beat you, then monkey-stomp them in said duel videos..
3. Try to have your aspect ratio and resolution be uniform..black bars on the sides are bad..
4. Cartoon fonts from the 90's are terrible..Use minimalist fonts..
Overall 3/10..looking forward to the much improved next release..

+100. Also, be sure to only use kills of your subject pilot - using assists where you didn't actually get the kill or even do the majority of damage subtracts from your credibility.

E fighting is just lame sauce... No fun in those duels, it's the easiest style/ most boring style of fighting.
Plus flying the fastest planes the game and the 152, which literally poops E out of its Ahole makes this game pretty easy vs opponents when the only method of skill involved is timing the rope correctly.
What's the point of dueling if the whole time it's nothing more than a merge. That's boring. All it shows is that you can climb the highest on the merge.
Only partial half skill there.
The other half is being in the opposite position or in the disadvantage in a slower plane and being able to come out on top.
Keep flying the fastest planes in the game, all it proves is that you have to have your precious speed advantage in order to be successful in AH. I outgrew that phase many moons ago.
I'd love to have a rematch, when I can actually read the instruments and do care about my speed on the merge, excuses or not, I was litterally too hammared to really take it seriously and I'm willing to bet my merge speed was attrocious compared to yours after the first 2 fights. I thought the first 2 fights were the best fights, but I certainly didn't match close to speeds on the merge in the rest of the fights, (my drunk fault, I foreal had a very small window of brain function left that morning lol). I didn't film it so I don't even know. But honestly I just don't even feel like fighting a boring E fight, it really just puts me to sleep.
P.S
Skyyr, I was praying you were gonna auger that 152 in the other night lol, was really my only hope. I was actually suprised you didn't. But my slow F4U1 couldn't do much other than attempt reversals and that other 190d just ruined all my hopes. Ohwell haha.
-
So what, exactly, is a "fun" and "fair" duel? I ask because the definition seems to be constantly changing.
It used to be winning a same plane, co-E, guns cold at initial merge DA 1v1 duel was considered the deciding factor for skill....but now there are so many additional qualifiers I'm starting to lose track! Examples:
1. Winning in certain "E-rides" dosent really count.
2. If you won by simply managing your E better it really doesn't count, despite the fact that every ACM tutorial I've ever read notes E management as one of the most critical factors in a dogfight....
3. If you won simply by being better in the initial merge it doesn't count. :huh :headscratch:
I could go on with other examples...and I could also point out that these additional qualifiers are usually in response to a member of a certain squad losing a match....but why bother? Anyone with a pulse can see the situation for what it really is....
-

CO-E being the main point in fights with the same planes.
It really makes a huge difference when your game is only made up of E fighting. The first 2 fights were close to equal E states buts it's obvious the other fights were not. Like I said it was my fault though for not watching my speed on the merge.
That being said, winning one match against me at 2am after hours of pounding drinks at the bar really isn't that big of deal or anything to boast about. I wasn't going to say anything until Skyyr posted that video. I wasn't in the right state of mind, its obvious, how could I possibly fly my best. It was meant to be fun and to screw around, not take it as a serious match, hell I don't even know what vraciu said to spark the duel, but I accepted cuz the MA was boring and I didn't want to sleep yet.
And I didn't say winning in E planes doesn't count. I just said it makes for easy kills always being able to scoot away and outclimb planes. Try having that type of sucess in a 109g2.
I never said it wasn't fair. I said its just not fun to fight E styles because it's a boring style of fighting, who ever can rope whoever first on the merge is just lame. That is just my opinion
-

Got to be honest, a round of tummy sticks never crossed my mind.

It's really boring for the person who can't manage their E as well as their opponent, however, if you put two really good E fighters up against each other it almost always winds up in a stall fight and/or rolling scissors..giving some of the folks around here that white knuckle "knife" fight they are looking for...
If some folks around here claim that it is sooo easy, then every duel you have against one a good E fighter should wind up in a slow fight where the superior ACM prowess of the defensive masters here should prevail everytime.
But, it seems people aren't as good at energy retention as they claim to be...or at least it isn't as easy to execute as some people make it seem.
The problem here is that people are setting standards in which they cannot lose...
1. Pilot X chooses to Fly a slow plane
A. Shoots someone down - X wins, superior pilot because he killed someone in a superior plane .
B. Gets shot down by pilot Y (better plane) - X wins because Y couldn't be a superior pilot because of X's plane choice..X died by his choice of plane, but is still mute skilled than Y by default...
Replace plane with flight style and it still looks pretty dumb from a competitive stand point..
-

Plus flying the fastest planes the game and the 152, which literally poops E out of its Ahole makes this game pretty easy vs opponents when the only method of skill involved is timing the rope correctly.
If energy fighting is the easiest flight style, then why will an energy fighter vs a bnz or tnb fighter win every single time against the opponent given the same skill levels? If by easy, you mean more effective then I agree with you, however learning to manage your energy through low G maneuvers, maneuvers that make the opponent lose energy, and defensive flying is by far more complicated then dumping flaps and turning in circles, or blasting through a furball at 500 mph over and over again, extending out of icon range and climbing to 20k each time. Mind you, energy fighting can sometimes consist of both.
Also, the 152 has a top sea level speed of around 361mph on the deck, which is far worse then the common speed demons you see, and it holds one of the worst acceleration rates in the game (aka ability to building energy fast). It takes over 15 minutes to go from optimal climb speed to full speed WITH WEP at its prime altitude. It does, however, hold one of the top spots at keeping energy, similar to the 262 and p51 (which both have much higher top speeds at sea level). Learning to fight like this can win you a 5 or even 10 versus 1 in an MA environment, simply by taking advantage of the horde's hunger for an easy kill and using your strengths (I have a few films of me winning 5, 8 and 10 v 1s doing this.
So I ask you again, is energy fighting really the easiest/lamest way to fight? Or is it the most successful, however frustrating to those who do not wish to learn it.
-
If energy fighting is the easiest flight style, then why will an energy fighter vs a bnz or tnb fighter win every single time against the opponent given the same skill levels? If by easy, you mean more effective then I agree with you, however learning to manage your energy through low G maneuvers, maneuvers that make the opponent lose energy, and defensive flying is by far more complicated then dumping flaps and turning in circles, or blasting through a furball at 500 mph over and over again, extending out of icon range and climbing to 20k each time. Mind you, energy fighting can sometimes consist of both.

