Bomb and Bail's have become epidemic since AH III. (Not blaming AH III)At least one a day, and one time in a two hour period, four bomb and bails. Just frustrating.
-
Ive had a few guys bail even before they drop. As soon as I'm in icon range theyre jumping out.
I just dont get it..
-
It happens. I don't normally but if life calls me away from keyboard i'm in the silk.
Most times I get PM's telling me to be a man and fly an aircraft instead of pointing and clicking them to the tower. :x
Frustrating for sure, but it is what it is.
-
this problem has been brought up before--
nothing can be done about it, as long as they are not openly cheating.
they are paying to play.
you can't tell a player how to play his/her game. that would be wrong.
I do commend players who do go after bombers. :airplane:
-
Low number slow times bring out the BnBers for some reason. I don't get it either, but as stated there's nothing that can be done for it that isn't either gamey as hell or unfairly penalizes the incompetent.
I consider it as just something that needs to be put up with. Same as runners in aircraft, same as people who live in ground guns.

There are guys trying to nurse scores, especially in low hours.
Name and shame, that is what I started doing: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,382661.0.html
Both TKO and Cheyenne denied vehemently they didn't do it. Within 5-10 mins of them doing it I have film on the BBS. Nothing like a good shaming, especially if they're in a squad.
-
I was in a single bomber nearing a target with an enemy closing in from 5k, replying to PMs and such.
I somehow managed to get the flashing l to not work in the chat bar, pressed enter to send the message, which didn't then send it. Wondered what was going on and pressed enter twice and I was promptly bailed out, should I be named and shamed Vulcan?
-

Count that as a win. You stopped him from hitting his target. And you didn't even have to use any bullets to do it.

Respectfully Vulcan, I'd submit that naming and shaming does very very little to curb the behavior. Over the years I've seen the same guys do it regardless of how many people bleat on 200 or the forum about it.

both films are 3 ships. Most people usually remap their bail key, you must be new around here.

Yeah, I would so both got somewhat angry at me for posting the film. There is some satisfaction in that. I'm also quite surprised at the number of downloads.

I've been around for a while, I haven't remapped the bail key, and no, Dolby isn't new. I don't like Bomb and bailers, but I don't like vigilantes either.

It can be fixed...
It's called attrition warfare. Give each base, based on its size a set number of aircraft/vehicle points, All planes/tanks will have a cost to operate, late warplanes are more expensive... early warplanes are cheap. If you make it back to a base, the points for the plane go back into the force pool for the base you land at. You don't make it home the points are lost and have to be resupplied. We could take it one more step by replacing the current ENY. Instead of denying use to a plane based on your sides current population ( your team outnumbers every one)The game just makes them cost more to use, If you are on the side that is outnumbered your planes are gonna be dirt cheap.
So...
If you're on the side of the most players and want to fly at the P-51 you still can, it is just going to your cost base your more.
Want to bomb and bail you still can, but your side will have less planes to play with.
You want to furball? You still can but, eventually one side or the other is going to run out of planes and your base will fall.

Nope nope nope. They had this is ww2ol, it was a pain. There were significant problems with griefers. Guys would have 2 accounts and simply empty a town of vehicles. Or auger aircraft on the runway.
The MA is the MA, melees with whatever people want to fly. Ideally we need some sort of historical arena with a background AI fight going on 24/7. But that's a big task to achieve.
-

No sir I played WW2ol too, it worked well.

The biggest problem with aces high is we have stopped trying to be a simulator and fast becoming a Furballin arcade game.....Like, i hate to say the words........ "War Thunder"
-
Yes. Good point. I might be a minority, but it is less and less like a flight sim. I have lost interest lately and have been flying other sims. Flirting with dropping account... Hoping ther will be AI missions In the main arena to bring high altitude fights back.....
-
MA is the MA.
Events really show where AH shines, FSO and events like the Tunisian event show the potential. We need a 24/7 event that gives players purpose and results, backfilled with AI so that it doesn't matter what time of the day you play.
-
The reason for this is very simple. You have a decentsize group of players who have yet to update their hardware. Frame rates are poor for these players about all they can do is bomb and that can be a chore. As soon as someone comes in close enough frame rates drop so low its pointless to play. The mind set behind it is "well I just wasted all this time now he/she will not get these kills."
Nothing can be done about this. In the end no one wins thus repeating a never ending cycle. No worries as players will eventually either update their hardware or simply quit playing. Give it time.
-
If you have gone up in the Defense and gotten somebody to bail before they drop, your defense has been successful. If you have failed to stop them and just want to get some kills to prevent them from getting home, they can choose to fight it out with you or not. Frankly I see chasing the EMPTY bombers as a waste of time if you are supposed to be defending a base or strat.
-
I bailed twice yesterday try to shame me. I'll play my way you play yours. Want me to play your game pay my 15 bucks and I'll let you kill me as often as you want.

