Hey TC.

Well I stepped into a big pile and was really lucky.  It's the 6.4 litre 392 Hemi with 470 Horsepower.  A 6 speed manual with a .390 posi rear.  20 inchers with Brembo's.  It's actually not Sublime - It is the "Green with Envy" package.  Leather, sunroof, all the goodies inside... I simply can not believe how it pulls.  Insane performance!

The president's of Capital District and Northeast Challenger Clubs car.  A 2011 with only 4,100 miles!  Absolutely like brand new.  He traded in on a 2016 Hellcat and I was the smart and lucky guy at the right place and the right time with my checkbook.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

Beautiful, gorgeous, and I knew you would be back to the MOPAR side!  Well done!!!!   Nothing like a 392, hit the throttle you'll end up in the back seat!

As always, you've had and have great taste!  Welcome back to the Fraternity!!!  BTW you have a 3.92 rear end in that thing.........you'll see it wind out quick!

Join the challenger forums.  Challengerforumz.com   great people there and lots of info...........tell'em Hajo sent ya!

At that forum Stamp there is info on how to get a copy of your build sheet.  You can email from that site anything you wish to know just provide your VIN.

Dodge called me Friday, they sent my build sheet via email.  I also queried how many manufactured my color combo, interior etc.  They said they called me (nice young lady)

because I have 1 of only 36 manufactured.  I did not expect the call.  I forgot to ask them how many were manual as opposed to auto.  They are going to check that also.

Green with envy 392?  Are you kiddin'me?   Wow WTG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   You Stold it!!!!      :aok  :x :rock

And most of all my friend..............you deserve it.

Usually in that order too, Spikes!  Anytime man.

Thanks Hajo - I'll check out that site.  I totally love the car, of course it snowed today and I could not take it out but the few days I've had to drive it have been simply awesome.  That's great about your ride - 1 of 36!  I actually went to look at a B5 shaker RT - but I seen right away it had been damaged.  After a full hour of looking through vettes, ponies and other challengers the salesguy says, "Dave I can tell you won't be happy with any of these - let me show you something we just got in"  Ok!

Was still in the wash bay - I noticed right away what it was but figured it would have some miles on it.  What a lucky break.  Got all the originals and full history etc...4K miles - I couldn't find a blemish anywhere inside or out.  Had to have it.  Glad to have it.  Total beast on the road.  Love it.

Nice find, I truly miss the days of muscle cars.

Technology has really changed the game.

You used to have to work real hard to get 400 plus HP from a car.  Now all you need is a fat stack of green to drop, and regular checks of your oil.

Something for you to  view.  The folks on our forum hold two meets a year.  Meet in the mountains at Gatlinburg and pigeon forge.  The other is the skyline drive cruise held by the good folks in Virginia that are Challenger owners and on our boards.  I attended the 2013 cruise in my SRT which is seen a lot during this video.  If someday you get the time you oughta do this.  The video is fantastic, music is great.  You'll notice in the first part of the film a national parks police cruiser met us soon after we entered the national park.  The
Lady Ranger called just about every Police Officer in the Park.  Hey!  There's forty or more hot rods here!         Enjoy, and do this trip.  Info will be posted in the Forum.

They are all Cobras.  Some are original 65 models, some are new 65 models, and some are copies of the original 65 model.  Then there are those who have eschewed everything except the look (I'll be in this category when I an done).

The reason I say this skuzzy is I've seen some factory fives that looked somewhat like Cobras but didn't have the dimensions or shapes that the originals Cobras have.

My love of the Cobra goes way back, and as one who knows what they originally were and what some replicas have become it disappoints me to say the least.

Some I describe as simply hot rods that somewhat look like Cobras.  Now........were there any Daytona's there?  That is my favorite of all time. (6 being built)

You are referring to the Factory Five "bumblebee" butt.  They finally fixed it.

Yes, there were two Daytona Coupes.  They could easily pass for originals, even though they were kits.  There was even a 66 Ford GT knockoff.  It was so well done, it even had the original gauges.