The comments made here are indicative of not having played at a high level in other flight sims. Turnfighting is more effective in AH than it is in most other flight sims, and even real life. However, even with the flight modeling, energy fighting will always trump turnfighting. This is ACM 101.
Secondly, claiming that energy fighting is easier directly contradicts Robert Shaw. Mr. Shaw has stated many times, both directly and indirectly, that energy fighting requires a much more experienced pilot due to the nuances of it. In fact, he actually discourages going vertical at the first merge because it's virtually impossible to gauge an opponent's energy levels at the first encounter (due to the difficulty of entering into an E fight). The difference in AH and games like it, is that we don't have our lives on the line and we run our engines at full throttle, and we have tags that show what planes our opponents are flying, so we know the parameters of our fights before they happen. Still, Robert Shaw wrote the book on turnfighting and he maintains that energy fighting is harder, if only due to the nature of entropy.
If you were to go out to any other flight sim, you'd find most all of the "good" pilots fly like we, The Damned, and many others (such as Poison) do. That is not to claim we're good, I'm simply stating that our flight style is quite common and accepted as an "experienced" flight style outside of AH. The idea that the majority of sim pilots fly in turning, stalling circles is a big fish, little pond mentality. Once you migrate past AH, you'll realize why we don't voluntarily opt for the turnfight. Our flight style translates to every other sim. Yours does not, and I can say that with 100% certainty, both as a simmer, a gamer, and a real pilot.
Regarding our duels, we dueled in the same plane, so it wouldn't have mattered if we were in fast planes or slow planes - our aircraft had the same performance. Therefore, your comments regarding "having to have" fast planes don't really apply at all. I beat you without a relatively fast plane (as well as your other cohorts), so that statement is also false.
We fly fast planes because we simply prefer to force energy fights. We could fly slower, more maneuverable planes, but we find no enjoyment in getting wrapped up into 5-minute long fights. That's it, nothing more. You enjoy the "thrill" of the fight, we enjoy the "thrill" of killing as many as we can each sortie. The difference is that one flight style translates into every other sim, the other does not. Other than that, it's just preference.
Lastly, our duels took place at 3AM my time, and I was punch drunk. The interesting thing about being drunk when flying, at least in sims, is that it reduces you to flying based on your ingrained instincts. Seeing as we both flew under the same conditions at the same time, that should further reinforce my point.

It's really boring for the person who can't manage their E as well as their opponent, however, if you put two really good E fighters up against each other it almost always winds up in a stall fight and/or rolling scissors..giving some of the folks around here that white knuckle "knife" fight they are looking for...
of all my duels of late with E-fighters, all kill shots were made above the 2nd emmel... the only one that went full stall was with poison in hogs... and it was above second emmel also... but to be honest, I haven't had a duel of late that hasn't been an E-milk duel... I guess the old balls out turn and burn fights are out.. if you want to duel these days, and be competetive, you must learn to E milk.... and unfortunately it is lame as all get out... so not fun, even when you win.... :aok I will say that I see some good new sticks that fly very well... and that is always good... I don't see any Yucca's or blukittys or levi's though.. those who could fly into a hot mess and kill everything... lots of great e managers these days though... and some great angles fighters... :aok

You only have one style. Where as I have both styles and prefer to fly with harder and more challenging planes. Any time you lose your speed or do not win the merge you lose the fight. Your speed is all you have that's why you are terrible at definsive moves, when ever people get on your 6 you are dead. You have to fly fast planes in order to escape the fight. Flying the fastest and calling yourself great in a video game is moronic. You can only fly one style in those planes because these planes cannot turn well. You do not learn the slow fighting techniques, you will fail in a dire situation when you suddenly lose advantage.
I have played for like 8 years longer than you on AH. I know how every single plane in this game flies. I have played every style of fighting to its max, and I have achieved high marks. I remember when I first started and had to fly the fastest planes to survive... Rookies..
-
That's interesting conjecture, but you still didn't answer how I beat you 5-1 in the same planes as you if I could only fly, to quote you, "fast planes." When both planes are the same, neither plane is a "fast plane."
Also, if you mastered both styles, yet are beaten by someone who supposedly knows only one style, you probably haven't mastered either. ;)

Because unfortunately in the first fight you should have died after I drilled you the first time, and somehow the plane fly's perfectly with half a tail ... in real life you would have been Hoesed. The second fight with the nik you couldn't out climb me and I got you. After that, you clearly had more speed than me on the merge... Congratulations.. Like i said, one match like that.. Was a joke. You proved nothing other than you could win with more speed. In the MA you are nothing without your speed advantage..

I was referring to your losses 1v1 in the DA. So you're now mocking that I resort to E tactics flying a TA below 10,000ft against an F4U and a N1K? A plane that turns substantially worse than either aircraft. I suggest yet again that you read Robert Shaw's book.
The DA was your chance. We flew the same planes at the same alt at the same E states. Better luck next time.

My chance... Please.. That was the warm up session..
And I was referring to the first 190D fight and the nik fight after during the duel.
And u clearly used E tactics in the 152 fight. Good thing the 152 can "hold E" so well.. After 8 passes and a 190D teammate distraction you finnally pulled off a shot,
You fly the easiest planes in the MA and think you are some kind of greatness. Please...again lame, I remember when I first stared playing .. Just admit that you are weak in the MA when you can't out run opponents. You are weak when you can't run because you don't know defensive ACM.
Don't even get me started on mocking.
Our drunkness was not equal.. Say what you will but that fight was a joke.
Keep flying newb planes in the MA because that's the only way you can pretend to be a decent AH pilot.
I'll be flying the Temp the all next tour to prove a point. You are all weaksouce in the MA without our go fast, run out of trouble, I can't fight when someone is going faster than me, girly crap.
I'll show you just how easy it is to fly E mode "stay alive" mode in AH. Its easy when you fly the best planes of the war. Yall are a joke...

Shame I didn't see you tonight scotch.

....
Highlights are mine...and I can confirm this.
I am currently busy unlearning several BAD habits I picked up over the past few years and relearning things which worked well for me prior to AH when I flew the original IL2. BTW...This is not said to demean AH or the pilots here....those tactics do indeed work here and they can work in other Sims as well...just not to the same degree. Part of this is due to the differences in flight models and game mechanics....part due to the vast majority of players using historically correct E tactics.
Between that and relearning those things that are either not modeled here (e.g. engine management) or simply modeled for the sake of gameplay (e.g. takeoffs, landings) its been a fun challenge.