That's fine if you want that. The shame doesn't come from me, it comes from within yourself. I'm just the enabler ;)

Events take far too long for me. If I only have 30-60 minutes on a wed night to play there are not alot of event never mind much action.
The MA use to have a great battle going on all the time. If you wanted to fight off missions or run with them they were always there. Numbers dropping has killed that off along with lame play (bomb and bail, run from fight fearing a death, NOEs, hordes). With those battles dropping away all of the other "fights" have dried up as well.

Only a fool will blame the game on their low frame rates. This update has been a couple years in the works. This game provides a very large game world as compared to any other game on the market. You cant run it on your phone. Get with it and upgrade, or quit whining and go play some flash game on your phone.

You've never had any clas......................... ......never mind. This is a game and we are all here to have fun. You bailing with no one around is ok if thats how you want to play, but if you got a guy closing in and you bail well it is just lame game play. More and more lame game play just causes more and more players to quit. Maybe you could stick around and make a fight of it even if you lose. Your "death" in a bomber might be the "trill" that makes a player on his 2 weeks sign up for a month.

I don't buy that.
I saw the very same players bomb'n'bail in AHIII who had also done that in AHII before. Some for increasing 'efficiency' in the war game, some to mess with the opponent (the ones you see bailing even before reaching the target or who will wait until you plane is in icon range so they can judge the risk of getting shot down).
-
Kills need to be awarded to the guy closest to the bailer. You're the reason he is dogfight you should get the credit.
-
I've already stated that the only way to fix this issue is for the person who is in Icon range 5K and closer (who ever is closest inside 5K), should get the proxy kills if the player chooses to bail.
Secondly, the best and easiest way to bring in new players is to have closer bases for quicker action, I'd say 17 miles apart bases would bring a lot more action per square mile and make the fights more intense.
Also, there needs to be a 16 player small Team death match and/or 16 player FFA on the front page with a map that is suitable for players, like Smog8 for Team Death match or another small map for FFA with multiple bases close together, all green, with a rule board not to vulch or use vulgar language (just a start)
Something like this would be great for the players who don't have a long time to play. Or dont have experience for the MA. Or like close quarter action. Or a million other reasons. This would bring a lot of the fighters and people looking for fighter action to the game, which is the most hyped up part about AH. If you lose interest in the fighter aspect to AH, it becomes stale, and you lose a lot of players.

Cant this be achieved by using the dueling arena?

Not in the appropriate way. The furball lake area is not working because of a lot of reasons. Bases are too far, too high, no scenery, no layout, gangs from #s, ect ect. The valley area is fun to fight in, but it's too difficult to find the action if you are a new guy who wants quick fights. The DA works great for 1v1s, but there needs to be a separate map for furball action, on a small land mass map, inside 2-3 sectors. People could easily find the action and not feel left out. This type of fighting really got me interested in the game and it's a great way to learn the mechanics.

This will not keep bnb types from doing what they do. It will affect others that do not bnb.

Make the bailed planes "live" through a slow 200mph dive until they hit the ground.
Sure, it will cause kill stealers to go into steal mode but radio comms usually can keep that from getting out of hand.

The plane stays live.......you can go do what was more important.
The plane can recieve pepperidge until it hits the ground and the kill counts against you.

You get to hear the pepperidge as you contemplate whether bailing was more important than staying with the plane.

Bailing to go on a mission or to help do something else is one thing, but to bail to keep from getting shot down is another.

I think most bail cause they want to bomb and not fight. They have no clue that you can do that all day long offline.
-
Theyd prolly stop doing it if they knew the enemy 5K from them will get the kill anyway. For record, bailing like this does not help your score at all. You'd be better off trying to kill the guy, and only landing with one bomber. It appears that bombers can get away with this mostly out of spite knowing the enemy won't get the kill.

