Title: Arlo vs nrshida Grudge Match
Post by: nrshida on March 26, 2019, 02:42:21 PM
For over 4 years I've endured the unwavering insults, trolling, and flame bating from Arlo. On the one hand that's fine - can't expect to get on with everyone sometimes you just trigger someone. It is also only the internet - easy to gob-off from the safety of a keyboard. I, at some point in response, certainly called him the most impotent player in Aces High. I think this was after his usually big-headed rant he let slip he still couldn't avoid a HO on an opening merge. Obviously didn't help relations :rofl So turnabout is fair play I was told.
Time moves on apace. Circumstances change. Presently Arlo is busy emphasising the (fair) point that I did say I was leaving the forum and have popped back and the Schrödinger's Cat status of my Aces High account. With this approach I expect he feels sure he can squeeze me out of the forum forever or just keep raising those points eternally because he thinks those are good arguments to counter any point I make. But there's a difference: I've offered to settle our differences with a 1-on-1 and Arlo claims it is inconvenient.
As I gathered from a lot of cowboy movies men from Texas put their money where their mouth is or otherwise put-up-or-shut-up.
I have offered previously and now demand a 1-on-1 session with Arlo on a point of honour. I say he's an arrogant, mouthy blowhard who is all talk and no trousers.
Conceding there is a timezone incompatibility I give my word to do my best to make a mutually convenient appointment for a 1-on-1 where we can for once and for all settle our differences in the only meaningful / practical fight available to us. I'm happy to agree an impartial adjudicator. The whole thing will go up on YouTube afterwards. I'll be flying my beloved Ki-84. Arlo can field whatever he wants. Spixteen, perk plane, F4U-4 it doesn't matter.
Arlo, I'm calling you out. Maybe you can even beat me. Imagine the orgasmic smugness available to you after that.
Basically: NO MORE EXCUSES. Any further flame bating, insults or trolling from you while simultaneously avoiding an appointment makes you a coward. Let's do this grudge match.

A demand isn't asking nicely. I may as well leave you frustrated, Barney.
And no, I'm good with you staying on the forum .... even if you repeatedly rage-quit it and return. I just reserve the right to call you out on the BS you post. Enjoy life in the MPA. I'll hone my skills with friends in the pay arenas. :D

So the dynamic is finally transparently simple.
The consistent thread being a profound ignorance, filling-in from your own prejudice and principally condescension. You evidently consider yourself senior and superior merely by virtue of being here (on earth / AH) longer. A hierarchical view of the world and naturally Aces High too. 30 years seniority in what you perceive an old boy’s club. You’ve seen it all and know it all.
Any comment or person challenging you and you naturally internalise as arrogant behaviour. You are too inflexible, prejudiced and comfortable to perceive any other explanation. You’ve also inadvertently explained why Bustr can’t ask for help. In doing so he would have to acknowledge someone less ‘senior’ than him was not the reality. Far better to remain in denial & skulk off mumbling ‘ACM-sharks’ and having another bash at map-making to segregate them so you can avoid them and still get your participation medal. The laziest form of ignorant arrogance.
Your oversight into the place of ACM in the broader picture of gameplay wad childish, primitive and woefully ignorant. Ascension up and down the ACM ladder shows you never got above an average level. You don’t forget advanced technique just execute it slightly less well if you are out of practice just like a retired F1 driver compared to an active taxi driver. Rough superior technique will always outclass better-executed but inferior technique. 30 years of doing something the wrong way is 30-years wasted when it comes to actually competing.
That’s why you won’t duel me because you’d get owned and have to live with the proof by contradiction of how pathetically unfounded your absurd world of delusion is. No wonder you get triggered and make irritating trolling posts.
No I do not. Perfect example of your filling-in. I find (or found) you irritating because you never make sound, rational, logical, argument you equate ignoring points or trolling to being correct in exact accord with your hierarchical, confirmation-biased delusion of grandeur.
Again still no duel. But I know a real fight will never emerge because you have no balls, only a huge mouth. Watch as you now slip comfortably into full faptroll mode doing everything I've described above.
At least you're well on the way to winning 2019 AH troll of the year award :aok

It's obvious when you're wound up. You make long posts, trying to sound like you're smarter than you smell and pretend that you're cool headed for a hot head. :D

*sigh* Or just tune out of the thread. Sooner or later it will be locked because it's devoted to individuals who will not rest unless they get the last word.
Used to be fun to see people dueling to win arguments over who was the better pilot. Spectators could circle around and watch the fight - heck, in AW you could all populate a party goon to view the show. This one is mildly ugly, though, and the debate is unrelated to proficiency in the game.