I have both styles and prefer to fly with harder and more challenging planes.
This is what I mean...if he kills you when you chose to fly your slow planes and doesn't play your game (ie., get in a turn fight with you, therefore giving up his advantage) is that his fault? Its a win/win for you no matter what..
If you kill him flying your crappy plane..you are amazing because you won and beat someone in a better plane. YOU WIN
If he kills you, he sucks because you flew a harder plane (not his choice but yours). YOU WIN (because he chose easy planes but still killed you?).
You can't really complain about getting shot down in the MA...its an arena and you chose your weapon , you live or die with the results..in the end it is still your choice.
The DA is a different animal because you get the same weapons...you saw how that went. I'm amazed that you guys make so many excuses...we are going to need a Pre-Duel checklist in order to proceed:
Duel Excuses Checklist:
1. Have you consumed any alcoholic beverages within the last 24 hours? If YES (Reschedule) if NO (Continue).
2. Would you consider yourself to be "rusty" or not 100% ready for the duel? If YES (Reschedule) if NO (Continue).
3. Is your joystick/PC/Internet connection FULLY operational? If YES: DUELS ON! If NO (Reschedule).
:rofl

Do you play other combat flight sims, Skyrocked? I'm pretty sure you and several others in your squad have stated in the past that AH was their only flight simulation experience. If I'm wrong about this, so be it....but if I'm not..... how the hell would you actually know I'm wrong?
Unless, of course, you have other ulterior motives...like "trolling" ....one of the very few things your squad is actually still proficient at these days.

Well then you obviously don't get it then. Planes do matter...I don't even understand how someone like yourself cannot understand that simple principle... If I kill you in a 1940 plane vs your 1945 temp. Obviously that took more skill/luck than if you would have killed me. Your plane was designed to have the advantage... Ie, that plane should win if flown properly, regardless if the other plane is flown properly.
I do get it, however, My problem is when you come across that competent pilot that does what he is supposed to do and kills you in your old plane. You shouldn't complain at that point..or even give that other guy grief, instead of "Waah You suck! Why don't you fly old planes like me/my friends" You can simply say "Well that guy did what he was supposed to do"...Now if that guy does what he is supposed to do every single time you are flying your old plane you can't really blame him..again..the weapon of choice is your own. You can't expect someone else to change their game around your desire to fly an old plane..
Yes getting more kills In harder planes does deserve more praise. Winning in easy mode planes should be expected. The logic is solid, they won wars because of this!!
And the MA is the "war" part, so if your objective is to get as many kills as possible as quickly as possible (As we have said it is for us)..it only makes sense to fly something that allows you to do that. Again this doesn't take away from the fact that people are less skilled or more..you go to the DA for that...
You will see next tour when I only fly the temp. Won't be difficult to get easy kills and run home. It won't even be a challenge for me, which is why after 8 years of playing I don't care about getting caught up I'm slow fights. I've played the E game in the MA already. . But I'll prove how much of a joke flying the fastest planes and easiest planes are. You think that
makes you good or winning a scrimmage late night fight means something pffftt.... Come on.
I fully expect you to finish with a 200:0 KD if its so easy...you should be ranked top 5 and we should all marvel at your greatness..I'll pay your sub for 6 months if you finish in Top 5 with less than 10 deaths/captures with 300 kills and at least 8 KPH. Deal?
It was one fight. Do you think he has the confidence to fight me again? I've fought people hundreds of times in this game.. You think 5-1 to a solid record. That one crummy scrimmage match of mine means anything, hell sure anyone would giving me a hard time. You think one joke film means you are better at flying overall in AH vs me and my sqaud? please, you haven't even been around long enough to see most of the players. I laugh at your squads arrogance and again, rookines to AH.
If I played something for 8 years and someone who played for 1 came and beat me 5-1, even while drunk, I'd admit that person is probably pretty good (or better than me).
I challenge you to find one post were we say "We are Better than AoM" or "We are the Best squad in AH", what I can say is that If this is 1 year in, I wonder what it will be like at 3 years in..If someone was awesome at the game and they no longer play, it means nothing, you cant play against a memory..So I don't need to have played for 15 years to know who is good right now.
Yep we are arrogant, we didn't ask for help when we got here and that seems to tick people off, we don't fly by the same standards as some in the community and that ticks people off, we have a set ideology when it comes to combat and that ticks people off..
Damned if we do, no fun if we don't.
I can't wait till I get the opportunity to duel you all again.
Most impartial and competitive thing you have stated so far..
I bet I'd destroy any of you in the AvA arena, with no icons.. With axis vs allied planes that are somewhat even.. Yall couldn't even handle that. When you don't know I'm around I'm one of the most deadly. Infact, that would be awesome to have a big fight there.. See who's SA is really legit.
And now you ruined it...I mean you saw the film..you typed it yourself..you told Skyyr "He would not last 2 seconds against you in any plane in the DA" and he blew that outta the water. Now you say you'd destroy any of us as so matter of factly like we haven't played in an environment that has no icons and is truly representative of the plane set of different countries..implying the use of a skill that has nothing to do with mechanics and EVERYTHING to do with good habits in flying combat sims (SA), and you just said WE are arrogant..look in the mirror bruh.
-
Kruel, the situation is the following:
"we" like to fight one way, what might not be the most effective, but is much more entertaining to actually turn your aircraft against a potent/equal opponent. Win or lose, does not matter because the fight was fun - like 3 years ago i have uploaded a ~7mins skirmish against Bighorn to this forum, belive me, that was the most fun fight this game and theese players could ever give me, even though i have lost that one. Check out that film.
"you" like to "fight" an other way, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, except two little things.
-it bores us. Not because "we" cannot point our nose up like anyone else, remember our fights in 190Ds, won some, lost some, wasnt bad at all, still i got bored because they were all the same: nose up, wep on, extend... idk if its just me being this much inpatient.
-some individuals (ehm) like to pose as the masters of the game because they have "SA and K/D über alles" mentality and they know how to energy-fight. It does not matter if they lose horribly when its about the actual turning. This behaviour just naturally irritates everyone therefore it is unacceptable for everyone. Every action results a reaction you know: here is the reaction for your masters provocation. Posting a youtube video from his every single kill with belittling comments... seriously what do you expect, should we remain friendly?
-
In psychological terms, it's called "Little man syndrome", whereas the person uses the bigger better plane, and does ONLY what gets them "wins"(not unlike the winning that Charlie Sheen did). This is done because of gross feelings of inadequacy in real life. Cops carry larger gun, men drive flashy, sporty cars, etc....all because they fear their manhood is not up to par. Those of us who fight turny birds/older planes that are a REAL CHALLENGE to fight in don't have those feelings of "being less than", we don't care, because we KNOW we're REAL men in REAL LIFE, and that in this cartoon game winning with an advantage, like the Damned always use, is no real win.
-

