Well I made it to the arena selection page! Then choose greebo and crash... instant crash after clicking off line arena

For me, this is worse then the previous patch. It runs until the clouds finish building and locks up solid. In the previous patch, I learned to wait until the clouds finished building and then I could launch.
In case it might help, the following is the post I'd prepared for the previous patch:
Beta 18 DX9 Download the patch and rebooted my PC as is my habit.
I looked for the different versions under the Win7 start button, 9 or 11 but being impatient, I launched from my desktop shortcut thinking I would see a clue as to which I was running. I didn't see anything to suggest which one I was in, until later. I finally found ahbeta11.exe in my AH folder but haven't tried it.
1st try The first thing I noticed is that my FOV changed back to the default. Then, a B17 was my ride in the hanger. It wasn't the last ride I had before the patch. When I tried to launch from the Hanger, the game crashed silently, no message whatsoever. 2nd try I restarted the game and after confirming a P51 in the hanger I launched from the Tower. The game worked fine for a few moments, until I toggled my Logitech headset on and it immediately locked up so I toggled the headset off. Funny, Alt Tab worked but the headset sound came back on and the game displayed in a window. Eventually I was forced to end with the Task Manager. Again, no error messages on screen. 3rd try Headset off. Looked again for the version. it's in RED but I think I can see DX9. 3 people in the arena so I looked to see who before launching. Hard lock on the runway. When trying to End Task, I ended up with two more prgms running, End Program - Aces High III. Saved my work and rebooted the PC. 4th try Sometimes knowing what worked is helpful? Ran game, left everything untouched until the clouds finished building in. Launched a P51 to the field on Auto Takeoff and didn't touch anything until 3k alt. After that it worked normally, at least up to the point I quit.

Patch 19 (DX9 ver) works now on my 32 bit XP system. Frame rates are essentially the same as Patch 15. I noticed one oddity: lighting of the ground texture with detail not disabled appears seriously wrong. It is sometimes almost totally black despite the sun being directly overhead; almost as if sine was used instead of cosine (ref surf normal). With detail disabled it looks OK.
One time on totally exiting the game the screen still had the AH view (ie clipboard, view out the tower) instead of restoring my desktop.

I could not exit from the tower, tried twice then game finally crashed.
Also.....Sun has three lines intersecting in the middle of the Sun. Sun is not a round form.

Ran Patch Updater 17 to 19.....all went w\o a hitch.
Opened Patch 18 Dx9....all went w\o a hitch.
Game ran fine but I also saw the issues surrounding the star burst as reported by others.
All else looked fine. Noticed I was getting 80 FPS on the runway now instead of 65-69 FPS.

Loaded fine, no crash. FR seemed slightly better than in the past in the tower, mid to high 50s instead of mid 30s-low 40s in the past.

Just tried Beta 19 - Good! Much improved! However, I noticed a couple of issues at least on my system. 1) Star Burst makes sun look like an Xmas tree ornament, so I had to disable. 2) Graphic settings option "Reflections" had no effect on frame rate like before, but badly distorts ground objects and causes some flicker (could be the way it's supposed to look, if so then it's probably is OK). 3) Native POV setting of 80 is much to close (I use 112, but that's just me, If you like your face on the wind screen, it's OK with me). 4) When on-line, I couldn't end the sortie from the clip board, so I had to disconnect. 5) On the plus side, the green haze is gone and colors are much less saturated, at least this is the way it appeared, it's starting to look more like aces high II and this is a good thing!!! Also, tracers seem to be much more pronounced which is OK too!

Windows 7 Pro x64 - Star bursts are oversize.
1st time running game after patch the mouse cursor didn't sync as if game and desktop weren't same resolution but they were both set to 1080p. Maximizing opening screen fixed the mouse issue to let me access game menu with the mouse. This issue didn't recur after 1st time.

Much better frame rates than 17 using graphics settings I used before. Also noticed starburst effect. Tracers from auto guns looked like yellow Xs. When shelling town buildings saw multicolored translucent red, blue, and green blossoms surrounding usual explosion graphic. I'm pleased that I can now turn on some graphics settings I could not before and keep frame rates at 50 or better. :aok

I reinstalled the AH3 beta; newest version last night. I launched the game, made some adjustments to the graphics to set them the same as I had, but when taking off and panning around, I am noticing a slight stutter in all views, but frame rates are maxed at 60fps. I then moved the settings that Skuzzy said were OK to transfer from a the settings folder that I had saved from the prior beta release. I launched the game again, and still have the same stutter. I tried to lower the graphics settings sliders and turned of clutter in flight, turned off shadows, and still have this stutter. I even set the EM to full and still get 60fps, but this subtle stutter is still there. I had no issues in the prior beta release. I have attached a Dxdiag report.

