Title: I have done dumb things to lose 262 points...

I have never been above 700 perkies in fighters because of my ignorance in the 262.
The very first one I lost I was relatively new. Had JUST enough points and started rolling down the runway (BOOM = tower). Lesson learned, up further away and have SA..
I have learned to NOT go into a HO situation. Again, I am nosing to the plane, 2.0 to 1.8 K I see tracers. I laugh to myself a little, nose down a touch and wind up in the tower...
I have learned that approaching bombers from behind is BAD!
Flying into a cluster of 15 to 20 sets of B17swill vaporize you quickly.
I learned to NEVER attempt to de-ack a V base in a 262. Ever...
I learned that wirbles actually CAN get a good shot on you regardless of how fast you are going. There are actually good people that know how to LEAD a plane...
So I am struggling to keep an amount of perkies up so I can up the occasional 262.
I defended a V base being overwhelmed and actually saved the base. I knocked down 3 planes and an M3. One of my engines get oiled so I RTB. A TA152 comes diving in and starts the chase. I finally get to a point that I am slowly pulling away on one engine and JUST outside my DAR with some squaddies upping to defend so I can attempt to land. The 190 chased me over 3 sectors.
I get discoed. When I finally get back in it said I was shot down by AI. When I got discoed my plane leveled and surely dropped down in speed allowing the 190 to run me down. When I returned I was in the tower and less the 160 to 180 perkies I took to up the plane.
Question about this, Had I stayed logged off would it have timed out like I never took the flight and give me back my perkies? Just curious!
Any other good lessons learned in the 262?

You can easily avoid cons diving on you from any altitude by turning a few degrees left or right across the enemy's nose. When they break to head into you reverse your turn to the opposite direction to get the enemy at your six . Most don't know how to intercept your flight path and will lose you in this process.

Go into mid war and fight the Knight Horde. Sometimes the perk bonus is up to 5.0

its really dumb but it works well...... find a 49th mission and then ram 49Merlins bombers with your 262

After a disco I think you have 5 minutes to log back in to resume flight. Staying logged off doesn't erase the sortie.
Also, A.I. are all entry-level French pilots.

I learned that the rudder isn't as bad as most make it to be, after I compressed and ripped the wing tips off my 262. :bhead I landed, gears down, quite well. :D

well whenever I feel like losing perks I just up at 262, I don't fly too much anymore but the last two sorties I had with the 262 the first one consisted of me sitting on the runway with my squad can accidentally hit the trigger and kill shot myself. the second one I was diving on a bomber and got one engine got hit and fire insude and I exploded. I don't think I'll fly it to 262 for a while lol

Chasing enemy plane on the deck into carrier ack...more than once always same result. 5" gunner even pm'd me once asking "what were you thinking?".
Retracting flaps too soon on climb-out after re-arm and hitting a tree or the ground.
When pilot wounded you only have so many blackouts before tower. Sometimes it's better to go for a ditch and only lose 1/2 those perks. Something I always seem to forget.

I get bored easily and can always get more perks...that being said ive deacked many of bases with 262s some I even lived to tell about. Ive vulched fully operational bases with a 262, TnBed in Cv ack (i think i have video of that not too sure though) ummm yea any dumb idea you can get with a 262 ive done it over the 12 years ive played lol

Created a U-262 last night because the ki67s were on the deck. I came down nice and slow to a couple thousand feet, then an intercept path. I thought it was a nice gentle dive but it became a slightly angled dart, couldn't trim out or anything, and I went into the drink just at the bombers. It was a nice change, I usually auger into a hill.

The other day I upped 262 the other day when I heard a call for help from a friendly being chased down by a P-38. They are on the deck at high Speed headed away so I went full throttle and nosed down slightly in their direction. I got to tree top level at about 550+mph and very carefully used the trim control to level her out behind the P-38 at 3k. after a short time I was right up on him. The friendy was in front and smokingby down desperate for a clear. I lined up the p-38 and Fired all 4 30mm cannons. The 38 exploded into a million parts and as I flew through aftermath my right wing dissapeared. I thought I had collided with his wreckage but as I read the system message it said: You have shot yourself one time. some of my taters went past the P-38 and hit the friendly. Doh!!

My first ever 262 run was a SlipKnoT G3MF fighter sweep. Boy those are fun. Anyways it was SlipKnoT, Biggamer, Alpha81, NAVCAD, Jdog, wagger and I. We went to some base and intercepted several sets of bombers and fighters and knocking down everything that came within sight. We all have anywheres from 2-4 kills and are rtb. Mind you, this was my first 262 sortie and I had the landing gear ripped off for some reason. Anyways we are all coming in to land and I'm getting ready to make a belly landing. I come in, I have a great approach, I begin my dive and get ready to put her down. Needless to say I didn't watch my airspeed and as soon as I touched the ground I found myself in the tower.

My favorite 262 kill was in a Lancaster. He swooped up under me for the belly kill, missed and topped out 400 off my top gun. There he was just hanging there... He didn't return the <S> :devil

Most fun to be had in a 262 is when one takes off never expecting to make it back, if your not worried about perkies the jet is great entertainment.

I've got about 5K fighter perks I'd give you some if I could. Maybe every now and then we could gift a 262 flight to a player.
I don't fly perk rides much to speak of, really never did. And actually as of late have had no time to fly at all.
It kind of surprises me when some long(er) time players tell me how little they have in perks. When I was in Flk4's squad he used to say he had only a few hundred gv perks...that guy loves himself a Panther; there I am sitting with 6K gv perks and I'm a noob to him...