I'll take you up on that deal. 300 kills with = or < than 10 deaths. You can marvel at my dweebery in noobs planes. It won't be my first time in the top 5. Hopefully I'll have enough time to reach 300 kills from my personal life.
Just like me saying, yeah flying harder planes makes combat more difficult against uber rides in the MA, you post videos on youtube in Uber planes claiming some kind of air superiority when its obvious that you needed to fly easier mode planes in order to achieve that success. So where is the superiority?? How does that make you a good pilot when you have to fly easy planes? All it shows is that y'all have to fly with a crutch because once you lose speed advantage its game over. If you should have gotten the kill from flying Uber rides, how does that make you better than everyone else to defame any of the individuals and mock them by posting videos of them while you are in a Uber plane that can escape fights.... All it proves is a lack of character.
Our fights were joke, what don't y'all understand about that. It proved nothing. It was mearly a scrimmage match, but of course that shows my "true" skill... Right... All it was was out roping on the merge after the first 2 fights from a clear lack of speed on the merge. That proves nothing other than he can perform a rope on me when he has more speed. He thinks one halfass fight vs me means he is better, That is BS. It was stupid of me to even accept that fight in the first place given the circumstances, congrats on the freebee, I'm glad you feel accomplished over a half hearted fight.
Like I said, flying those types of planes, and only using that E style, does not train you to be good at defensive flying when planes jump your 6 and you can't run away. It's clear that your whole squad lacks those skills. I've went a way from E flying in order to perfect defensive style techniques, which is why I can fly more chellenging planes and still he successful. What we have here is a dragster vs stock car race.
Like I said, I'd like a rematch/duel verse all of the damned pilots.
And yeah, I was talking watermelon about the AvA arena. Since realism matters so much. Just thought I'd add a little more fuel to the fire :D

Oh boy…deep breath, here we go
Kruel, the situation is the following:
"we" like to fight one way, what might not be the most effective, but is much more entertaining to actually turn your aircraft against a potent/equal opponent.
It is more entertaining for YOU, doesn’t mean it is for other people. In the MA, we tend to avoid turn fighting because we want to kill as many as possible as effectively as possible..that’s what WE find entertaining, but we don’t tell other people how much they suck because they turn fight, we tell them its ineffective vs E Fighting and its less optimal in a multiple target setting, because well, it is..
Where we come from we don’t make fun of people because they killed us using a particular flight style or plane, we just simply up something equal or fly differently and try to get even.
Win or lose, does not matter because the fight was fun - like 3 years ago i have uploaded a ~7mins skirmish against Bighorn to this forum, belive me, that was the most fun fight this game and these players could ever give me, even though i have lost that one. Check out that film.
That’s grand and all, we have fought with Krupinski for hours in the DA just messing around, at one point I started to E fight and he didn’t feel like it, so we jumped in Spit Vs and started turn fighting, but that is the DA messing around, if we are in the MA or DA in a formal duel, I am going to fight my fight and you are going to fight your fight, whom ever is better wins, end of story. If you beat me while turn fighting that means you were better, if you beat me while E fighting, still doesn’t change the outcome, you were better, if you beat me shutting off your engine, still doesn’t change the fact that you beat me. The end result is all that matters to us. A lot of people here do a lot of whining because they got beat instead of looking in the mirror and saying “how can I get better”.
"you" like to "fight" an other way, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, except two little things.
-it bores us.
So one of the reasons our flight style is wrong is because it bores you…again….you guys say we are arrogant but this sounds pretty arrogant to me…You might not LIKE our style because it bores you..but there is nothing wrong with it. And if a good E fighter is effective against you and you get killed or its boring to you..that’s your problem. Don’t ask other people to change their game for you.
If you think its just pointing your nose up and hitting WEP then you don’t know much about E Fighting, instead of taking that attitude I would probably look towards myself and see how I could get better, If I didn’t want to E fight I would try and see how I can cut a corner to force the stall fight or turn fight that I want or excel at. Its about making the opponent fight your fight and not the other way around.
I challenge you to find one post were anyone of us says we are masters of AH in ANY aspect. You won’t find it.
Haven’t you noticed that the only videos posted are of your squad and maybe a few other individuals..haven’t you also noticed that these people go out of their way to point it out to us how much we suck because we fly This plane or fight this way? Not everyone winds up on YouTube with belittling comments..just the folks that deserve it. We have had MANY friendly fights vs all types of people..none of them are on YouTube.
The behavior irritates those who let it irritate them, and you and your squad are not “everyone”. Some people agree. Some don't care, some disagree.
You dueled Skyyr yourself and not all the fights were pure Energy fights, you still lost resoundingly. A lot of the films, especially the compilations and montages show a lot of overshooting and defensive rolling scissors..if you don’t see that because your hate is blinding you that’s your problem..again.
We understand that defensive maneuvering is an important skill to have but we don’t see it as the BEST skill to have, the best skill to have is the one that never puts you in a position to be defensive if you don’t have to be. Its about killing the other guy..that’s the final objective of the game anyway.
We can turn and burn all day while messing around in the DA and have a ball. But if we are going to be in the MA or DA (formal duels) we are going to use every advantage we can to win. Because that’s what is fun to us. If you don’t like it..thats your problem.
We are not asking you to fly better planes or chose a certain flight style…that’s your choice and you live with the results.
And, no, we don’t want you to be friendly, quite the contrary, we thrive and enjoy animosity and competition.
-
In psychological terms, it's called "Little man syndrome", whereas the person uses the bigger better plane, and does ONLY what gets them "wins"(not unlike the winning that Charlie Sheen did).
I drive a mini-van, I must be the realest man evar...
I totally use this game to make me feel like less of a man and I fly less challenging planes because my real life maniless is so epic...all because I drive a minivan... :rofl
You can't possibly be serious lolol..
-
I was trying not to throw up a wall of text; exuse me for doing this.
It is more entertaining for YOU, doesn’t mean it is for other people. There are also 2 places to have this happen, in the MA, we tend to avoid turn fighting because we want to kill as many as possible as effectively as possible..that’s what WE find entertaining, but we don’t tell other people how much they suck because they turn fight, we tell them its ineffective vs E Fighting and its less optimal in a multiple target setting, because well, it is..
Faulthy logic there, i have never seen You personally belittling people, unlike some of your squaddies, including the CO. Your words would be true if you were saying "I" instead of "we".
Dont let me wrong, i have won the last October's fighter tour only flying the D9, and i was doing all the energy-fighting stuff, but once i had the chance to do some turny stuff in an 1v1, ask anyone how i was flying the D9.
Where we come from we don’t make fun of people because they killed us using a particular flight style or plane, we just simply up something equal or fly differently and try to get even. The end result is all that matters to us. A lot of people here do a lot of whining because they got beat instead of looking in the mirror and saying “how can I get better”.
How i can get better? No way i can get any better, will only get worse with the time, reached my personal limits a long time ago. Back to the topic, it does not change the fact that i have found our duels to be a bit boring. They were not "bad", just boring, when all the fights were pretty much the same. Varietas delectat, the wise people say. Some E-fighting in one fight then some turny stuff in an other would have been much better for "my" taste. Again, i do not care about the results.
It is more entertaining for YOU, doesn’t mean it is for other people. In the MA, we tend to avoid turn fighting because we want to kill as many as possible as effectively as possible..that’s what WE find entertaining, but we don’t tell