I would disable the Realtek audio in your BIOS and disable the Nvidia audio device in Device manager, but it also looks like the onboard video is still activated also.

On board video? I am not very PC. If you know what I mean. As far as sound goes, I just pluged in headset and ran with it. Don't have any programs as to sound and video except what came with computer, so not sure exactly.

I hesitate to go any further then, because going into the BIOS can create situations that could make the system unbootable. It's a trivial matter really, but I don't want to be that guy.

Figured out my crash problem, I think. I had been using Sweetfx to get the colors the way I wanted them. Seems it was interfering with latest update. I am having the same problems most have reported...Sun is a big bubble asterix and cant exit through the clip board.I am hoping sweetfx will work again later on, I just cant get anything that looks half that good without it. No deal breaker though, don't play to sight see anyway! :x

Update ok, no issues launching.
At takeoff, there's smoke in the cabin. Doesn't show on video. The shadows of the clouds flicker, see video. Glares show as asterisks, see image. ALT-S doesn't create screenshots, used print screen for this one.

My issue was fixed. Problem was that windows update service was eating up CPU and memory. I had to update Windows update and restart and now everything is running great!

Stick lockup is issue in turn and not overspeed. It is at higher speed though.
The video issue you show can be changed in setting. Untick starburst in graphic settings in game. That issue popped up this last update with me too.

Updated no problem. I have the asterisk problem also, but undoing Starburst clears it up.

Just downloaded Beta 19 and initially everything seemed to work fine. I first selected the tank arena and messed around in there for awhile with no issues other than having to reset some joystick controls. I then switch to the crater arena, went into the hanger, selected a Hurricane and my cursor disappeared. Nothing I tried would get it back.

I am not sure if you intended it, or not. The convergence lines in the hangar are casting shadows. (A20 - attack mode if that makes any difference)
Bf109 E4 muzzle flash of nose mounted machine guns appears to be off the centerline of the gun barrels, which makes them very faint.

I can confirm that Alt+S isn't creating a screen shot.
I lowered a couple of shore batteries and the trees from the underlying terrain poke into the gun. See jpg.

One other minor thing about Shore Batteries; in Land mode, the point of view doesn't track the direction of the gun. It's off around 15 or 20 degrees in my quick test.

In the Terrain Editor, I tried repeatedly with several combinations of Make Map and it crashed the TE every time.
I'd noticed that my CBM looks good in any graphics program, but offline in-game the details are blurry. I'm unable to see if the TE does any better with Make Map.

Game hangs on-line at close button on Roster: I went into CraterMA and there were 3 people in there. I pulled up the roster and when I hit the close button, the game hung and didn't respond to anything except Ctrl+Alt+Del.
I did this twice.

Flying a Lancaster lost sound just after takeoff.
Having the same * issue as others reported. Tried cycling through post lighting options. Each time it worked for a few seconds then they were back.

Hi All,
Just a couple quick notes from my testing:
1) Something SERIOUSLY wrong in the damage model. Had a 262 come at me multiple times (I was in both B26's and B17's). He hit 1 plane only and all 3 planes blew up. Looks like the damage of being hit on 1 plane is being spread across all 3 planes?
2) Also....bombers seem to be like paper armor and get shot down way to easily now. Noticed from CV Guns taking out bombers with ease at 9 - 10K. Can someone verify the damage model? Especially on B26 / 17's? I could see this maybe in Lanc's but the armor is much heavier in these 2 aircraft and seem to get taken out like nothing.
3) Noticed when hitting "WEP" in both B26's / B17's (which are not supposed to have WEP) that the temperature game when at full throttle goes from 100 to 150 degrees. Almost like partial WEP is enabled but should not be?

LA-7 WEP Bug in DX 9 Version
La-7 runs fine on WEP till WEP disabled due to overheating. Engine will then cool but hitting WEP again after engine has cooled causes temperature to jump to max and no WEP. Engine will then cool down again but the same thing will keep happening so you can't use WEP after it overheats.
I can enter DX11 version offline play with out crashing.