So you are going for that Pontiac Aztek look on your cobra?  :bolt:

Yes, that is it!  Exactly!

I am horrible about taking pictures.  Most of the time I simply forget to take the camera to the shop.  Finished building all the components for the IRS.  Now working on getting the axles located so I can mount the attachment points to the frame.  This is slow going as I have to sit the body on the frame to get the exact center of the wheel openings.  Also need precise measurements for the axle lenghts so I can get those sent off to get cut and splined.

Also attaching the caliper mounting bracket to the uprights is a bit slow.  Has to be exact.  Building the jig for that is fun.  Spot brake bracket for the parking brake also needs to be attached to the upright.

Went with the red Wilwood calipers (6 piston front, 4 piston rear, 12 inch discs all around).

Got the transmission in the other day (T56 Magnum).

Not really putting a time to it.  I have a long list of things I want to get done during the build.  When the list is done, the car will be done.  There are a couple of custom pieces, for the engine, which are going to take some time.

Hajo - Question: What are you running for tire PSI and do you get 'false readouts' when atmospheric temps drop?

The sun was out today.  A better look at GWE.  Best in sunlight or street lights at night.

On tire pressure I'm thinking 35 lbs. but that is just a guess.  And yes, your tire pressure does drop when you go from moderate to very cold temperatures.

It has happened to me twice when the temperature dropped a wide margin.  It is normal.

Don't guess, what does the door jamb says? On my charger it seems the TMPS comes on around 30psi, comes off at 34PSI. Im pretty sure these values would be in the service manual. If ur tires are not cold, I over inflate by 2psi to compensate for cooling.

Any of you MOPAR guys thinking of a Hellcat?  I recently had the opportunity to play with one (Challenger) on the A-Bahn.  Very fast car.  The driver was a bit reckless and due to that - I backed out and let him go.  It was a German - which surprised me.  It's hard for the every day German to purchase a car like that in Deutschland.

Ammo I was more then thinking about it, I was actually lining up prices.  Then I came to my senses.

First: MSRP is around 59K  Dealers are charging around 80K if not more.

Second: My SRT has more then enough for what I do with it.  I'm not going to the track as I did 45 years ago and race.  At my age those days are over.

I will occasionally line up for a short go on the road but that is the extent of what I will do.  Takes awhile to grow up.  I finally did.

Well...........maybe.

I am.  I am waiting for the HC to get a bit longer in the tooth before I look though.  Frankly this 392 is by far the most thrilling car I have owned.  I love it.  Once you get in the neighborhood of 500HP - in the real world another 200 HP makes little difference.  But - Back in the day I wouldn't stop at a 383 if a 440 was available etc... So yeah...I see myself in a HC in the future.

Watch those Germans Ammo - I hear they are reckless.

Not true Frenchy!  If you care to check in 2014 the Challenger won the T/A series.  Ran at Lime Rock, Laguna Seca etc.  It was heavy enough to beat everything else thrown at it.

I don't know how the Challenger did in the series for 2015.  When I think of it I will check.

:lol Hajo You know you can't come in this forum and BS me about racing . Yeah like a purpose built TA2 tubular frame Challenger has anything to do with your dawg. As Ammo knows, you have to pick your battles. It makes no doubt that the Hellcats and GT500s are only highway predators, but you still have to know what you are racing as the laws of aerodynamics are a pain.

I grew up in the 70s watching road racing. The big V8s trans am cars were exotics for us in France and we all were in love with the big loud V8s, but the reality was they were merely moving chicanes for the lighter European cars. Technology is amazing nowadays and our beloved Muscle Cars can actually turn. Still there is so much more involved, and weight is the big enemy of road racing and so is power as it involves balance. A great example is the Z06 lapping slower than a Nismo GTR. The GTR is heavier, less power and way more weight. But the computer makes it so easy to drive that the driver can exit corners faster with more grip. Corner exit speed is pinnacle, in my little 1,800lbs, 110HP GT6 I could get so much faster out of tight corners than the guy in the mustang with 300HP+ could only catch up half a mile later ... right when he had to slow down again for the next corner.