Hey stop for a minute... did i say anything wrong about your flying when we were in that private arena? I dont think so. Fought your fight, won some, lost some, but got bored because all the fights were the same and left you with Krup. It does not change the fact that i found that if you were forced to fight my fight, you would have been dead very quickly. And? Who cares? Are you belittling people like your CO does? No? Then whats the question?
If you think its just pointing your nose up and hitting WEP then you don’t know much about E Fighting, instead of taking that attitude I would probably look towards myself and see how I could get better, If I didn’t want to E fight I would try and see how I can cut a corner to force the stall fight or turn fight that I want or excel at. Do you think i know nothing about energy-fighting? D9 - nuff said. By the way, do you know what knife-fighting is about? check this out. http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,329313.0.html
Im curious about your opinion about this film, what i was doing wrong and right in the said fight. Thanks in advance.
I challenge you to find one post were anyone of us says we are masters of AH in ANY aspect. You won’t find it.
Skyyr's youtube channel, any video. Can i get my beer?
The behavior irritates those who let it irritate them, and you and your squad are not “everyone”. Some people agree. Some don't care, some disagree.
You dueled Skyyr yourself and not all the fights were pure Energy fights, you still lost resoundingly. A lot of the films, especially the compilations and montages show a lot of overshooting and defensive rolling scissors..if you don’t see that because your hate is blinding you that’s your problem..again.
It does not change the fact that trying to irritate people is pure bad willing and is not considered as a respectable human behaviour, at least where i live it isnt.
Did skyr show you those flims when he lost though? Once we were co-E, he lost in the scissors, reversal attempts and stuff you have listed. And? What does this prove to you or me? Also, me hating? Seriously, im not 16 any more, how could i hate for example you when i dont even know who you are? If i were hating you, then i wasnt talking to you in this genre, withouth f-bombs or j-words. Please consider this and do not be a paranoid.
We understand that defensive maneuvering is an important skill to have but we don’t see it as the BEST skill to have, the best skill to have is the one that never puts you in a position to be defensive if you don’t have to be. Its about killing the other guy..that’s the final objective of the game anyway.
Uhm... what if thats not true? What if some other people have fun in actual skirmishing insead of cherrying, BnZing, roping? Again, check out the topic i have posted above: the best and most fun fight i have ever had in this game.
We are not asking you to fly better planes or chose a certain flight style…that’s your choice and you live with the results.
And, no, we don’t want you to be friendly, quite the contrary, we thrive and enjoy animosity and competition.
Did i ask you to choose an other aircraft? Did i ask you to circle jerk on the deck til i can finally kill you? I dont think so. Only gave voice to my opinion that the fighting style you have showed in our duels were pretty much one-dimensional, therefore it started to bore me after a while. Also have stated that those fights werent bad at all, haven't i?
Look, there is one part of the playerbase who have earned everyone's respect through the years. Not only with the flying style they have showed but also with the human behaviour they gave to the community. Let me throw up some names, only for the example: Greebo, Delirium, Soulyss, Junky, TC, Pervert, Nrshida etc etc. Belive me, those people never ever act like what you favorise in your CO. Also they CAN fly for sure.
"I" ("we", my kind of people) think that that is the way this games is meant to be played.
Please forgive me for my poor english skills and the typos. Im not native english.

Did skyr show you those flims when he lost though? Once we were co-E, he lost in the scissors, reversal attempts and stuff you have listed.
Our duels are public, and I've never made any attempt to edit or otherwise hide the few losses that did occur. The entire fight is completely unedited, final score: 8-4.
In case you assumed we edited the fights, please see here - I can assure you we did not:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAPV1Cq9bM0
To address your statements -
Fight #1 was six-minute long pure turnfight
Fight #3 showcases a kill where I reversed and won a flat scissors with a vertical offset
Fight #8 shows me reversing and killing you, despite you having a 34mph advantage on the merge and me suffering a one-way collision
I was also slower than you on every merge, except for duel numbers #10 (I had a 5mph advantage) and #11 (I had a 6mph advantage), both of which were Spitfire 8 duels.
So with that, why you keep stating that we can't win when forced to turn or play an angles game is beyond me. The above shows that to be false.
We are here to play the game the way we enjoy playing it. We don't expect others to play our way, nor are we going to accommodate others' requests to play their way. We are not here to make the game fun for others, nor are we concerned if our playstyle is boring to our opponents. We are here to win, as showcased above.

So an one-way collsision counts as a legit and mighty victory in a turnfight.
Or a 8 mins circle jerks is an awesome turnfight.
Mmmmkay. What are you talking about?
-
I think the problem is that people let their emotions affect their memory, causing it to become selective. That's why YouTube is a beautiful thing..
-
Let me give voice to one more thought, then i finish this.
Skyr have stated that i am not friendly by nature.
Is he friendly, by nature?
If not, isnt it called "hypocricy" as its best?
Outta here.
-
So an one-way collsision counts as a legit and mighty victory in a turnfight.
If I collide with you (but you do not collide with me) making me the only one that takes damage, after merging with a 34mph speed disadvantage, that completely negates the "cannot win from a disadvantage" argument.
Or a 8 mins circle jerks is an awesome turnfight.
You stated that we could not turnfight - that fight is nothing but a six-minute long pure turnfight. Again, this negates your argument.
Mmmmkay. What are you talking about?
I was attempting to respectfully reply to your statements with objective proof to the contrary.

I predict 12 pages.

Surprisingly, aside from some comments made by the OP and one of his cohorts, this thread has remained rather respectful. I actually quite enjoy debates such as these.

So does this mean you'll let me oil you up before your match with any one of the Muppets? :x
300 isn't an accurate representation because it didn't show the Spartans pre-battle Orgies.
:lol
Um....No. :P
The Spartans did not have a pre battle orgy (or if they did it did not survive into the historical record). They did spend time before the last stand combing their hair and grooming themselves. ...

Really?
Please feel free to look at my tour stats for the past year. While I admit I do fly a Temp once in a while....I spend a significant portion of my time in a 110G....certaindy NOT uber at anything except for having a lot of cannons.
And while we are on the subject of "rides"....since when is it the Muppets fly only early or mid war rides? Other than Triton and Pepprr....the only damn rides I ever see most of them in are Ki84s, N1k2s, LAs and 152s....none of which I would characterize as "handicapped". Oh...and don't forget the 262s they show up in during huge furballs whice Kappa claims they ONLY do when they are outnumbered....which is pure BS. Believe me...I support their right to fly whatever and whenever they wish...just be honest about it rather than try to paint an inaccurate picture.