Spawned an M8 inside of the crater, CraterMA up near the top. At triple digit speed the trees do not recognize the M8 as a solid object to stop it. After launching off the top of a cliff at 90mph and hitting the ground 100ft below, the M8 began a never ending tumble which I could only stop by pulling up task manager and killing the game process. Up until I found the down slopes, every tree type of the 4 types available, would stop the M8 cold and allow it to reverse away.

That part was my bad. I'd set my in-game texture size to 512 to see worst case and I forgot to set it back after my trip. The TE's Make Map still crashes even after resetting my video texture to 2048.

Automatic screenshot not capturing or saving bmp. Reported prior I believe.
Orange text, "Error Filter Texture...[]..." or something like that I tried to capture in screenshot, but function failed.
Screen froze after quit. {needed Alt + Cntrl + Del Task Manager to end task} This is the first occurrence for me. Also first time for Error message in quite a few patches. Note both errors during the same session.

Can you do some testing and try to duplicate this? We have been testing with b17s on the ground, and have not been able to duplicate it.

Was at f150 on greebo map tried upping jeep 3 times when I came down off ramp it threw me into the infinite roll all three times. had it happen it m3 also. I had to alt f4 to get out of it then then field was captured a gun took out my front wheel on m3 an it threw me into the roll also. I like the idea of the small field but think need a little more room to get off that ramp an maybe let us be able to end sortie while moving would help when we go into the roll till gets worked out.

I went through CM Tools > Shutdown Arena, the same way I always have.
I tried to set up another one to duplicate it again but it still says I have an arena running. When you look, you'll see that there are no custom arena running atm.

While trying to negotiate the path from the VH to the map room with a wirble at a small V base (V148) I hit the corner of one of the buildings and was completely stuck. Couldn't back away. Wasn't tipped at all.

Tested the small VH pad ramp with an M8 and Jeep. Just after leaving the ramp onto the flat grass both vehicles bounce up about 10ft. The jeep nose dives into the ground before the bounce to the level of the hood. After the bounce if the jeep hits a wall, gets stuck there with controller inputs disabled. Towering is the only solution.
V139 has trees in the buildings and the map room. If this setup was cloned for the other two bases on the top of the caldera rim, then it is happening with all three small VH at the top of the caldera.
I kept trying to hit trees and buildings at other Vbases that would cause my M8 to stick, no joy as of yet.
Update on ramp, no vehicle is immune to the 10ft bounce, and a got a tiger2 stuck against the building it bounced against.

Yes allcrap was stuck in the corner of a building. I drove up to him in an M8 to try and duplicate it against the wall next to him.
I tested this for awhile in an M8 at 150 which is a small VH with the ramp pad. I bashed into the low long buildings trying to get stuck. After awhile the corner of a building I backed into after repeatedly bashing into the wall across the ally from it hung onto my M8. Had to tower to clear it, all controls to drive the M8 were no longer responding.
I cannot get any tree on that map to hold onto my GV so far.

Here bustr one of a tank stuck on a tree. Sometimes if you play around moving forward an back and turning same time it will let you off but a lot of times no.

I have tried M-8's and big boy tanks. Same result. It won't let you get away once you are stuck in a tree's branches.
Also, I scraped against the wall leaving the spawn hangar and got stuck. I was in a "Tiger I" at the time. Forward or backward had no effect. It is a tight turn so you have to go slow to avoid hitting the wall.

Large dark areas around the Square Tile Objects. jpg!
I'm working on a desert terrain where this issue is most noticeable. Only when I Disable Detail will the dark areas around a tile blend with the underlying texture. Worse, when looking for the tile to meet the terrain in the TE, it masks bad tile corners.

You can see this very well at the tile boarder transition on CrateMA between the TT 4x4 object and the surrounding terrain. I had the same issue on my gunnery terrain trying to paint one of the big four tile sets with road and farm systems onto the town object and TT object at the boarder edges. Cleared it up by painting only the grass tike from the bottom tile sets.
Around every base or somewhere off spawns as I was traveling around CraterMA you can see these black areas. The clutter on top is fine, just the 2D base under the clutter is shiny black or dark grey.

My screen shot I took wont save either popeye Have one of an error that occurred went to check file to post an it was not there. Also could not get lvt out of water set at beach for 10 minutes trying with no luck.