Aggravating people with systematic and long-term, frog-boiling trolling and flame baiting until they react and then taking relish in the fact they have reacted is an accurate definition of trolling.
I think it is perfectly healthy to become aggravated eventually with a person whose only purpose is to continually deride, devalue and forward completely unfounded interpretations about what the other person thinks and does while simultaneously arguing from a position of assumed superiority. Which I don't see any evidence for at all - trolling notwithstanding.
I have offered you a duel, declared my plane and allowed you free choice to even select a perk plane but you'd rather troll on the forum because you can get some semblance of win / superiority here, in your domain and what you clearly think is your forum. To the point where I am not allowed to return - without your leave - or contribute pertinent discussion of ACM without you immediately insulting, trolling and flame bating while simultaneously implying that equates to an in-air victory in a combat flight sim. I don't think it does but at least I have had an opportunity to illustrate you for what you are.
I was only interested in Aces High for the air combat. If I am not permitted to discuss those topics without your eternal leg-humping attention - which apparently the moderators are unwilling or unable to check - then I'll concede the ground to you. I really have no interest in discussing much of anything else here any more. If I wanted guidance on life, maturity, or other wisdom I feel I would have better luck dunking my head for several minutes in the local pond and asking those biological entities instead. I'd probably come out cleaner and wiser than any interaction with you.
So congratulations, you win. The forum is absolutely yours to command and dominate. I shall contribute no further. Enjoy your tiny empire of attention, dominance and power in - what I'm sure - is the only domain you do enjoy those things. You are the undisputed, authoritative judge of what and who is acceptable and your energy to launch personal attacks limitless. I hope the domain outlasts you for your comfort and convenience. Thanks to people like you I think it's 50/50.
Please do enjoy your inevitable gloating and unchecked assertions about me after I'm gone. You have earned it.
At least Arlo is skilled with his trolling, Shida. He beats you there.
A point I'm happy to concede.
Sayōnara :salute

Just so everyone knows, this is the type of atmosphere that has made me decide to end my subscription to Aces High. I came into the game yesterday for a moment, and realized I had been gone for so long, my settings were no longer saved, and I knew it wasn't worth redoing everything. My equipment is stored, and I won't be returning. Thanks for the years of fun. It's over now. David

Then more typetypetypetypetype because you need to explain the unnecessary feelings you perceive as insight about .... well .... mainly me.
Wow, things don't get much more unhinged than that. It wasn't my actual intended result but I'll just watch, at this point, and see what continues to unfold.

Zen. Because when you need mental health nothing in modern medicine beats time out in your room. :devil

Eh, it's an element of my Yoga class today. An element, mind you. It quickly transforms into positions that my body was not built to perform even in my younger, healthier days. I'm, more or less, the comedy relief for the rest of the class. All this for one small credit hour I'm not even required to take. :blank:

Yoga. Because nothing in modern sports medicine maximizes strength, flexibility, and emotional balance like an ancient sex cult from India. :devil
Zen practice is hard. The more popular Zen is the California version where you just sit and think about how awesome you are.
College credit. Nuff said. :D
If you're old enough for yoga to be painful you're old enough to know better. :old:

I needed one credit hour to round up to 12. The only courses that offer such are rec center courses. Originally it was SCUBA (which I really looked forward to). Then there was a last minute opening in 'The Golden Age of Piracy' (a junior level history course) that I wanted more. Such created a scheduling conflict so I had to change SCUBA to yoga and have been painfully suffering ever since. :D

Zen enlightenment is basically kicking your ego out of the control room, without the Freudian terminology.
A zen story calls it riding the water buffalo searching for the water buffalo. Note the implied lack of self-awareness.
Before psychiatry it was mostly demons and devils causing problems but Zen Buddhism realized that talk is endless and unproductive so they went with exercises to develop self-discipline for correct action.
Here in the West we call it growing up. :aok

Ascension up and down the ACM ladder shows you never got above an average level.
I have a feeling that average level is where this game is most fun. Easy to find a challenge and dying a lot means others have the satisfaction of shooting you down. A lot of those regarded as above average by the community have become increasingly frustrated and loud. One such skilled person was in the Melee Arena not too long ago in a high flying Spit 14, taunting everyone who made an ACM decision not worthy of him.