They all got naked and rubbed oil on each other wtf do you think happens after that? Also remember that these guys live in male only barracks until their like 60.
-
BTW Violator....I tend to disagree with Skyyr and Kruel on some subjects....and yes, I agree with you that plane choice does matter in this game.
Let me know if you ever want to try your hand at some other games....that's a honest oand friendly offer. I think you'd enjoy it. :)

Teh Spartans at Thermopylae are largely overrated! :old:

False,
I fly the 109s and F4Us regularly. Which just so happen to be 2 of the hardest series in the game to be successful in in the Late War. You can't out dive planes in the 109s and its difficult to out run planes in both series. The F4U has terrible acceleration and when fighting can be easy to pick and catch in furballs if the F4U tries to extend. Staying fast in both the F4U and 109s is also a challenge.
Ive been practising the 152 to work on my E game to fight yall. As you can see in the MA this month (which is a wash for me) the TA was still my best plane. Pretty easy to fly and pick in BnZ planes, this skill level for that plane is minimal.
-

Now that I finally have a good computer, I can maybe try DCS. But finding the time to play and learn is difficult these days. I get about an hour after work to play and if I'm lucky might get a couple of hours on the weekend.
Been playing a bit of BF4 though. But now that in have a good system I can try other games now.
-
I wouldn't say the 152 requires minimal skill, at least for BnZing it doesn't. There are times when you're jumped by high cons and have no other option to fight is the time you realize that it takes much skill to be an effective at some other form of low-speed fighting against the plan rest we have here, most having a low-speed advantage over the 152.
Now you may be thinking that in that situation you should keep your speed but honestly it never always ends like that where you can keep your speed at a point where it makes it easier for you to fight them. That or I still have much to learn which I think I do.

Generally in a 152, you can extend to about 800 feet and literally be able to rope or stall out almost any plane with equal E states. Even in multiple over shoots the plane can still hold E long enough to out climb the opponent.
Yeah getting jumped by hi con's In a 152 is tough. Plus that tail stall in the scissors is just nasty. It's a plane that really needs to stay above 15K or being at least 370> mph to be very successful in the pick, BnZ aspect. At 5K it can get a way from most planes. So really the key is to not get slow on the deck, or climb up early in the furball and get picked by a higher con.
-
So your calling the 109 hard and the 152 easy... :headscratch:
Considering the 152 use to be a perk plane - yes.
The K4 is close. But you can't dive in it. And the 152 is easier to aim and still holds E better in the vert climb.
Being able to extend away and run out of trouble is highly favored. As we can see by our E enthusiest here.
In all the other 109s, the only chance you have vs the 152 is to pounce on them and pick them if they are lower than you. Or reverse the TA 152 and pop them as they are going up for the rope.
-
So your calling the 109 hard and the 152 easy... :headscratch:
In the 109s you generally have less options.

That's true though it often gets boring for me or the guy engaging me has more E and I'll just die if I try to rope, leaving me with options of a quick reversal or to get into a rolling scissors or something like that which that thing just sucks in.

You just said F4U's are hard to fly. I have heard it all.
I fly circles around people in the CHog, the F4U1C. . . . the C MODEL . . . . the one with the cannons. . .
It's perked that doesn't count?
F4U1A/F4U1D are just as easy to fly as a CHog, it just takes minimal ammo with the CHog cannon. I won't miss in a CHog.
I connect in the AHog and DHog just not enough to down you in a single snapshot; it may prolong the fight but if I am saddled in a F4U whatever it is you may be in, you aren't getting away. The F4U is so damn easy to fly.
The 109's are the same way, so easy to fly once you learn the torque and what not. My aim in the 109's are just terrible which is why I don't fly them all the time but the ability to get behind the enemy is easy.
I have flown long enough to know how to fly every plane at least semi-decent if not at all. The 152 is one of the few aircraft I just don't seem to ever want to fly simply because it doesn't do what it is told to do. I just don't think its that easy to fly.
I can't believe you said the F4U/109 is harder to fly than the 152.

I often find its full potential down low when people are trying to fight you in the vertical. Try flying with 25% fuel and a drop tank. Drop the tank when you find someone to play with and you will be suprised with what you can do :)
You don't see experienced pilots (there are not many... And by not many I mean next to none) dive through furballs at 370>mph all the time. It's hanging on the edge, tricking people into thinking they can keep up with you, killing them before they can escape is what's successful. The key to surviving all that is knowing the right time to leave... If that's your thing. Aren't going to get too many kills hovering around at 15k, although it is one of the best up there.

Yes, but what happens when you get into a furball and then all the sudden 3 high LAs and a 190 come in. You cannot get away with out performing countless reversals in the defensive and then killing them. The 109s and F4Us are great defensive planes and are good 1v1 planes if the opponent doesn't start with high E advantage and keep it. It is much easier to stay fast in a 152 and get back to alttitude after you drop. You can escape the fight. In a F4U or 109 escaping from multiple con's it is very difficult because you can't extend away.
-
I can't believe you said the F4U/109 is harder to fly than the 152.
It depends on how they're flown.

But what is your criteria for a hard to fly plane? Something that can't extend? That's where I think we have different opinions.
This goes back to the :neener: slow planes are best planes mindset doesn't it :neener:
-
False,
I fly the 109s and F4Us regularly.
False for you.
-
But what is your criteria for a hard to fly plane? Something that can't extend? That's where I think we have different opinions.
This goes back to the :neener: slow planes are best planes mindset doesn't it :neener:
Actually, it comes down to excuses. If you fly a slow plane and die, you can claim "it's because my plane was slow, so it's not my fault I lost!" If you fly that same slow plane (one that excels at angles fighting and/or climbing turns) and win, you then get to claim you're superior for winning in a plane that shouldn't have normally won. It's flawed thinking, but several seem to subscribe to it.
Here's where the argument falls apart: When a good pilot encounters your said slow plane and E-fights you (as they should) and beats you, pilots with the above mindset then complain that it didn't take skill; however, their bragging rights, had they won, come from the fact that they're flying a plane that shouldn't be able to win to begin with. In other words, they're complaining about the very aspect of their gaming approach that they would also use to brag with. That's called "hypocrisy."
Logically, this mindset and the produced arguments are weightless and flawed.
-
Why is it then.. And correct me if I'm wrong here, the top 6 pilots in the game all fly and have their most kills in the fastest planes in the game (excluding maybe Messiah)?
There must be some correlation here...
I have been very successful with the F4Us and score with them in the past, so it can be achieved. It's just keeping the F4U in a safe position during a furball is much more difficult, and of course when you out turn a plane like the p51, that P51 simply extends away do to lack of F4U exceleration. Ive seen it happen soooo many times.
But what I am saying here is why do these players choose to fly easy run away and pick planes, instead of flying a 109g2 and achieving the same score.
Obviously the faster planes are easier to achieve higher kills and scores. Therefore, making that plane easier to be successful in if the pilot has a clue about what they are doing.
-

The Ta-152 is not one of the "fastest" planes in the game; the Ta-152 is slower than the K4 you mentioned that requires more supposed "skill." Two of the top six pilots have this as their primary aircraft, and another one of them (myself) have it as one of my top 3 rides.
The Ta is slower than the P-51D, 109G-14, 109K-4, LA-7, 190D-9, F4U-4, Tempest, and so on.