I finally get system that operates AH3 smoothly.
My major issue is flickering/pixelized (self-)shadows. If I run AH2 I can define 4096x4096 shadow texture and also smooth shadow (also not needed for 4096x4096) I can't do it there. Also the shadows and many light effects are unstable and flickering giving unpleasant feeling
The system is: GPU GTX 960 4GB, CPU i5 6600, MEM 16G

I have this fixed on my end, as far as I can tell. The one place I still see odd shadow effects is the flag of each base. Some people reported that it is a global illumination problem, which in AH would be post-lighting I think. With my global settings the way they are in Nvidia Control Panel the post effects don't change the shadows. I think this is a texture filtering issue, but I suggest that you leave your settings at default until the game is finalized. Then we can try to get a universal profile that will fix the issue.
I am still getting Texture Creation errors.

Tumbling GVs
I'm still seeing GVs tumbling forever if they go down a steep slope and lose control. I'd expect to stop tumbling when I hit the bottom of the slope but that isn't what's happening. As far as I can tell in my off-line testing, I'm not falling through the terrain, but I don't really know.

Joystick (X52) seems to lock up at times when it is being used / stressed, such as maneuvering in dogfights with High Energy. It behaves the same as the "lock up" associated with the "don't move your joystick so rapidly" message, but in these reported cases, there was no rapid movement or text message. The next closest comparison would be the compression model, although it occurs way below the speed of any previous compressed activity.
I hope this is additional information that is helpful, and I am just a bit curious if it has "officially" made it to a bug list. (Just curious, please forgive if it even slightly hints of sounding impatient).

My card is an Nvidia 750 gt something or other, and I too get the shimmer. Almost like looking into a heat wave, mirage type situation. It is common especially in long distance shooting. Maybe a field of view cause? When I shortened my POV, not from default, but to 90 from 106, it seemed to lessen the shimmer.

I've finally got a chance to try this online and find other people, timing is everything I guess. A few carriers were sunk and the radar burning seems to still be visible. Occasionally, I guess when sun at right/wrong angle the flight times displayed at bottom of hanger can't be seen. Clouds really gave me a frame rate hit down to 11, I'm usually around 40s or so from what I've noticed. [ I probably need to add my dxdiag next to my Cadillac cars and TVs ]

Beta 20 will probably be more or less kinder to us in baby steps just like almost every patch since alpha 1. It's just all those building blocks and toys Hitech strews on the floor for us to test that makes us stumble. And it give us something to do......... :O

Water, bridge and screenshot issues
I'm unable to capture any screen shots of bridges. Only the shadow of my custom bridge show, while bridge0a is totally invisible. While on the custom bridge, above the water's edge, my Jeep didn't show in the Print Screen image. EDIT: It turns out that it depends on the angle the screen shot is taken. 90 degrees off the line of the bridge and no joy on either bridge but taken off the end of the bridge, the Print Screen function worked.
When I placed bridge0a, set with collisions on, a GV passes through the approach ramp without climbing it.
When I placed my custom bridge over the water, my Jeep climbed the ramp but the moment I come to the water's edge, my Jeep is blocked some 10 or 20 ft above the water's edge.
EDIT2: A suggestion. How about if Vehicles only get stopped if some point on the object drops below zero elevation.

In the TE, the setting circles vanish at some distances and angles. My current work-around is to back out above the terrain until the circle appears, set my entry point and then move back in to adjust it for trees and rotation. Neither the setting circles or the entry point graphic are as visible as I would like. For me, they blend into the ground textures.

In the TE, when I had two spawn points very close to each other and both selected, spawns 1 and 5, the TE's GUI reported that spawn pt 1 was rotating when I had 5 highlighted. Five refused to rotate until I deselected 1. Moving either spawn worked, as did the U,R,L,D buttons.
It these TE sessions, I would typically set circles to 3, icons on, numbers on, and show entry points. At some point, the circles will become garbled. This happens in the AH2 TE as well. It's more likely after a save but can happen at any time. The entry points get the GMS's 3 mile circles and in the Beta. In the situation above with pts 1 and 5, spawn pt. one completely disappeared.
EDIT: Left over from the AH2 TE, when setting objects for any zone but zone one, it's necessary to change the zone number repeatedly. I usually fix it in the oba file but that wouldn't be necessary if the zone number stayed put once you set it for zone 2 or 3.