Because it's not really a problem.
Bravo haven I tore you airplane up and by miracle you crashed and you were able to get a ditch denying me a kill and we both laughed about it.
You don't see me coming here asking hi-tech to change the code. And I see situations like that everyday.

For every encounter like that I get tired or four bailers. Usually after I have wasted empty minutes chasing them. It IS a problem.
-
If it were me, I'd just make it so proxies go to the closest enemy within render range regardless, and proxies would be worth perks. Then all you're doing by bailing is giving some free kills to the interceptor.

One easy solution: If it troubles a person to chase a bomber, only to have the bomber pilot bail before combat....stop chasing bombers. Problem solved!

Or create diminishing returns from bailing - e.g., auto-resupplying buildings damaged with increasing time the earlier after the drop (or damage done) the bomb dropping player bails (or dies), with full no auto-resupply after X min (30?) or when landing safely. e.g. bailed immediately afted drop - resupply 100%, survive 15min then die - resupply 50%, land or survive 30min+ - no auto-resupply.
This would also have another nice effect: Relatively short distances sometimes make it tought to intercept bombers. If killing them after the drop still is useful, preventing damange to strats (undoing it) is much more viable, and less resupply (or resupply effectiveness) is needed.

I have a hard enough time getting damaged and broken birds home when certain nefarious individuals are hunting me from the sky-er and beyond. getting 1.5 sectors away from fight and 500ft from landing only to be killed by a fighter coming back on the deck to vulch gives me the strong urge to bomb and bail.... :bhead :bhead :bhead

Got to say that's really not good if this would be done when they're shot down. The number of times I've killed a set of bombers within half a sector of dropping is large. It would not be worth it for bombers to hit strats as they're very often dead shortly after drop.

So we penalize the guy that gets shot down after drop? How is that right? Literally no matter what he does, his damage gets autorepaired.
Wiley.

The biggest reason that I would do that is because of the time needed to complete my plans of world domination. Low numbers is a huge factor in deciding not to RTB. Bailing before target is pointless so the only reason I would do that is wife ack or too wasted/tired. Once numbers are back up because of the advertisement the strat and town and other strategic bombing and bailing wont be common. Taking bases with 1 or 2 players might be a thing of the past . The bailing after target is mostly by design or fuel. Think about it for one minute. Do you realy believe A GROWN MAN would cowardly bail to avoid a non fatal death in a computer game.

Yes, and it happens a lot... Frequently it's the same person (as confirmed by film).
In the end it's their $15. We all have different value systems, theirs and mine don't align.
-
It's no point of intercepting bombers after the drop, then the damage is already done. Its has to be done before the damage is done. And if they then bail when intercepted then mission completed, Although annoying its good to know that the 30 k bailer had spent over an hour to climb that high and have nothing to show for it. So make sure that you intercept him before he reaches his target..

Even if he drops before I get there he don't get a free pass back to his base.. The end

Well taking proxy after target is destroyed is like taking credit for a race that you did not run but was present. But for those that need ribbons for being some where at the right time then congrats and enjoy your awesomeness.
-
If an enemy takes the time to get within 5K of the bombers. They deserve the proxy kills if the bomber takes the easy way out and bails. Win win for both players.
-
Again... attrition warfare.
Getting kills is the the least important thing we do in this game. There is an endless supply of Fighters, Bombers and Armor at all bases.
Having better ACM skills or good gunnery skills as little effect on the game.... having a horde of players, that has an effect on a battle not kills.
In combat being a killer is important, but so is survival. Shooting down planes should be important, getting your plane home again should be just as important.
-
Letting bombers get home to land safely sends the wrong message.
Letting bombers survive who leave the map to sneak to thier target is a non-option.

I will say that getting kills is the only reason I play the game hehe. It's very important. If I take the time to roll to go kill a set of bombers, they better fight me and not take the easy way out and bail. If I get the kills from them not trying to fight, I'd be somewhat satisfied at least. That being said, bombers are freaking nasty and dangerous in this game. Once you learn how to aim right and know the gun positions, you will actually have a pretty good chance at surviving.