(It doesn't take as much skill!!)
Logically, this mindset and the produced arguments are weightless and flawed.
The logic is not flawed. That is how this game and air combat works. Slower planes have a disadvantage, using speed and E moves while originally having more speed and E creates an easier kill setup. Sure it takes skill, but not as much skill as being able to reverse and get the kill in a slower plane vs the high E/alt aircraft. I don't understand how you don't understand that.
The logic is not flawwed.
-
The problem is that these are all subjective arguments, which can't be won...our opinions on which planes are Harder or easier to fly are just that, opinions.
This is why I don't take plane choice into account in regards to judging pilot skill as much as I do with flight style. This is also subjective (opinion) however.
This is why objective points like..who killed who more? Who won the duel? Are not opinion based but they are objective facts...This is why we don't give much importance to the fight when only the end result is what matters...
I might like a particular basketball team for their style of play, or the fact that they shot a heavier ball than their opponents, but at the end of the day the scoreboard says who won the game and who the best team was..
TLDR: Numbers are objective and instead of having some opinion based fashion to determine skill, just use numbers, because...they never lie ;)

See that is where the CHog comes in handy, multi v 1. You give ANY shot within 800 yards and you might as well bail; the cannon are so effective up to 800 yards its so hard to put myself in the situation of a long 3 v 1 or even 4 v 1.
Because a plane is faster that doesn't make it easier to fly and if that is your main argument in this debate then I end my argument here.

 hot air I tell you...
:rofl
Yes.....yep....nothing I say is true! Oh wait.....what's this?
* looks at Skyrock's tour stats *
How interesting.... the majority of your kills this month were in Tempests, LAs and Typhoons! Those sure are some fast rides, Skyrocket! You certainly had kills in less capable rides....P47 D11, P47 M, and F4U-1 are also top rides for you...but none of them are slouch rides.
What's this? No P40s? P39s? Not even a run in a 110 or 410? Oh dear.
Maybe we should start calling you SkyRocky?! :rofl

Well yeah nice guns that can do damage from an extending oppenent at D800 is kind of contradicting the point. That be the only reason the plane is perked. Good luck achieving that success in a 50 cal model. The F4U4 is out of the question.
I just don't get it. You all fly the fastest planes to achieve high scores yet you don't think it is because of the fast planes that you achieve high scores.
See now, that is false logic.

lol You all? LMAO I just admitted to flying the CHog majority of the time which you JUST stated was slow. I am so confused. I only have like 5 perks because I lose CHogs left and right. I think my next go to ride just because it is free is the N1K, then the Ki84, then the Spit 9/109G6. I am rarely in a plane that is fast and if I am it is because Poison/Anarchy has forced me to fly it.
Achieve high score? I achieve a high attack score because attack score is so easy to achieve. My fighter score is far from high (low). Fighter score is achieved by those who have good SA, point blank.
Poisons situational awareness is great although I envy it, it is. I just don't have the patience he has.
Your logic is false, specially your logic about score.

The Ta is slower than the P-51D, 109G-14, 109K-4, LA-7, 190D-9, F4U-4, Tempest, and so on.
The 51 has 8-9mph on the 152 with WEP engaged on the deck, but that advantage turns into a deficit after 5 minutes when the Pony runs out of go fast juice and the TA still has money in the bank. The 152 ain't THE fastest, but it's not slow enough to matter.
-

I'm not saying its the fastest plane in the game, just one of them. And above 5k they are not, but I don't have the charts to look at right now, and you don't want to be below 5k in a 152. The way the TA can use E in vert climb situations makes it a "fast plane"
-
I was not talking about your score.
And you just admitted that you die a lot because its a slow plane. The for proving my point.
-
My tour stats, excuse the lack of kills I haven't flown much.
I flew a tempest to a V10 on that weird looking map to kill the incoming stream of bombers from A9.
The LA7 sortie was my girlfriend.
Spit VIII 27 Kills
F4U1C 19 Kills
N1K2 15 Kills
109K-4 7 Kills
Ki-84 7 Kills
109G-14 7 Kills
P38L 6 Kills
109G-6 5 Kills
Tempest 5 Kills
LA-7 4 Kills
P38J 2 Kills
I don't think I fly fast planes, well I don't consider these planes fast.
-

Please quote where I said I died because it was a slow plane. I said I only have 5 perks because I lose CHogs left and right.
I usually lose them to stupid stuff that is completely my fault LIKE running into the twin 5 inch on the CV deck, running out of fuel and not realizing it, etc etc.
I've died in the CHog 6 times. I have 19 kills in it, that's a 3 KD Violator.
-
The way the TA can use E in vert climb situations makes it a "fast plane"
I'm not sure where you got your information, but no, it does not. Being able to "use E in a vert climb" simply makes it a plane that can use the vertical well. Being able to use the vertical does not in any way make a plane a "fast" plane. Using that logic, every model of Spitfire would also qualify as a "fast plane."
-

I meant to imply the top 6 fighters in rank, Ghost. You have me misunderstood. I wasn't refering to you with that comment.
-
If you use speed vs people who fly slower planes, then yes you should win, the problem is that you are insinuating that because someone beats you while you were flying a slow plane that some how takes away from their skill because YOU choose to fly a slow plane..because faster planes are easier. They did what they were supposed to do, quit whining and up something that will let you get even, if you can. If that doesn't settle it then go to the DA.....
I don't get to choose what(and how many) I am going to fight when I roll a sortie so I take something I feel will give me the best chance to win...This is the natural thing to do when playing a "war" game.
The DA is a whole.different story..
-
I think HTC should disable all airplanes except the CHOG. :devil

Yes, but I wasn't referring to every plane, I was referring to the TA152. Even when the plane isn't going fast, it can still utilize the vert like if it was going fast. Typically, it can gain speed with ecceleration at D800 and rope almost any plane. You cannot tell me it's not a fast plane.
The Nik is a slow plane but it uses the vert climb well.