What I see are two different issues, unless someone can prove (or hitech says) that they are the same issue. The trees in the distance issue is (I think) a texture filtering issue in combination with an anisotropic filtering issue. I think it stems from the trees scaling down, but the pixels remaining a uniform size. It may require some programming fix, or LOD fix, but we also have some means of altering the graphics card settings to some degree.
The other issue is the jagged shadow edges in the cockpit, on the base flag, coming off of buildings, and so on. I think that's a different issue but one hitech can fix.

Hi All,
Another note regarding tanks after playing around last night on the CraterMA map.
I was on my way down a hill from A44 to A87 in a Wirbl and was trying to navigate through trees at a higher than normal speed (due to the downhill). I hit a tree rather hard :) Once I hit the tree I could not move any more no matter how hard I tried (left / Right / back / forward).
I also noticed that when just trying to go in reverse and looking at the shift / gearbox that it jumps from neutral to reverse ever so briefly but then immediately back to neutral. It will not stay in reverse? Not sure if that is by design or a bug but thought I'd mention it.
Also, I forgot to mention a week or 2 ago I had been in a Wirbl once again and in town when the guns had popped. My top turret was shot out but I still had my pintle gun. I tried to climb up the gun turret mound to shoot it out. Once I got to the top of the mound I tried to climb over the mini wall and got hung up on it and again was stuck and no matter what could not move in any direction.

Had a hard lockup in game just now - low level dogfight with one other plane, outside of ack range, so there wasn't much going on. I had set graphics to default, Env. Upd =0, and disabled Clutter in flight and diablde ground clutter.
I am a TrackIR user also, if that makes any difference.
I had to go to Task Manager to cancel the AH3 processes to get out. I know that's not too much help, but I couldn't get at the details of the crash because of the lockup. But it is the first crash I've had in a long time, and it wasn't because of too many planes in the area. It was just me and one other pilot, near a small field.

I have attempted to shoot down multiple bombers by shooting the pilot of the lead plane. It seems I had yall chasing your tails.
This is something that was told to me in AH II some years back when I noted how many times I would shoot the lead and all three would go down. I assumed it was fact and the same thing was going on in AH III. I did not think the powers that be would take that as a report.
I apologize for wasted time that could have been put forth on more accurate issues in AH III.
I am at your beck and call should you need me to test any item in game. I can supply film and any other info you may require on any item.

If I shut off my gv to listen for enemy gv's I will get an error message if I sit for a period of time.......more than 2-3 min.
"EVENT/default/Diesel/Track/Internal/Move is not stopping after timeout"
I got this message three times.
My engine will start but there is no sound. Only the sound of the tracks is audible. I have experienced this in the M-8, T-2, and the T-1 at any place on map of CraterMA.

Quick test offline NDisles A1.
1. - Drones in the air being shot at. I spawned on the runway, FPS 30. Took off and FPS didn't change to 55-60 until I auto climbed out side of icon range.
2. - Changed the airplane drones to tanks. Dove back at the field and flew over the runway at 30ft. FPS 45.
3. - Climbed up out of Icon range and turned all drones back into planes. Dove back to the field and FPS 30.
4. - Towered and changed all drones back to tanks. Spawned on runway and FPS 59.

Flying JU88's lost and engine, the drones also showed a down engine after bailing. from the damaged plane the new plane showed all engines were working.

I captured a scree shot of those criminal trees that kidnap our GVs. It was in Atlas 1 Type 0 on an AvA terrain, avaeto. The offending grove of trees is somewhere inside the spawn circle but I don't think it will be hard to spot in the tile.
It was harder to find it then I thought but the results were worth it. After backing into the tree I ended up half buried in the terrain. That had not happened the first time.
This is the latest version of avaeto uploaded this morning so you'll need to retrieve it.

In general any change in shadows freezes my screen for a short period. This has only been with since this patch (possibly 17 not tested).

La-7 runs fine on WEP till WEP disabled due to overheating. Engine will then cool but hitting WEP again after engine has cooled causes temperature to jump to max and no WEP. Engine will then cool down again but the same thing will keep happening so you can't use WEP after it overheats.
I can enter DX11 version offline play with out crashing.

This is not a bug exactly.
There was a bug in AHII with wep, planes are set up with a total wep time, and a continuous wep time.
Previously there was a bug that the total wep time was not working correctly so there were unlimited number of cycles. Now the total wep time is working correctly so some planes may only have one wep cycle availible.