49iforgotwhoitwas, was in my stukas tail gun a pilot killed a 262 on its first pass. I sent him an invite since he was a good luck charm from that day on. the PMs were typical but i bet there was more hatered than usual lol

Back when they had the old strat layout, me and a buddy would go and strafe those down in 262's and fight whatever came out to greet us. RTBing, we both forgot about those pesky trains and were slow to react.... :uhoh

I tend to fly them when ENY makes them more affordable. It also seems to increase the chances of finding boomers. But, for some reason I cannot fathom, it only occurs after the third beer. At that point I have a tendency towards ramming Lancs. Especially if they are AFK on climb out. Twice recently I have been PMed several minutes later with something along the lines of "What U hit me with?". With my lowered inhibitions I reply honestly and receive a hardy TY. And Scca, that sounds familiar. I usually start shutting down at that point due to the aforementioned drinking, so if it was me I simply did not see it it time.

be very careful clearing someones 6 in a 262, espeacially bombers... 1 stray 30mm in your buddy and you are in the tower with an achievement (yes, I have it and have lost two 262s this way). I also never have more than 600 perkies in fighter because of my 262 addiction. I also really only fly 30+eny planes to feed my 262 addiction.
They said I should go to rehab (offline mode); but I said no..no...no!

I have way....to many drunken stories about flying 262s....
Once made Google laugh so hard taking off he crashed his 262 into trees taking off.... I once had to go pee on climb out and came back to watch my 262 ditch into some trees.... once rammed an A6M2 in a furball and crashed to my death; A6m2 flew away fine....Once thought it would be funny to vulch a field and didn't notice the single 37mm ack up; someone got one shot off and scored a hit on my wing LOL. I mostly lost my perks just for the hell of it; I had over 20,000 something fighter perks anyway.
On the plus side - I did land over 20 kills in a scenario in a 262. I once shot down 15 in a single sortie; lost partial of a wing and an engine and managed to climb 6k to land at a base; belly flopping on the runway.. Once managed to take off on a field completely capped; caused three vulchers to auger trying to pick me; ho'd down two C-47's, then ran after the other 3 C-47s with the entire bish army behind me trying to catch me.
I think the Scenario was the best achievement; multiple sorties with over 15 kills each time, it was a blast with topgun; except for having to dogfight Tempest's at 28k.

Latrobe and I decided we would take 262s to TT to hunt GVs and wirblies. Latrobe managed to get a kill then got shot down, I managed to lose half a wing and crash while trying to land. The sad thing is, I took another 262 out to go do the same thing the very next sortie.
...I never did get a kill.

Anyone ever go through a few thousand perks trying to kill tanks by rolling around on the ground trying to sneek up on them?
There was a guy in the 367th that would take B-25's out of the hanger and try to sneak up on tankers; he did have the most kills in a Jeep ill credit him that - funniest kill ever was when he snuck up on LT's Tiger that was camping on a ridge; he drove for a good HOUR to get around the spawn and behind LT's tiger; then ran inside and machine gunned him down.
The whole driving a B-25H around was funny, except for when you clip a tree or two, then it gets old fast. I do believe I have one kill; someone drive a T-34/85 on a runway and i spawned a B-25H right behind him.

First 262 sortie, I had just joined a squadron. I was vectoring to meet up with squadies for an attack, and let's just say that I was not aware of the squad and voice highlight, and had somehow toggled myself into plane type view.
It is not a winning combination.

We were pretty much on our own. The bombers have NO GUNS!!! NONE!!!
I elected to not up formations because we knew the 262s would be out there. I thought in scout mode. Low and behold a pair came streaking by. Then 4 more showed up. Was a squad in the 262s. Can't remember exactly how many.
My ace up the sleeve? I had Biggamer tucked in (hidden) to look like a bomber and was in fact a fighter.
That first and second pass, Biggamer scored x4 262 kills in less than a minute and a half. Was the funniest thing I ever seen!

I remember this... The squadron with the 262's were the CiC of the frame and they selfishly/naturally gave themselves the deuces when they had no idea how to fly them. What's worse they were a newer squadron that joined FSO

Flying at almost top speed and passing a Vbase about 5k away and getting towered by smoker82 in what has to be one of the luckiest 88 hits in AH.
Getting nailed by a crossing shot at TT in CraterMA (I'm not sure the shot was even aimed at me)
Opening fire on a set of B24's and being so close that my own splash damage killed me. (I earned the secret achievement for that)
Trying to takeoff from a CV in the MA and plunking into the water...and getting run over by the CV. (it is possible to take off from a CV btw)

Me a KillerT managed to auger in our 262s trying to kill a C47... I would love to know how many perkies he got for that + a sucessful goon capture mission.

Had one on Saturday morning I believe...
Logged on. Squadie being chased by 2 fighters in his lancs. Got on the runway in mah 262...
Throttle was pulled back so I could lock in brakes for the rev up.
Screen freeze...
Got back to the tower and less 288 perkies...
Seems the "auto flight" took over and pushed me to 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and level flight... In other words, it launched me without my authorization.
Seemingly, AT&T has cost me more fighter perkies than I am comfortable with. :bhead

In an attempt to kill Rook HQ last night, we sent in Flam3out in his 262 to gun and ram, after bombing the hell out of it. He went full cruise missile :rock

No. We then sent the 3 sets of YB-40s in to gunship it down, didn't work. Just before the cruise missile we had a set of Ki-67s smack it, too. That HQ would not die.

I saluted him. I was speechless for a while though. I was going pretty fast sub 1k looking for m3s going to a WF town. I bet I have the video somewhere......