Yes which is why I am going to fly the tempest as timidly and as Eee as possible next tour.
Again, I'm not whinning, I just don't think it's right to brag about being good in the MA while having to fly the fastest planes in the game to achieve that. Its great you guys can get kills or W/E but flaunting that in noob easy to catch and kill rides doesn't show much to anyone.
I never said any of you were unskilled or lack abilities.
I just think those planes are easy mode and lame that damped the amount of skill it takes to be successful. I'd love to see if many of you in the top 6 can pull off the same scores flying a 109g2..
-
If everyone flew the same plane in a LWMA setting 200 would be so quiet without anyone blaming someone else for making them fly a crappy plane.
The guy with the knife in the gunfight usually only wins in the movies.
IRL he gets his top blown off in the first 3 seconds..
Effectively what you are saying is that we should all bring knives to the gun fight...to find out who wins the gunfight with..a.. knife??
Now everyone has knives instead of guns then it becomes a knife fight until one brave soul says, "you are only good if you win this knife fight with a Spork" the vicious cycle continues until we are all trying to kill each other with wet noodles.
F that..I'm bringing my Barret 50 cal to the gunfight, if you can't kill me using your Spork, that's your problem..

Sometimes the sheer audacity of bringing the knife to the gunfight with ultimate confidence in one's own abilities pays a dividend that is worth many times more than repeatedly winning with the biggest gun.
Key phrase 'ultimate confidence in one's own abilities'. This part is why you guys just don't get it, you don't have that important belief in yourself.

Killing a brewster or a 109E or a P40 does not make me go :O at their bravery in a virtual flight sim, I kill them, and move on to the next victim

I do just fine, thank you very much.
As for the rest....since we are on the subject....why don't you "less ride means more skill" guys accept a challenge....put down your uber turnfighters for a tour? No Spits, Ki84s, bf109K or Fs, Nikis or F4Us. Fly only P40s, P39s. ..dog rides. Show everyone that important belief and superior skill by actually flying the more challenging planes rather than simply talking about it.
Just sayin'! :old:

Timid is not E fighting..remember that you need at least 8 KPH, less than 10 deaths and/or captures and.I will say 200 kills , come on show me how easy it is..
I don't understand why you guys think this is bragging, you and AOM are the subjects of many videos because you put yourself there with your mouth..all the quotes in "A whole lotta Muppets" came from your guys, we didn't make you type them! You just need to eat your words....find one post were we specially say "you won't last 2 seconds in the DA with me in any plane" you claimed victory before you had it and it back fired..
Now you are making excuses as to why you lose in the MA? Plane choice?
You might not be impressed, that's your OPINION.
The end result is that we try and kill as many as we can, we get 1000 kills then we don't care who it was and what they were flying..

What, because he won one duel that I wasn't even remotely serious about 3am, I thought we were just trying to have fun, no way could I have taken that fight seriously. Cool, I'm sure the majority of most AH could have beat me that night. If I was even fighting me id have known I wasnt up to my best performance standards by any means, and not takin it as a litteral serious fight. Hopefully we can have a rematch, but if that's his highest honor than you are kidding yourselves.
As far as the MA goes, I fly planes that I don't have to be 100% in the advantage to win. Like your squad does.
I'm not complaining about it. I was mearly making a comment that I was hoping Skyyr would auger that night. He pulled out the kill for a couple of reasons. I had to dodge another 190D twice and my F4U1 didn't have the ability to climb high enough during the reversals with his E advantage. Not complaining or anything. It was a kill..good for him...
I've just played for so long that I don't chose to fly planes with the highest advanatges anymore. I mean I do some, but not even 25% of the time. I like the challenge, after years of playing, flying easy mode planes doesn't bring a challenge. Kills are just kills. Anyone can get them. Making it harder for me to get kills makes it more interesting, and getting the kill by flying a harder plane is much more rewarded than simply just getting kills. But then again, I remember when I first started too, I had the same mentality.

But when you stroll in with all the confidence in the world and get stomped then you can't whine that more people don't have knives!
Herein lies the problem, The ego that fuels that ultimate confidence gets hurt when they don't win now instead of saying.."maybe I'll bring a back up gun, along with my knife to this gun fight" they say :
"Wahhh, I only lost because I brought a knife and you suck because you brought a gun....to a gunfight".

Batfink just gave out a pearl of wisdom and you tool sheds are arguing about it. I will mash the dislike button for this.
Measure skill any way you want, but don't give me this BS about energy fighting being for the more more experienced and skilled. It's about managing your energy better than your opponents, which takes BFM, average situational awareness, and enough seat time to judge your opponents energy better than he can judge yours. A useful skill set, no doubt, but can it alone give us cartoon pilot excellence? No.
-
No your squad should do that and my squad will fly the uber planes and then you will see our point and we will see yours, how about that.
We aren't the ones that are sooo good that we need to fly early war planes to get a challenge...That's a choice YOU make..not my problem.
-
This part is why you guys just don't get it, you don't have that important belief in yourself.
Not at all; we simply enjoy standing over the corpses of those who "believed in themselves." They can have their ideals, we'll take the win.
-
I really do thank y'all for giving me something to do at work though with this debate. God if I could only actually play the game right now lol

But what you are implying is that because you need the challenge that we should respect the fact that you are so good that you need the challenge therefore if we kill you it doesn't really count because you were just trying to challenge yourself?
Then you say that because we chose not to challenge ourselves in the same way that you choose to do so, makes us worse, or you better? Gives you the right to say what we do is easy, because your challenge to yourself went sideways? That's ludicrous.
Keep it simple and pragmatic ;) whomever wins, wins.
If you lose, adjust your tactics so you can win.
End of story.

P.S. - Arguing with the pearl won't make it less true.
:salute
You can't argue an opinion..
we can have animosity and competition ..
Just saying if you get beat, be humble about it and quit making dumb excuses.
I was drunk
I was rusty
I flew a bad plane to challenge myself even though you won
Your flight style bores me even though you won
Your wins don't really count I was playing with an eyepatch and one hand tied behind my back, but I only mentioned it after you won, again...

It was never true to begin with, unless your only combat sim experience is AH. Actually, scratch that - it was never true at all.
Please list your other flight sim experience in your next post. References are strongly encouraged. While we're at it, give me all those quotes Shaw wrote about E fighting being the one true tell of a champion pilot. Perhaps make another thread so we can discuss this without messing up this thread. Thanks in advance.

That's step one. Now just think about it. Take your time. If it hurts a little at first that just means you're getting it.

Ok. You and I now have mutual animosity. I really don't like you now. The next time I shoot you down... no matter the circumstances, I want a snappy salute from you. I don't wanna hear any excuses about any green guys around, how much E I had, etc. If not, you can take your humility line, ball it up real tight...

Please highlighted where we stated, per your quote, E fighting was the "one true tell of a champion pilot."

Syntax noob. lol
Don't fence with me. I invented internet fencing. Put forth your Shaw quotes or speak of them no more.