Anyway, your Challenger is a high 400HP front engine 4000lbs plus cars with a weight repartition of 54/46 and the C/D of a brick. You are like a semi-pro body builder, Ammo with his GT500 (or the Hellcat) is a pro bodybuilder ... but either of you would be foolish to get in an arena against a MMA champ ... aka a road course.  :ahand

Oh?   And the Mustangs and Camaros made no changes to their suspension?  They did also.  You're not talking to someone that doesn't know automobiles.

Frenchy, and I'm not trying to be insulting, I've been into cars a long long time.  I've been pulling engines since Lyndon Johnson was President.

I don't do it anymore.  I  don't have the room.  I'll always give a friend a hand but at 66 years of age I've slowed down somewhat.

I'm enjoying my retirement.

Frenchy,

Dont forget about brakes!!!!!!!!  All go and no whoa isnt a good thing, especially in road racing!  Look at F1,the fastest cars arent in the top 4,it's the cars that can go and whoa that make the top 4!

More time is made up in the brake zone than all the power in the world.  All the fastest guys were late brakers who had good brakes, same went in the old 70's TA racers,CanAm too about the only place it doesnt matter is when you turn left all day....... :D

Now add in aero, weight and a less than ideal chassis and well you get a muscle car......  I do like the MMA reference, the bodybuilder might be great outta the gate but wont have the cardio to go the distance!!! :aok

That said dont get me wrong,I like some good ole muscle cars but I was always more interested in the cars that could turn and might be why I rode bikes more than drove all the sweet rides back in the day.

This GT500 is a beast in a drag race and open straight roads.  While there are several cars, not even considered exotic, that will give it fits in track race, the car is no slouch there either.  I would say its weakest link is its brakes.  They are great for the first lap, but are known to fade quickly.  I personally have not tracked the car but read the forums.

I'll tell you the cars I have big respect for in comparison - three models of Porsche  - mainly those that have additional alphanumeric characters.  I played around with a Cayman GT4 one day and quickly learned that car is no joke.  All the late model 911s are quick and generally do everything a sports car should do very well.  I have played with a couple of GTRs on the Bahn - I walked away from them when the lines started to blur.  I expect hey we're stock.  All the BMW M series are quick - still I can take them. The Audi TtRS is surprisingly fast. I have more respect for it than I do an A8 - by my experiences.  That Hellcat I played with would take an R8 - supposition only.

TBH, my most fun cars are my GT6 and the 124. You rev the crap out of them, drive them balls out in corners without fear of the rear end snapping on you if you look at it wrong. I could never enjoy/relax in the 800HP Z06, even in a straight line. :old:

Buying a hot car doesn't make you a "hot rodder".

Let me know when you want to race from a 200mph roll.

I've hit 192 on MIS and not on a Cape Canaveral runway.  Let me know and I will take you up on that bet.  I was in a hopped up Roush 427r Mustang.   But another fun one as a test driver for Roush, was driving a tuned Challenger SRT8 from Livonia, Michigan to Naples,  FL.   Had a five hour gap until my flight.   The program director asked me if I got on it at all and told him "no".   He grabbed the computer and saw I did not.   He popped the hood and showed me what they did to the engine and said:  "Since you told the truth I want you to get out there for a couple of hours and will take you the airport in plenty of time."

Beautiful GT500 your brother has there!

I was thinking of selling mine (sadly - and I need a truck).  I did a little research and fortunately, a 2014 Shelby holds its value pretty good.

Where exactly are you performing these races which you try to achieve 300 MPH?  What vehicles are you using?  F16?

Ammo, he probably hangs around a shop that prepares car for records in events such as the Texas Mile. Stuff like Performance Power Racing 1,700HP's Ford GT.

I work at performance power.

That GT has 2700hp and is still streetable but the clutch is tricky.
